You don't BUY a hat like that. You have to reach far into yourself, drawing out the spirit of soul of funk, dedicating yourself to the art of wailing, steel strings, and once you reach pure funk it will come screaming from the heavens on a cloud of fire, streaming stars of varying unseen size and hue, the likes of which your mind cannot even begin to comprehend. It will alight on the ground by your feet, you will pick it up and dust it with a lover's touch and place it on your head, and groove.

He's right can't buy a hat like that...

My buddy Michael Franti and his band Spearhead came to town 2012 Sunfest Festival, West Palm Beach on the Intercoastal. It was such pretty day, sunny and breezy and not too hot. After the show we hungout with the band and SOJA who came on before Michael.

Michael popped out of nowhere, we were next to that cameraman while he played to all the people in the back. Here's his song that tries to pick up spirits on a bad day...HEY, HEY, HEY

I came home one night a few months ago, around 11:30, to find my husband in the basement with guitar and amp working on this song. Apparently it had been a rough day at work.

Oh yes that's my friend And I missed this performance. He is coming to S Florida 10/31 @ Club Revolution (same place they shot the concert scenes for the Tom Cruise movie Rock Of Ages) then we will have a Holloween party and dinner at my friends house after the show....it's going to be scary good. Must figure out what costume I will go with to the show???

On 7/12 Michael was nice enough to wish happy 17th birthday to my daughter out in the audience of 20,000+ to my daughter touring while with Train. He first met her in DC when she was just seven after writing a song on her guitar for him. He's too kool.

Michael is the bomb man. Lucky you!!!
I recently turned 2 of my old HS friends onto him. They were always hip music fans, and fans of BOB...
I told them "You gotta see Michael"
I totally converted them(it was so easy!!)...even to the point where we all left 1/2 through Train's set ;)
Michael stole the show, which was no surprise!
    He is a national treasure!!!

Too funny, we did the very same thing at Train show (prior to the show I had never heard of Train even though I heard one of their songs a million times). It was the amphitheater in Bristow VA and Michael went out to the grass area of mud to get those fans pumped. He told me once he learned this kind of performance from Bono as a way of getting everybody into the show and to be ONE with the fans. Many major bands (John Mayer, Train, Carlos Santana) love having Michael opening because he WILL get their fans pumped up and awake. :D. Besides his opening set is only 60 minutes, and so he likes to expend all his energy.

michael came out into the audience twice at the show we saw, and as the venue wasn't sold out, he ran up and down the aisles like a madman possessed! we had lots of space so i decided to hang out 2 rows behind my pals and sure enough michael comes right up to me! keeps playing looking at me and doing his thing, and then cruises on. i got my hands in the air the whole time...made for a couple of great photos that i will cherish forever!

i could talk franti all day with you! and so true he is one hellofa great opening band for that very reason. people were sitting for the start of his set and by then end of his set they were all standing up clapping/jumping and getting right into it. michael's vibe/music is unlike any other performer i have ever seen and i've seen a hellofa lotta shows. nothing compares to it!! he is the greatest at what he does.
