by the way pearl jain, in case you missed it in the last few elections your country has shifted to the left on you and i think that you are having a difficult time accepting it. you should do what we do in a democratic republic, have your side come up with some real options or other ideas that might work better and have people vote for those candidates, or just deal with it. i will now take a page out of the patriot handbook and say "love it or leave it" to you .

Yeah...THIS administration is the one eliminating people's first ammendment rights. Yup. No. Not the previous one that outed a CIA agent because her husband was speaking out about the war. No. This Obama administration is.
It is so obvious that the Leftist think they can do and say whatever they feel appropriate....(take over the country, piss on the U.S.Constitution, and wipes their asses with the American Flag) . I just laugh at those kind of people - just like they do me - in kind. We still all have the right of Freedom of Speech - therefore we still have a right to express our individual opinions. However - this "right" of ours-is quickly waining. And with your rights waining - my rights are as well. I oppose this current Adminstration - for trying to remove our right of Freedom of Speech. I choose Freedom and Liberty. I support freedom of speech.
how is Obama taking away your freedom of speech? didn't the last administration dump all over the constitution?

I definitely don't want your boss yelling at you, because chances are although you can mess up, you're probably not ruining your boss' livelihood by actively stealing from your him or her, like our Congress does. When you're the boss, and you've tried handling things in a civil manner (and it really isn't working) and your employees are nothing short of absolute criminals, you've got to get angry, profane, whatever it takes before you resort to violence. Class action lawsuits have been filed against our government to redress our grievances, and they are almost always thrown out. I'm not even talking about this birther thing here-- I'm talking about other concerns. I guess what I'm aking is, no matter what you think of these particular people, don't you think there comes a point, sometime after trying calmer methods of trying to get our leaders to listen to us, and before bloody revolution, that a "mob" of people have to remind our elected officials of exactly what their job is, even if there's some volume and a few choice words involved? Or do you just want to skip it and start the revolution?
Obviously, there is a central government in the scenario I described as the America I'd like to live in. The fact of the matter is, they'd be very hands off. Maroon Van Gestapo forces would be illegal in that society as they are right now. Why do people always think that more freedom would inevitably lead to this kind of tyranny? Doesn't anyone else think that the more rules we create ultimately leads to MORE contempt for the law?
To me, this is like asking what came first, the chicken or the egg? In some ways, yes, it is funded by the no good dirty government. Take the Federal Reserve for an example-- Special Interests effectively became the government, because government took a complacent role in letting it happen. Who's to blame there? Both of them-- who do you blame first? It doesn't even matter because you're just so screwed either way, why even argue the point? Years later, the same financial institutions are being bailed out by our government-- the same financial institutions that fund campaigns to put their friends in office, and allow these sort of programs to happen. After all, where is the anti-trust law against the Federal Reserve note being the monopoly currency in this country? Round and round we go. The government, when given the power, legislates all these special regulations that actually allow the special interests to play outside of the rules of basic natural law-- such as monetizing debt, fractional reserves, etc... But it's cool-- we can just appoint a few CZARS with some CEO experience, or create a few agencies headed by former bigwigs at these companies to make sure everything is in check, and well-policed!
I wish this was an actual effective approach, after all, this is EXACTLY what this country has been doing the past however many years-- it clearly doesn't work, and can't for obvious reasons. It is the perfect merger of authority and the greed that uses the authority.
The bigger government gets, the more inherently corruptible it gets. The bigger companies get, the more greater the chances of them becoming the corruptor. Maybe this is where people from your school and my school differ. I think we can both agree that it is unhealthy for either the government or corporations to control our lives (at least I hope so). I say keep the government's power limited and restricted in its role, so it cannot actually legislate corporations into positions of power by outlawing competition. I'm guessing that you believe it's better to create greater restrictions on how corporations through better watchdogs in positions of authority?
wow Vinny, lots to chew on here...

I do find in disheartening that some think it's ok to yell, threaten, and curse out those they may not agree with...the funny thing is, Health Care is about health and saving lives...yet some see it as a poison...

