No, there isn't. You were right to dismiss it as nonsense. This has been floating around out there ever since he started running and it became clear he could mop the floor with anyone the republicans threw at him. They were grasping at straws. Drifting's big on the theory. It even went to court and was tossed out, but reality has no hold on ideologues, be they those who think he is inherently evil or those who think he can do no wrong. Fact is, this story is absurd and yet people cling to it because they have nothing else (or didn't for a while, but they still hold onto it because it's easier to grasp than complex issues of foreign policy, economics, etc).

Hawaii does their birth certificates different from other states. There's no doctor sig or anything. However, there are newspapers showing his birth announcement in Hawaii...yet that isn't enough for the nut jobs

did any republicans try to make this a legitimate issue?

no... they won't touch it... just the talk radio crowd and the bloggers... you know, the media where you need zero proof of the crap you are saying.

Nope. They were smart enough to not to touch it because it's ridiculous, kinda like how they tried to distance themselves from the Swift Boat people.

If I may interject. They didn't make it an issue during the election because, of course it's hogwash. Currently a group of 9 Republican senators are co-sponsoring a bill that would make it mandatory for any presidential candidate to have to show their birth certificate in order to either run for office or be elected. I can't remember which it is.

Anyway, regardless of the fact that it kind of seems like this should have been something we as a country addressed about 200 years ago (the issue of proof for candidacy I mean), the implication now is that the bill is lending some credibility to this current "birther" craziness.

Don't you think if there was any shred of evidence that it were true the Clinton's and their political machine would have made this an issue during the early stages of the primaries.

Where In The World Is Obama's Birth Certificate (Part 2)?

    Look folks.
I don't "hate" Obama, any more so than I "hate" just about every other faux-leader that "our" (certainly NOT so) political machine has fixed us up with.

The SIMPLE FACT OF THE MATTER -- despite what lovers of the system like Jlew falsely retort -- IS THAT OBAMA HAS NOT RELEASED HIS LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

This raises questions \ concerns as to WHY.
You can deny that this is so (that the form provided, is NOT the form requested) -- hey, Jlew did that in THIS thread -- but IT TAKES FIVE MINUTES TO PROVE.
Go look it up. Read the above article.
    It is CERTAINLY SO.

HE HAS NOT RELEASED HIS LONG FORM CERTIFICATE.

I'm not saying he isn't a natural born citizen,
    but WHAT IS HE HIDING?

Why not just release your stupid fucking certificate

Is it really THAT "nutty" to ask that a president provide a record showing the location of birth and attending physician? Sheesh.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

    here is one guy

who claims that Obama legitimately does NOT have a long form certificate due to the way Hawaii did forms half a century ago.

    If this IS true,
why do they not just say "he doesn't have one".

At least it would be honest, instead of playing games.

No president or candidate in the history of US elections has either. John McCain didn't either. The only reason it's a big deal to some people is because Obama's black and has a name that doesn't sound nice and WASP-y. Hawaii has vouched for his birth cert, as has every other official that matters. Not one state official with any sort of authority or relevance has raised these claims. Just internet yahoos with too much time on their hands.

Probably because he has whatever Hawaii gave him and when people asked he said "yeah, I've got that, I'm good." What the fuck is a long form birth cert? I don't know if I have one. But if someone asked me, I'd say I do because I have a birth cert, know I was born here, and have no clue what the hell else you'd want from me. Then I'd tell them to go fuck themselves for sticking their nose into my business. I wouldn't give you my social security card to satisfy your busybodiness either.

Once again it was confirmed the birth certificate is real. Now can we get on with more important things like how much of a hippie communist scumbag young Malia is for wearing a peace shirt?!

I really think the 24-hour news cycle, and it's voracious appetite for any news, no matter how far fetched and insignificant, is as polarizing a force as any in this country.

i agree with you here. gabers. well put.

    this is a settled issue.

what do these people want? a re-vote? if everything was to be done over and if obama was expelled and inelligible to run again i think that biden or hillary would trounce mccain and palin again. there is nobody in the gop that could beat any of those two right now and i say that because the gop are not even offering any ideas on how to fix things, only opposing what has been proposed for the sake of politics. do not think that a vast majority of americans are so stupid to not notice that. they want the country to move forward and can not have their time wasted by people who are grasping at technicality straws because they have nothing else to use against obama.
