Well, Muse and Placebo worked their asses really hard to get to every festival and city in Europe multiple times from the late 90's...and they are really good live acts, especially Muse, simply unforgettable and magical, so it was time for them to get really big here without any media campaign!!! I love them since the beginnings andn they have the sound and the melodies Radiohead should have become after Amnesiac...IMHO!!!

Following in the footsteps of its new tourmates, Muse has designed a rather elaborate stage setup for its forthcoming world tour. In an interview with Drowned in Sound, drummer Dominic Howard revealed the band has teamed up with designer Ez Devlin in hopes of getting each and every audience member involved in the hysteria.

“I think we’re going to be doing a few shows where we’re going to have fans all around us,” he explained. “Not in the middle of the room but we’ve designed the stage in a way so that the crowd can fit all around us. Everyone’s going to have a great view and get the whole show, even if you’re sitting behind us, not just the back of our heads. There’s going to be lots of spinning around and stuff like that.”

Spinning won’t be the only thing involved in the setup. Howard went on to note that the band will also utilize, well, we’ll let him explain it because we still don’t really get it.

“There’s going to be some good video usage, he said. “We’re going to be on some big moving LED structures, so we’re all going to be moving up and down at different levels and actually playing quite high up in the air, which is something we’ve never done. We’re going to be on these floating cubes of video [Laughs]. Individual cubes, all like moving around. They’re like massive towers and there’s three of them with lots of video.”

But don’t worry… the carbon footprint won’t be all that bad. As Howard explained, ” It won’t be as big as U2’s tour of hundred and twenty trucks, I think we’ll fit it into about three.”

Haha maybe being exposed to U2's large stage setup is making Muse think of how to one-up it. Can't wait for the shows with U2...I'm going to Dallas and Houston. I have tickets for Copenhagen and Berlin but will be forced to sell them. They're both standing too. :(

MUSE has leaked. Now the tough question, do I listen to it early, or wait for my preorder to arrive next week?

I'm about halfway thru it. It's really good so far. It's not like Black Holes at all. The first two tracks are really catchy (Uprising and The Resistance)...

I'm excited to get it on Tuesday.

  • only halfway in so far, but if this makes any sense, i think this would have been a perfect soundtrack for 'V for Vendetta.'
i keep thinking of that movie when listening to these songs.
    good stuff!!!
  • I've listened to the album 2x now and (unless I'm missing something) it's extremely cheesy re-hashings of the band's past material. It sounds like some kind of parody cover band making fun of Muse and not the band themselves.

Admit it. It sucks. I Belong to You and Guiding Light might be the worst songs in the band's entire catalog.