I really miss the days when all that it took to get people fired up was some country bumpkin to say she was "ashamed the President of the United States was from Texas". People got fired up with the "love it or leave it" bullshit and "support the President" mumbo jumbo and the poor Chicks were blacklisted. Now, Rush called the President, "Hitler" and....nothing from this crowd.
Truly Leftist "Spin" here Dude. Your mother-love Nancy Polisi started the "Nazi" spin. Fact check your shit prior to posting dude.

Talk about hypocrisy. the Left has an entire industry devoted to their causes and whatever they care to undermine. Millions of dollars are poured into organization's like Move on,code pink,ACORN, and countless others. It looks like to me that they getting a taste of their own medicine.
People should be able to state their cases without the personal attacks.I think people need to bring some civillity to the debate. However, organized protest is not Un-American. I find it amusing when I read some of these post like :inmytree wrote "I think these town hall screamers hate america and if they don't like it they can leave" Sounds like some one from the right talking about the Iraq war protesters.
We all know emotions can run very high when it comes to politics, so IMO it's impossible to know which are spontaneous and which are contrived at these town hall meetings. If you want to know the truth about how Americans feel about health care just look at the latest Rasmussen poll. Most americans now believe Obama's health care vision is not good for them, and all the spin in the world will not disprove that fact.
I just want them to read the bill and I don't get what the rush is,and If Obama care is so good will Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of congress be on the same plan they are asking us to be on ? :?

An Op Ed piece on why so many might be so angry...
What we're seeing in these angry town halls these days is the last gasp of the angry white man. He's not quite sure what he's angry about, but he knows he's angry. It's not the world he used to know. He gets the disquieting feeling that he doesn't rule the roost anymore. And it's driving him crazy.
One of the chants at the town hall events was, "No national healthcare!" Okay, mission accomplished. No one has proposed such a thing. So, I guess they can go home now befuddled at what they were yelling about.
The reality is that what they have been manipulated into arguing against is a public option that would give them more choices, not less in health insurance. It wouldn't nationalize health insurance at all, let alone any part of the rest of the healthcare industry.

GLADNEY THE UNINSURED ACTIVIST.... Over the last few days, a conservative activist in St. Louis named Kenneth Gladney seems to have become something of a cause celebre in far-right circles. Depending on which version of events you choose to believe, Gladney either initiated or was involved in a scuffle at a town-hall event late last week.
At least one prominent conservative blogger said Gladney was "brutally attacked" by SEIU members outside the event. After watching the video, there's ample reason for skepticism. Gladney was, in fact, pulled to the ground during the fracas, but he seemed to bounce back up quickly, and is seen walking around soon after without any obvious injuries. His attorney has argued that Gladney was beaten during the fight, but there's nothing in the clip to support that.
Gladney later went to the hospital, claiming to have sustained injuries to his "knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face."
Yesterday, about 200 conservative activists held a protest outside the SEIU office in St. Louis. Gladney was there -- bandaged and in a wheelchair -- as a featured guest. Some of the activists held signs that read, "Don't Tread on Kenny." Reader R.D. alerted me to this tidbit in the local news account of the protest:
Gladney did not address Saturday's crowd of about 200 people. His attorney, David Brown, however, read a prepared statement Gladney wrote. "A few nights ago there was an assault on my liberty, and on yours, too." Brown read. "This should never happen in this country."
Supporters cheered. Brown finished by telling the crowd that Gladney is accepting donations toward his medical expenses. Gladney told reporters he was recently laid off and has no health insurance. [emphasis added]
Wait, the conservative opponent of health care reform, fighting (literally) to defeat a plan that would bring coverage to those who lose their jobs, lost his coverage because he got laid off?
I'm not in a position to say whether Gladney sustained genuine injuries or whether he's exaggerating for 15 minutes of Fox News fame and a lucrative out-of-court settlement.
Either way, the new right-wing cause celebre needs to take up a collection to pay for his medical bills because he doesn't have health insurance. It's a fascinating sign of the times.

