All I have to say is if it's this much fun looking at the 9 pics on the cover, I can't WAIT to see the 28 page color booklet in the vinyl edition.
*drools*
No kidding... I really enjoyed this "other" scavenger hunt by the fans deciphering what the pictures came from...
Hubby and I were discussing about this.... why 60's & 70's?
I offered maybe because of how we got here throughout the years of messes from that point on - you know how some people were outspoken and very active in what they believed was right. Hubby offered on how deeply "emotional" (for lack of better word) women were... that perhaps it was like "please don't do that like this beautiful woman did."
I'm really curious why they were chosen and how it fits with the "Backspacer" - which to me means trying to erase the damages done over the years... and trying to "fix" them.
Dreams and memories.... hmmm....
remembering them.... do or don't do what they did...
Dreams - impossible but "possible".... like the insurance frauds these days... (ie denying people health coverage because of 'pre-exisitng 'conditions because they know it'd be impossible to cover EVERYONE without folding or making profit...so they need to make it look "possible" like the magicians)
got so much to say but I'd ramble all night!

In the magician art, the bubble has; hands catching a tambourine (Ed at the end of Baba), the bat (the stuffed bat Eddie had on stage as did the band), 5 eyes (5 band members). Don't know about the rest, but it is a start.

the girl in the red dress is killin me!!! Who is she? :geek:
Farah Fawcett?
I thought about her too but I dont think so becaus it look like a red dress and Farrah's was a bathing suit and I think that since the other 2 drawings are identical to the famous pictures the third one probably is too, so it would have to be a red dress and blach high heels.
I thought about every single bond girl, Sofia Loren,Jennifer Beals, Marilyn Monroe, you name it - LOL! and I just can't put my finger on it.

It seems to me like we just need to find the exact frame that most closely matches the image in Tom's artwork and that somehow there is a dig at Snoop buried in all of this.
Good guess, but I'm not sure the Federation would approve of the black high heel shoes that the girl on the album cover is wearing.
Uhura wore black high heeled boots, so pretty close. In the previous thread I had already guessed Uhura, but the heels just don't match. I'm stumped.

I just realized something - this is something my husband could do - if only he had the patience to sit still for long, especially in front of the internet!
He is into women from 50's... we have a framed picture of Sophia Loren & Cary Grant on September 23, 1956 from the Detroit News on the wall... and he also collects some pictures of women from back then, including the book, "The Great American Pin-Up" by Charles G. Martignette/Louis K. Meisel, covering women from 1920-1980.
I went through all 441 pages and didn't find her. :(
When he comes home from the gym and before he takes our daughters fishing, I hope he can help me out on this!
Since I went through so much trouble this morning, I'm gonna put up a picture I really like from this book - I am enthralled with the Indians history and their cultures/traditions (although I admit this would be a big insult to the Indians, as it does not truly represent the women):
Bummer...I was hoping I'd finally find something. But if anyone hasn't beat my husband to this...I'll make him find her!
Ahh....good luck!

The bottom left pic to me could represent media (Gilligan's Island/i.e. tv shows) and conspiracies (UFO's) distracting us from the desctruction going on in the real world (the bomb going off)
If we truly want to go indepth, I can say the B-9 robot from Lost in Space shares its name with the B-9 bomber plane. Which might not mean much but the B-29 bomber is the aircraft responsible for dropping atomic bombs on Japan. And, let's not forget in the '70s the governor of Ohio, John Gilligan, claimed to witness a UFO sighting.
As for distracting us from the real world, as you put it, I would direct you to what is referred as "Brain in a Vat Theory", which postulates all our thoughts may, in theory, be controlled by some mad scientist, deferring us away from any real world expereinces. I'm beginning to feel like I'm dissecting an episode of 'Lost'. Of course, this can all be balderdash, and most probably is.

Yeah. I retract my guess. You might be right. Then again, his suit is similar to the ones worn by the old cosmonauts. Either that, or from something like 2001: space odyssey, with a drumkit superimposed.
"In 1965, forty years ago on June 3rd, astronaut Edward White made the first U.S. spacewalk. Tethered to his Gemini IV capsule, White is pictured above holding a compressed gas "zip gun" for maneuvers in his right hand. His spacewalk began over the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii and ended 23 minutes later above the Gulf of Mexico. Of course, the term spacewalk is a bit deceiving as White was falling freely in low earth orbit alongside his capsule manned by fellow astronaut James McDivitt. In free-fall, White was able to control his motions by firing bursts from his gun until its supply of compressed gas ran out. He ultimately returned, exhausted, to the two-man Gemini capsule."
Looks pretty close to me...
