To this point, the blogosphere's endless fascination with Erin Andrews mostly has been harmless, semi-wholesome fun.

But that changed this week with the surfacing of video somehow taken of Ms. Andrews through a hotel peephole, when she was in a state of extreme undress.

Not cool. The video has been deleted from most sites by now, but not all.

With respect to recent Internet postings of Erin Andrews, she has authorized her attorney, Marshall B. Grossman of Bingham McCutchen LLP, to issue the following statement:

"While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent. She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future. Although the perpetrator or perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material. We request respect of Erin's privacy at this time, while she and her representatives are working with the authorities."

    This after getting hit in the face by a foul ball not too long ago as well. Bad streak of luck for her.

    ESPN is offering their resources as well to help her case of finding out who did it.

    I downloaded the video off a torrent. I have to admit that I telt bad watching it. I feel bad for her because she was spied on. It's not like she made a sex tape that got out or anything.

    Anyone who downloads this and watches it is no better than the person who taped it. You are watching something the woman doesn't want you to see and that you don't have a right to see. This is different than fools who tape themselves doing whatever and then it leaks. This woman was minding her own business in the privacy of her own room.

    I totally agree. it would be different if she recorded herself and it somehow leaked. But this is too much. And I'd love to see her naked, very much so. And now there's this caveat: The video is being used to spread a computer virus

    the video I downloaded wasn't a virus. and you're right, it's rude of me to watch it. But I literally couldn't help it because she's so hot. It sucks for her to have her privacy invaded like that. Fortunatly, she doesn't do anything of embarressment during the video. It's just her combing her hair...but completely naked. It'd almost be tasteful if it wasn't filmed by some creepy stalker through a hole in the wall.

    Pretty much. But it's not that much different from the way women's morals go out the window if there's a chance to get more attention from a charming guy. Guys go for looks, girls go for status.

    I agree with you on this. As much as I'd like to see the video it is just so wrong. on one hand I so want to see it, but knowing she was totally taken advantage of is hard to fathom supporting it. I actually feel bad for her and I usually don't much care about others feelings. I don't think I can imagine the feeling of being violated like this and then having it out on the web for the world to see. Just awful.

    I'm not a moralist by any means, but I find this to be repulsive. It's one thing to be stupid like so many celebrities in the past and tape sexual acts without ever thinking it will be released. It's another thing to be spied on. I love EA and think she's a very beautiful person. I will not, however, be downloading this. An invasion of one's privacy is horrible and to have that privacy broadcasted to the world is flat out wrong and anybody who participates in this by watching it is just as depraved as the person who filmed it.

We live in a culture that watches hours of reality tv where people broadcast the most intimate and petty details of their private lives to the world for a little money or attention. Is it really shocking that there's a corresponding loss of respect for individual privacy?

    Just because it's prevalent doesn't mean it's right. Just because people tune in to television shows that purport some sort of "reality" doesn't make it right. Am I shocked? Absolutely not, but just because there is a pervasive corruption of morality doesn't mean that it shouldn't be pointed out whenever it occurs.

    Yeah, why is always the guys that get slammed? I know a few women who have no issue at all with having affairs, etc.

    And if Edward what's-his-fucking-face from Twilight ever walked through the door, there would be 1000s of happily married 35 year olds looking for divorce lawyers.

    oh, and I have not, nor will I watch the EA video. That's just wrong.

    I found a pretty good still photo of her but no video since there seems to be a virus on those. She is really hot i have to say.
