I have a wife and children and I love Pearl Jam more than all of them. It's close between my middle child and the band but I think PJ wins because they've been in my life for 18 years now.

    Looking forward to the record.

    so, let's see...

got some was a decent enough song, but pretty much consisted of ed singing "got some if you need it" in different notes/tones.

the fixer is pretty much ed singing "when something's gone...[different lyric]" ad nauseum.

sounds like a lot of time was spent on the lyrics

at least before when lyrics were repeated over and over the music made up for it with a "punk" vibe with heavy guitars and a driving beat (habit comes to mind). instead we have generic lyrics backed with mid tempo lounge music.
and don't get me wrong, the music isn't necessarily the problem...but...i really, really hope the rest of the album has some lyrics that don't feel as though they were purchased at ALDI's for 57 cents.

I'm assuming by your witty emoticon, you don't agree with my assessment of the song.

Don't get me wrong, I have lived and breathed this band for the past 18 years, and will continue to do so until the day I die.

But it's not that this song was bad...it's that it was SO bad. My god, why didn't they make Got Some as the first single.

One question about this song - how come on the All Star game it had a heavier sound to it? The guitars sounded a bit thicker and richer on it and here they sound a little weaker. Is it a different mix?
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

don't worry friend. when you get home and hear it, you'll realize your anxiousness was for a invalid reason.

    you aren't missing anything. :?

You know, I like it. Most times new music has to grow on me to love it. I like this one and once I know it inside-and-out, I'm sure I'll love it.

I wonder if maybe they aren't so full of angst right now and writing from a happier place and that's why it's kind of bouncy sounding. *shrugs*

In retrospect, I don't think an emoticon would have saved the joke. I forgot to add any form of humor before I posted it. Still, I don't think anybody really cares what I say anyway.

I do love me some Pearl Jam though.

haha if look back in this whole thread, you'll find we all tried to transcribe the lyrics...around page 15 (maybe 16) you'll find the finished product...it's the one i posted...the lyrics are NOT the same in The Fixer, it's just a lot of repetition with the "o" vowel with gone, on, broke, low, etc

That joke is great! I'm a big fan of humor that makes fun of the people who take Pearl Jam way too seriously!
