Some middle aged reservist got orders to deploy to iraq, and decided he needed to know if his "orders" were legitimate, ie. if his commander-in-chief was legitimate. He became a "conscientious objector" and notified the army of his position on the matter.

You never heard the whole birth certificate controversy? One of the attempts to steal some of his campaign thunder was that he's ineligible to run because he's not an American citizen and wasn't born here or some such nonsense. There were all these bizarre theories about his birth certificate being fake or something. They've all been debunked, but that apparently hasn't stopped some people from clinging onto it. This story is about some military guy saying he won't go to war because the orders are illegitimate because Obama isn't the president or some such nonsense. So they didn't send him. He's got a lawyer, so I presume some charges are being filed against him. But, of course, the fact that he wasn't hauled to Afghan in chains is proof enough for Drifting that he's right and there's a huge coverup going on :roll: I guess a ton of national media coverage is the new way to cover up things you want secret.
The other video posted in some inbred moron ranting at a town hall meeting about her birth certificate and getting all choked up about ir. This woman's as bad as the one that asked McCain if Obama was a Muslim terrorist or whatever.

Hawaii does their birth certificates different from other states. There's no doctor sig or anything. However, there are newspapers showing his birth announcement in Hawaii...yet that isn't enough for the nut jobs

No, there isn't. You were right to dismiss it as nonsense. This has been floating around out there ever since he started running and it became clear he could mop the floor with anyone the republicans threw at him. They were grasping at straws. Drifting's big on the theory. It even went to court and was tossed out, but reality has no hold on ideologues, be they those who think he is inherently evil or those who think he can do no wrong. Fact is, this story is absurd and yet people cling to it because they have nothing else (or didn't for a while, but they still hold onto it because it's easier to grasp than complex issues of foreign policy, economics, etc).

Anyway, regardless of the fact that it kind of seems like this should have been something we as a country addressed about 200 years ago (the issue of proof for candidacy I mean), the implication now is that the bill is lending some credibility to this current "birther" craziness.
