and choice of not knowing the facts. I know this is a PJ forum but this needs to be discussed. This sargent is a teacher of an academy to not racial profile, Mr. Gates' home was broken into prior to this and he admitted kicking his own door in, neighbors called police and he refused to show id and made rude comments about the policemen's mother.

why you saying that? Eddie Vedder can stand on his soapbox and talks politics all the time. He encouraged me to speak on this this thread people. You telling me that I can't write about politics after paying my membership every year? Your acting "stupidly"!!!

Do you know the facts? Why are you talking about it without knowing the facts? I can almost promise you neither side is telling the complete truth.

Have you ever defended a friend that may not have been entirely correct?

NO, that would make me stupid.

Not getting into a political debate in this forum. It is clearly in inappropriate place for this discussion. There are plently of other places we can debate this topic, please see your way over to one of them.

I guess Obama can't express an opinion...kinda like you're doing right now...you assume you know the facts and that Obama doesn't...

i dont think Obama did know all the facts. the so-called victim was a friend of his. i think Obama should have stayed out of it.

And there are people who defend him no matter what he does. Like he said, "I do not know all the facts". Maybe he should have said , No comment until I see all the facts of this case. That probably would have been better no?

Obama is damned if the does and damned if he doesn't...really, I don't see the big deal...so he didn't blindly buy into the cops story...so what...? he commented...so what...?

it's amusing how this has turned into a big deal...

I myself have made the decision of speaking on a subject matter and not knowing all the facts and I didn't like it. In this case Obama should have made a *no comment* comment and let the situation play out. I'm pretty sure he's having second thoughts on what he said and possibly will not make this mistake again whether it's a friend or not. Either way he'll be criticized by the left or the right, the man can't win for losing. :)

huh...? perhaps I should clarify...unlike you, I'm taking race out of the equation...let me repeat my point...again...

the police investigated a 911 call...the found the owner of the home to actually be the person who entered the home...case solved...the end...

however, the homeowner happened to be super pissed off...and happened to say some not so flattering things (according to the police)...suddenly the homeowner is in handcuffs and arrested ....which, to me, is bullshit...

How could you take race out of the equation when that is why Gates became beligerant? He accuesed the cop of being a racict. When he obviously was folloing up on a 911 call.

He's taking race out of the equation becase you shouldn't be arrested for that no matter what color you are.

so he accused a cop of being racist....? is that now a arrestable offense...?

get over the race thing, please...Gates could have told the cop that his breath stunk and his shoes looked funny, would that have made you feel better...?

answer me this, if he said the cop had nasty coffee breath and that his shoes were stupid, should he have been arrested?

In this case a step back by both parties would have been for the better and like I said if Gates put his hands on the officer like in baseball with umpires throw him out of the game or in Gates case arrest him for assault. However I don't think there was a need to arrest him based on being belligerent to an officer on breaking into your own home after reluctantly showing his ID. I know I tried to do the same two weeks ago.

its not a huge deal, he didnt accidentally declare war on a country who was no threat to us, but still, that cop didnt deserve the drubbing he got and from the press and idiot politicians. you dont think that can be harmful?

and he's the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, not some idiot poster on a message board. he has to be smarter than that.

you seem like the most pissed off person here...

its a political message board. people come here to talk about politics. there are other issues besides fucking health care. not all issues are major. i commented on this one. he should have shut the fuck up on something he didnt know the specifics of. that is the "right" choice and you know it.

all of this is a distraction to take everyone's attention away from the really important issues that are not being addressed. there are 2 wars, 47 million people without health care, trillion dollar budget deficit, just to name a few things, and this has been brought to the forefront. this is the top news of the last 2 days?....these politicians are buying into this and commenting on it so that WE forget the important issues so congress can get the hell out of DC for their august recess without making any decisions on anything of substance. it is nothing more than stalling. every day that something like this ties up the news cycle is a day that no pressure is put on anyone in congress and nothing gets close to getting done.
