The Continuing, and Inexplicable Saga of Obama's Birth Cert.

This is great.

Latest news is this.

Some middle aged reservist got orders to deploy to iraq, and decided he needed to know if his "orders" were legitimate, ie. if his commander-in-chief was legitimate. He became a "conscientious objector" and notified the army of his position on the matter.

WHAT DID THE ARMY DO?
The BIG and STRONG army that DOES NOT BACK DOWN?
THEY RESCINDED HIS DEPLOYMENT!

I guess this is the new, more humane Army that understands that not everyone trusts their president, and therefore is wiling to allow its ranks to essentially desert at will?

video of guy and his lawyer

article summation of current status

Weird.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

seems that they rescinded the order because of the pressure given to the employer to fire the guy...not because of that tired old birth cert thing

To me, this guy is a jackass looking for attention... He volunteered for active duty in May of this year, and then brought this "complaint" up...

More likely there are rules against sending the mentally ill into combat.

    Makes no sense does it.

And honestly, of all the reasons to refuse to go to war, this is the reason that he came up with?

You never heard the whole birth certificate controversy? One of the attempts to steal some of his campaign thunder was that he's ineligible to run because he's not an American citizen and wasn't born here or some such nonsense. There were all these bizarre theories about his birth certificate being fake or something. They've all been debunked, but that apparently hasn't stopped some people from clinging onto it. This story is about some military guy saying he won't go to war because the orders are illegitimate because Obama isn't the president or some such nonsense. So they didn't send him. He's got a lawyer, so I presume some charges are being filed against him. But, of course, the fact that he wasn't hauled to Afghan in chains is proof enough for Drifting that he's right and there's a huge coverup going on  I guess a ton of national media coverage is the new way to cover up things you want secret.

The other video posted in some inbred moron ranting at a town hall meeting about her birth certificate and getting all choked up about ir. This woman's as bad as the one that asked McCain if Obama was a Muslim terrorist or whatever.

I have heard of it, but completely dismissed everytime, mostly because I dont give a shit. I think its utter nonsense.

but what I'm wondering is where this came from. is there a legitimate beef as to where he was born?

Hawaii does their birth certificates different from other states. There's no doctor sig or anything. However, there are newspapers showing his birth announcement in Hawaii...yet that isn't enough for the nut jobs

No, there isn't. You were right to dismiss it as nonsense. This has been floating around out there ever since he started running and it became clear he could mop the floor with anyone the republicans threw at him. They were grasping at straws. Drifting's big on the theory. It even went to court and was tossed out, but reality has no hold on ideologues, be they those who think he is inherently evil or those who think he can do no wrong. Fact is, this story is absurd and yet people cling to it because they have nothing else (or didn't for a while, but they still hold onto it because it's easier to grasp than complex issues of foreign policy, economics, etc).

did any republicans try to make this a legitimate issue?

no... they won't touch it... just the talk radio crowd and the bloggers... you know, the media where you need zero proof of the crap you are saying.

Nope. They were smart enough to not to touch it because it's ridiculous, kinda like how they tried to distance themselves from the Swift Boat people.

If I may interject. They didn't make it an issue during the election because, of course it's hogwash. Currently a group of 9 Republican senators are co-sponsoring a bill that would make it mandatory for any presidential candidate to have to show their birth certificate in order to either run for office or be elected. I can't remember which it is.

Anyway, regardless of the fact that it kind of seems like this should have been something we as a country addressed about 200 years ago (the issue of proof for candidacy I mean), the implication now is that the bill is lending some credibility to this current "birther" craziness.

Don't you think if there was any shred of evidence that it were true the Clinton's and their political machine would have made this an issue during the early stages of the primaries.

Where In The World Is Obama's Birth Certificate (Part 2)?

    Look folks.
I don't "hate" Obama, any more so than I "hate" just about every other faux-leader that "our" (certainly NOT so) political machine has fixed us up with.

The SIMPLE FACT OF THE MATTER -- despite what lovers of the system like Jlew falsely retort -- IS THAT OBAMA HAS NOT RELEASED HIS LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

This raises questions \ concerns as to WHY.
You can deny that this is so (that the form provided, is NOT the form requested) -- hey, Jlew did that in THIS thread -- but IT TAKES FIVE MINUTES TO PROVE.
Go look it up. Read the above article.
    It is CERTAINLY SO.

HE HAS NOT RELEASED HIS LONG FORM CERTIFICATE.

I'm not saying he isn't a natural born citizen,
    but WHAT IS HE HIDING?

Why not just release your stupid fucking certificate

Is it really THAT "nutty" to ask that a president provide a record showing the location of birth and attending physician? Sheesh.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?
  • PS --
    here is one guy
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYrZQLbFhb0
who claims that Obama legitimately does NOT have a long form certificate due to the way Hawaii did forms half a century ago.

    If this IS true,
why do they not just say "he doesn't have one".

At least it would be honest, instead of playing games.
