I totally agree. And if there are any fans that should be attempting to unite to take a stand it should be PJ fans.
I'm made this stand and I do think its good to try and create a unified group of people to revolt. F those Muther Fers... scamming us just to enjoy a beer at a concert or ball game. Its a freakin robbery.
I live in SF and I'm telling you... it makes going to Giants games a joke. I paid $8 for a beer in a metal bottle recently. Disgusting. I decided then that I would no longer do that. The bummer is that I like to get a little suaced at the game. They prevent you from being able to do that and this is essentially why I'd rather go to an A's game over a giants game. Better environment for the laymen.
I went to Wrigley Field 2 years ago and was STOKED on thier keg beer price. I think it makes great sense. Let people afford the beer, they will get drunk, they'll want to come back and they'll end up buying more beer and spending more money thank the effing $12 beers.
I'm with you OP. I'll be sneaking in a flask... rolling a spliff and spending all my scratch on PJ merch that I don't piss out 20 minutes later.
beer is expensive moreso so people dont get hammered at the show and then drive from the building and kill someone....i think its more along those lines than it is to make a profit, tho obviously that is a reason
i like to drink so dont think im anti-drinking but that is what people have told me who work in concessions so who knows
like other people have said drink before the show but i cant justify paying that kind of money for a beer when i can buy a 12 pack

Ya, so only the rich can get drunk and kill people. Cause they can afford a better defense when it goes to court.
i don't like to drink at pj shows bc i dont like having to pee during the show...
Me, too. I do shots instead. Right before the show, no need to have a beer in the show when I can get a quick buzz and save my money and time in line AND no pee breaks...ever! Not to mention trying to smuggle water in, also. You just realize after a while that the beer is not worth more time and effort than being where the music is.
However, I know I'm in the minority with this opinion.

actually, although they do have a responsibility i dont think they really give a fuck about the well being of the drunken fans beyond cutting the beer off at 9 pm... or after 7th inning, 3rd quarter, etc...
...actually its all about the profit... raping the everyday joe schmo for every red cent that they possibly can
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...
I do have to say the price is ridiculous BUT at least in Philly they give you those big ass cups. I went to the solo show in Baltimore and they basically gave me a shot of beer. Im all about drinking BEFORE a show and not much during though.
Last year 6/19/08 in Camden show, Eddie said during the set "Huh? Beer is $100 a barrell?"
At that time Oil barrell prices were the talk of the world.......
PJ is well aware of the prices of the beer being sold at concessions stands........
they don't even care bout lack of info from the 10c. you think there gonna care bout beer prices, that's funny. probably just ed on another drunken wine rant.

Seriously? Beer is 12 bucks at the Spectrum? I don't think I will have enough money to buy a beer on this trip!!!
Beer is not $12 at the Spectrum, I would say closer to $8.
Than that is about average. I didn't think it was 12, but I didn't see any replies that, that was not the case. Still a bit steep if you ask me....but I will probably have 1.

I think I have a serious drinking problem, people. And my problem is that beers are $12.00 a piece. I'm just gonna eat some mushrooms instead, who's with me?
PS: I'll be selling 12 packs of Pabst Blue Ribbon in the parking lot for $12.00 if you're interested....

Who would pay $1 for a bottle (or even worse - a can) of donkey piss?
1/12/1879, 4/8/1156, 2/6/1977, who gives a shit, ...
I went to Eddie's solo show in Upper Darby (Tower Theater) and stood in line for 15 minutes for 4 beers for my bros. After handing over the 4, 16oz, semi-warm Yeungling lagers in plastic cups, the bartender said "that will be $41". I had a twenty and a ten in my hand thinking I'd be good, and my jaw made an audible smack hitting the bar. Doh!!! Of course, after waiting all that time, I couldn't walk away. The prices for adult beverages at shows these days are fucking ridiculous. I think I'll just hit the scotch and spliff in the parking lot before the Philly shows and save on the beer cost and bathroom breaks.
1. If you think PJ doesn't receive a percentage of sales from concessions...your frontal lobe isn't fully developed yet..
2. Although it is your money and it's up to you how you spend it, this is a real problem at venues. Support me in a boycott of concessions on 10/30/09
3. Thanks for the kind words and support of the issue
Finally, this is not a knock or attack of the band. It just doesn't make sense to pay these prices at a PJ show. I love them for much more than the music*

Ok...
No Problem....
I promise I will not buy a beer at the concession stands in Philly......
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
I will attempt to actually give some useful information to this thread. If you are buying beer and I will be, make sure you use cash. The vending stations at the Spectrum do not take credit cards.
And for the record, the most expensive beer I ever saw at a PJ show was the $10.50 or $11 beers at the Gorge. The best deal I ever saw was 20 oz Sam Adams for $6 bucks at Aloha Stadium. I was laughing at the people paying $8 for 20 oz of Coors Light and Budweiser and couldn't believe that Sam Adams was cheaper there.

Yeah the Tower and other "performance" centers get away with highway robbery when it comes to alcohol prices due to their tendency to host higher brow events and thus can command higher prices.

Great call! Great call! Great call! I worked at Comcast-Spectacor for 2 years and would forget about this everytime!

Exactly! The beers could be $2.00 and I wouldn't buy any. Don't get me wrong I love my beer, but I would be upset if I was in line for the bathroom and missed a cool part of the show. Also I don't like to drink too much because I tend to forget things once I hit a certain level and I don't want to have to listen to the bootleg a couple of days later and remember the show I was at. I usually have a beer or two and that's it, just enough to chill out and relax. I'll save the heavy drinking and my money for after the show when I'm geeking out over how great the show was.
If others want to drink like fish, that's cool, I'm not preaching here, just saying what I've learned along the way.
