im a 10c member and kinda disheartened at the GA thing. stuff that... getting thrown around ... losing your spot after going to the toilet... who thinks it will be better just skipping the presale and buying reserved seating??? is this risky? ... or will (hopefully) 10c have reserved seating for us 10clubbers too .....

i sure hope all this gets cleared up pretty soon

Assuming you're talking about the Aussie/NZ tour, let me remind you that these are stadiums.

Reserved seating at stadium gigs, on the side and in the back... be prepared to bring binoculars.

I was a bit apprehensive at first but as I've only seen PJ with seating - I think it would be awesome to see them in GA too. Chance to move around and get rowdy!

  • Last show I was at there was a marrige proposal and some down right free loving to follow at the Perth Subiaco show. You want to sit down and miss that kind of stuff going down be my guest. I'll be the one partying down the front to the greatest lyricist and band in the history of mankind. 8-)

Of all the bands i have seen over the years i can only recall sitting on the last Rush concert tour in Newcastle Upon Tyne and to be honest i didn't like it at all (not the concert - the seating!)... I have always stood at concert venues - the atmosphere is just sooooo much better somehow - and the PJ gig in Manchester 2 weeks tomorrow will not be any different.

Quite agree - no one sits, but its nice to have a tiny piece of real estate that is legally yours for the show. I wish people wouldn't be obtuse and just talk about 'who sits' because that's not the point.

Seems like pj fans complain about anything and everything. It doesn't matter what 10c does (and they do MANY GREAT things). People will still complain. The band could play a private performance in someone's living room and let that lucky indivisual pick the setlist, and there would still be complaining.

GA or seats, just enjoy the shows people. I mean I like to stand and sit at shows too. I often do both. Do what you want, just enjoy the music and overall experience of seeing pj live.

I'll take reserved seats over GA anyday. Granted the seat won't be sat in, but I like having my guaranteed space. Having to fight to keep your spot from those that believe it is okay to push their way to the front detracts from the show in my opinion.

Also if nature calls, I won't lose my spot. :D

I'd be happy to just to hang upide down from the ceiling if they'd just add a Portland date! ;)

But yeah, the "reserved seat personal space thing" is nice too.

I really hope there is reserved seating available, cause I can only imagine the whining that will go on after the show if some people have to be so inconvenienced by :o  GA.
You don't have a spot at a GA show, so complaining about losing it makes no sense. It IS ok to push to the front.
If you don't like it, stay off the floor or stand far enough back that people leave you alone...but don't try to go to the front of a 10,000 person mosh pit and then cry that people are invading your space... It's a fucking rock concert...do you really expect to set up a blankie and picnic like you're at some local folk fest?

I believe I only stated that I prefer reserved seating and gave my reasons why. For the Kings Of Leon show at the Spectrum I had the opportunity for GA tickets, but decided to take good reserved seats.

You want to have a mosh pit and be able to push yourself up to the front with no respect for others, go for it! While we're at it let's hire the Hell's Angels for security too! They got some great references from the Rolling Stones....

Curious, since when does going to a rock concert give anyone the right to act like an idiot? By all means dance around, sing out loud and have fun, but don't ruin it for others.

Those of us already in the front and centre reserve the right to kick the nuts of people who plough into our backs expecting to get to the front through us.

I agree...though I do admit that sometimes I sit during the encore break because I actually really do need to rest by that point.

    Exactly !!

I have been GA for non Pearl Jam shows, it is so crowded you can barely lift your arms about your waist and there are always the inconsiderate knuckleheads who behave badly and ruin the experience.

That's all fine and well, but with the GA arrangement being set in place (unless Chugg is bullshitting), going for reserved seating at a stadium means taking a pair of binoculars if you want a decent look at what's on stage.

Hahaha love that movie! Yeah I mean if I was big and young maybe, but I'd like to see the playing field more fair ya know? For example, I'm blind without my glasses, so I cannot take a risk of losing them in a pit, and I teach aerobics, so I'm not going to risk injury to my livelihood and injuries happen - a girl was taken out of NIN in Montreal on a backboard and people with broken limbs such as at Rage last year in Lolla (we were there).

So anyway, all the original guy is saying is he hopes there will be a choice of reserved seats for 10C if someone didn't want GA. I'm sure he'll be happy to see PJ either way as we all will be.

i hear ya... it can get a lil scary sometimes... seems like everyone in the pits are usually looking out for one another if anyone falls - atleast with tight fanbases like NIN's and PJ's... but theres always a handful of meatheads that can ruin it for alot of people... and even in a respectful crowd toes are gonna get crushed, shoes and hats are gonna be lost, and youre gonna be a sweaty, bruised mess by the end

that being said... i cant wait for NIN at the aragon :D and i hope PJ does some more GA shows in the states sometime soon

been to many GA and reserved. I have enjoyed the reserved shows far more. easier to relax and jam to the show without jackasses acting like fools.

Considering these are stadiums, I doubt there's any half decent reserved seats for the 10c to care to fight for an allocation for.

An indoor arena, sure. At these oval-shaped venues? The only seats around that will have a good view is from the crew's side stage area.

I feel like Im walking into a Neil Diamond show when i see seating. No other rock band does this. Imagine seats at a Metallica show, Green Day, Tool, NIN or any other rock n roll gig. Sheesh the day PJ started putting seats down the front is the day they (and some fans) started getting really old.

I quoted you because you were talking about losing your spot. You don't have a spot.

I don't choose to have a mosh pit...the band does by having GA shows. It is what happens at a rock show. .
I could argue that you are obstructing me. If I ask you to get out of my way, will you? You are not entitled to be at the front any more than I am, so if you won't get out of my way, I'll push by.
How is going to the front disrespectful? part of the fun of a pit is looking out for each other, keeping things intense, but SAFE.

And wtf does Altamont have to do with any of this? Just a splash of drama or what? Yes, good security is absolutely essential for a GA show, if there is any fan base that knows this, it is PJ's. What's your point?

um, no. You have every right to push back, or try to stop me from getting in front of you. That's part of the game up front. Starting fights is not.

I understand that mosh pits aren't for everyone...I don't always partake. Many times I've chosen to stand a bit further back and just watch the show in peace...you can usually stand at what would be the equivalent of about row 15 and not be bothered....this is still a great spot!
I sure as fuck don't expect to go up front and expect to be left alone. this argument makes no sense to me.
  • QSAC in Brisbane is a shit stadium for seating. The seats are way back and not that good. If you want to mosh go ahead but I would like to have a seat not to sit down but just so you have the same space to return to. What is the point in getting there early getting front row and then needing a piss just to find on your return you are way back and have no hope of getting up the front again. Good for some who were gifted with height, I am about 173cm tall so seeing over most people is hard. The next option might be that I piss where I stand, at least you are guranteed some room then...........lol.
