I have been holding off on ranking my favorite Pearl Jam album's but have decided it is finally time to do so after getting into the 60 days of Pearl Jam articles.

Here goes!

8. Riot Act
I do like Riot Act, but there was no way I could rank another album below it. Highlights: Thumbing My Way, I am Mine, You Are and Save You. Other than that only sort of like the rest of the album.

7. Binaural
I seriously liked none of this album for the longest time. But the more I listened to Benaroya the more I grew to really like Binaural. It's not a love album, just a strongly like. Highlights: Insignificance, Light Years, Of the Girl. This is the album with my PERSONAL most overrated PJ songs. Nothing as it Seems. (sorry all, "ducks to avoid a bunch of punches!")

6. No Code
This is also an album I never really liked all that much, but I am really starting to love it. It has the best ending of any PJ album with Around the Bend. I am in love with that song. My favorite song on the album is Smile, which I would love to hear live. Other highlights include Lukin, Who You Are, and Off He Goes.

5. Pearl Jam - Avocado
When I first bought this album I really noticed a big difference to their other stuff and I really wasn't a fan of this one either. But I have so grown to love it. I think Life Wasted and Severed Hand are the two best. Highlights: WWS, Big Wave, Wasted Reprise and Inside Job.

This is where the jump happens. I aboslutely think these next four albums are perfect albums except for one "song" I may not necessarily like all of the songs more than stuff in the previous albums listed, but I think are just awesome.

4. Ten
Obviously considered their best work overall by many. I love Black more than any song on the album. Highlights: Even Flow, Alive, Once, Why Go, Oceans and Deep. In the last month or so I have attached myself to the album as a whole. For the longest time I loved just side A, but I have finally come around to side B of the album. I think my least favorite song is Jeremy, it's OK, but not as great as the rest.

3. Yield
This album I have always really enjoyed, but again it has grown from back when I first got into it. It includes my all-time favorite Given to Fly, which already vaults it into the top 4, but it has so much great stuff. In my opinion the album cut of GTF is no where near as amazing as it is live. I cannot wait to hear it in October! My two new favorites are here as well: Low Light and In Hiding, have always liked rocking out to Evolution. My least favorite on the CD is Pilate, just can't get into it. Faithfull and Wishlist are just awesome!

2. Vs.
Alright here goes. The best opening song of all of the PJ albums. Go just hits so hard and rocks so amazing! I absolutely love Glorified G, RVM, Rats, Small Town, Dissident and Blood. Daughter is good, and amazing in concert versions. I am not a fan of W.M.A and Leash and Indifference are both OK, but not enough to drop this amazing album lower.

1. Vitalogy
This leads me to the best album from top to near bottom. I just hate Stupid Mop, to me the CD ends at Immortality, which IMO would be easily the best way to end any CD ever, but they just had to stick Stupid Mop on it. But what am I getting at is this is my favorite album. I love everything about it, from the songs to the album design. Corduroy, Spin the Black, Not for You, Better Man and Immortality are some of my favorites from any album. Last Exit, Tremor Christ, Nothingman, Satan's Bed and Aye Davanita I also love. My least favorite full song is Whipping which tells you how much I love the album. Even Pry, To, and Bugs are cool listens. Would love to get to see a concert where they played this one straight from top to bottom, even throwing in Stupid Mop, what the heck!

Holy crap was that extremely difficult. The only "easy" part was ranking Riot Act last and there is still so much I LOVE about that album. So I guess even though it is my least favorite I still really like it.

The only thing I know about my list is that I'd rank Riot Act last, like you (and I also like that album). It's really tough after that.

Riot act is a fucking class album, and so is Binaural.

Also trying to compare PJ albums is just silly imho!

I have been holding off on ranking my favorite Pearl Jam album's but have decided it is finally time to do so after getting into the 60 days of Pearl Jam articles.

I will post my reasons for the ranking later today, but for now here is just the bare bones list:

    8. Riot Act
    7. Binaural
    6. No Code
    5. Pearl Jam - Avocado
    4. Ten
    3. Yield
    2. Vs.
    1. Vitalogy

Holy crap was that extremely difficult. The only "easy" part was ranking Riot Act last and there is still so much I LOVE about that album. So I guess even though it is my least favorite I still really like it.

Once I delve deeper into my reasoning, I imagine that list could also change.
I also did realize that there is a big drop off.....for me..... after number 4 on my list.

I look forward to finishing expanding it later.

Just wondering what album was your first?

I did get Vitalogy first, but like a week or so later I picked up just about the rest of the stuff. I am a new fan, just really listening to them at the end of last year. But I have definitely made up for lost time!:mrgreen:

:D Thanks, first of all, for clearly stating "my" in the title...personal opinion, but fun to see others responses...
Funniest thing - this past Sunday at the Jersey Shore, my cousin (also a PJ 10Clubber) and I had this exact conversation over 12 too many Yuengling's...great to see people's passion and the different albums imprint on peoples lives...
Anyway - time to have fun:

I can't do this anymore.. The songs and albums are too personal. It's too subjective to rank.. I could name a few songs I don't like, and a few I really like, but can't rate the rest, especially the albums.

to each their own, i guess. i personally think it's their best record to date. but after that, it's hard for me to "rank" the rest of them b/c it constantly changes. No Code has been at the top of my list since it came out. but hey..that's just me.