Yeah I saw that clip to,and I agree it really didn't look like he got fucked up at all ,but then again it was dark, but then he was on fox like the day after and he lokked fine to me. :?

If this guy is faking his injuries, which is what it looks like to me. It will just make things worse for the people who do want to have a civil debate on health care.

it is completely obvious he is faking his injuries. that is the first rule when civil litigation is pending. try to get the sympathy of the jury and the public. i doubt it will work here because everyone in st louis knows this dude is full of crap.

Yeah. I've seen that guy all over the news in St. Louis and it's crystal clear he is full of shit.
People get angry when they know they are being ripped off.
this is just a matter of perception now isn't it. how are people getting ripped off? the legislation has not even been voted on yet. personally i think the insurance companies are the ones ripping everyone off. they make hundreds of millions of dollars in profits while denying coverage of people's medical bills and gladly accepting premiums while denying coverage for basic procedures and dropping those that are too risky to insure.
angry or not it does not give these people a license to show up at a meeting and act like a bunch of damn 2 year olds,

Obama is at least letting them do it! he's not making 'free speech zones' where they have to be miles from the town hall meeting or having to sign a loyalty oath to get into the town hall meetings.
and no, i don't think it would be ok for a liberal to act that way or hold a 'death to george bush' sign or go to a bush rally with a loaded gun strapped to their side holding a sign that said 'it's time to water the tree of liberty' (referring to the jefferson quote) although, that guy thought both major parties were shit other than ron paul

…during the 60’s the Reps sent in troublemakers to start riots at the Dem conventions/kent state. And remember what happened? People got shot.

The thing is... this is NOT a Republican vs. Democrat (Liberal vs. Conservative) thing.
It IS a behavioural thing. The acting out like an asshole thing. I don't care who it is... these Rush Limbaugh fueled assholes... or ACT-UP Gays assholes at rallys... or Cindy Sheehan Code Pinkers acting like assholes at town hall meetings... it's the 'Acting like assholes' thing that pisses ME off.

Hail, Hail!!!
...
That really doesn't matter. It is not the message, it is the tactic.
Which means that people who are defending the behaviour of these people and their disruptive actions at the Health Care town halls must have also defend the disruptive tactics used by Act-Up during the Gay Marriage debates... or Code Pink shouters at campaign stops during the last presidential election.
If they didn't support the war protestors and gay activists, but defend these Town Hall shouters... they are showing us their true colors as partisan, hypocrite assholes.

An Op Ed piece on why so many might be so angry...

"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
Yeah. I've seen that guy all over the news in St. Louis and it's crystal clear he is full of shit.

-is what i'm thinking when watching these townhall things
People get angry when they know they are being ripped off.
this is just a matter of perception now isn't it. how are people getting ripped off? the legislation has not even been voted on yet. personally i think the insurance companies are the ones ripping everyone off. they make hundreds of millions of dollars in profits while denying coverage of people's medical bills and gladly accepting premiums while denying coverage for basic procedures and dropping those that are too risky to insure.
angry or not it does not give these people a license to show up at a meeting and act like a bunch of damn 2 year olds,
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
And people were angry with the Iraq War. So, that makes that same type of behaviour okay.
Hail, Hail!!!
Obama is at least letting them do it! he's not making 'free speech zones' where they have to be miles from the town hall meeting or having to sign a loyalty oath to get into the town hall meetings.
and no, i don't think it would be ok for a liberal to act that way or hold a 'death to george bush' sign or go to a bush rally with a loaded gun strapped to their side holding a sign that said 'it's time to water the tree of liberty' (referring to the jefferson quote) although, that guy thought both major parties were shit other than ron paul
what are you but my reflection? who am i to judge or strike you down?
"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama
when you told me 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'
i was thinkin 'death before dishonor'
they are probably glenn beck fans....i remember a year or so ago he had some guy on explaining how the push to ban trans-fats was getting their socialist/fascist foot in the door and they take little steps to get to their socialist/fascist agendas.....

…during the 60’s the Reps sent in troublemakers to start riots at the Dem conventions/kent state. And remember what happened? People got shot.
Hail, Hail!!!
