Real cool, glad this post is coming to something. I'm still down for whatever is planned...figuring the locals know the place best.

The other Green Tortoises, let's find each other at that hostel.

Also, a bit off topic, but looking to go caving on Sat or Sun if anyone is interested.

I think I'll go to the HI Fisherman's Wharf. It's close to the water and acording to mookie_in_eugene (10c member who's my new travel agent), it's the best area for a stay. ;)

I'm way too claustrophobic to go caving. I prefer hiking or kayaking. I'm actually looking for a good spot.

What time are you all lining up at the gate? :D
That is what I want to know. :)

I'm going there (from Montreal) for PJ and I want to be sure to get a good spot. Since I have a high 10c number, festivals or GA are almost the only chance I have to get close to the stage.
So I'll be there early and I'll probably stay in front of the same stage during the entire day. My bigest concern is that I'll be there alone and don't want to lose my spot for natural needs... :? I'll have to make good new friends I guess.

I'll be right there with you because my number is horrible too.

 I’ve been to this place and would recommend it as a meeting spot. Very close to festival site, good food and drink, great rock jukebox, TV’s showing world sports and a pool table.

Thanks for the suggestion. This will be our #1 choice.

FYI to everyone - I now have a 3 day pass available at face value ($225, which includes fees). If anyone knows someone looking for a 3 day pass please pass on the information to me. Thanks.

I'll be there. Gates for the show open at 1. So I'm gonna be at this bar early to get my drink on. This should be the pre party spot for the festival

I'd be down to help host something. I have connections with lots of bars here in town through my job. I'd love to be on this commitee. Hit me up.

If anyone isn't going to Sunday... I am hosting my own charity golf tournament and would love to have you play or come. I will be raising money for the Boy Scouts of America and will be featuring much of my Pearl Jam/ Eddie artwork in the silent auction that follows. Its guaranteed to be a cool event. Happening at Tilden Park Golf Course on Sunday August 30. Let me know if you'd like to be involved... Good cause... good friends.. good times.

    Cheers.

I was wondering when you were gonna show up your lovely face under this thread :D
This is really not anything official but you know you might want to talk with FoxyMop. They might be interested in having a Wishlist party.

just want to poke my head in here and make a small correction ... or, highlight something.

While this pub is popular, and is indeed on the edge of GG Park, it really isn't close to the festival. It's about 2 miles away.

Stanyan is on the eastern most border of GG Park ... the festival is by the polo field, which is around 33rd Avenue, about 3/4 of the way towards the western edge of the park.

If this is for a Thursday meet up, it shouldn't be an issue. Just didn't want folks to think this was right outside the festival.

  • It'll be easy for me to go to any place in the city the night before the festival. Where do you all want to have the get together? Close to the actual festival location?

**I still have a 3-day pass that I'm trying to sell for $230**

Since this place is the only one that came out so far, I think it's still our best choice. So I suggest Thursday around 7-8 pm.
In order to identify each other, I also suggest that one of us wears a PJ t-shirt - sorry I don't have any .
  • We are coming in Tuesday the 25th from Seattle, and staying in the North Beach/Fisherman's Wharf area
if there is enough interest in a preparty fundraiser for a local charity- I would be glad to help.

I just returned from a week long stay in San Francisco. Gawd I love that city. There is so much for a hick from the sticks like me to do and see, I just wished that the festival was at a different time so that we could have threw that into the mix, but the kids start high school the 24th.

North Beach Pizza is delicious. The Tut exhibit is worth seeing if you stay around for a few days.

Thanks for volunteering. I'll try to post an "official pre-party" thread this week. Once that is posted I think everything will begin to be more organized.

  • I haven't seen that an official pre-party has been set yet..?? But I just moved to the city 3wks ago, (and I used to live here a couple years ago), so I know it pretty well.. I'll be on the look out for other bars around the area.

If anyone needs suggestions on places to stay... help with how to get around... or needs an air mattress lemme know! :D

I started the meet up thread a few days ago in the Porch section.

There are currently 3 meetups in total so far. Wed, Thurs, and Friday. I can't wait!!!
