Outside Lands San Fran hangings

Coming in for the San Fran show and wanted to check if there are any PJ parties or hangings going on Thursday night or the weekend. Or, maybe a post concert camping trip. We're staying at the Green Tortoise Hostel, anyone else? Just seeing what the PJ fan happenings are that weekend.

Sorry if there has been a similar topic, I searched first and didn't find anything.

Thanks.

  • Having a PJ get together on Thursday before the show sounds great. We did something like that a few years ago before the Bridge School performance and the DJ at the did some sort of mash up with Alive and some other song, maybe a hip-hop type song. :? I left before that happened, but apparently it was a bit bizarre.

I would definitely be interested in this.

I'm going to SF after living here in Rome for a year and this is my heading home to Australia stopover. Looking forward to seeing what sounds to be a very cool city.

    Peace

Sounds good to me for Thursday night.
I might stay at the Green Tortoise too (or at the HI Downtown hostel).

Is there anyone who's going to Chicago and OLF?

that would be me. Also, if anyone needs a OSL 3-day pass, I've got an extra.

Do you think that we should go directly from the get together on Thursday night directly to the park? 8-) :ugeek: ;)

Are you up for a pre-show party on Thursday?

I'd be interested in that. However going over to GGP right after the party might not be the best idea :D

Hey! I'm going to outside lands and should be in san fran by 7pm thurs by the airline itinerary and staying with an old high school friend. she lives at 6th ave and market (i think market is the crossing street, not sure entirely)....

I know she'd be up for meeting at a bar to celebrate or what have you.......

6th and Market? That's a bit of a rough area.

I'll look into one of the bars near the park.

Since you seem to know the city and it's nice/rough areas, can you tell me wich place would be the best to stay or wich one you suggest not to stay.
    Larkin / Ellis
    Broadway / Kearny
    Bay / Franklin (Fisherman' Wharf)
Ofarrell / Mason (near Union Square Park)

    thanks for your help

a thurs night meetup sounds fun, but what does everyone think of having a designated bar or something for a post-show meetup?? that way we can all reflect on what a badass show it was and unwind, have a few drinks, etc. does that sound like a cool idear?

i am not up for lining up early, there are plenty of other bands i want to see that day, and not all of them will be on the same stage. i will fight down the front.
Somewhere downtown would be better wouldn't it?

Anybody know if there will be a PJ poster or will they all be OSL posters? I just want one to hang in the game room.

    Thanks

i will fight down the front.
Well, I suggest you don't come near me then. Because I am certainly not letting up front some smartypant hanging out at other stages all day and then try to make their way up to the front while all the rest of us stayed there all day just to keep our spots. So, yeah, good luck with that.

Wow, it looks like i plan on starting a fight down the front  na thats not my idea of fun  i should read my posts and i might have said i will fight my way down to the front. festival crowds come and go so assuming incubus are on the stage before PJ, i will start to move in before then when people move out 8-)
we will wait till we see the timetable, but i dont see the point of standing on a rail all day waiting for just 1 band while missing others that they want to see

    1) Bay/Franklin

    2) Broadway/Kearny (It's next to a lot of gentlemen clubs...so it may increase or decrease the ranking depending on what you like or don't like 8-) )

    3) Ofarrell / Mason

    4) Larkin / Ellis

Bay/Franklin is by far the best place out of the 4 choices. Of/Mas & Lar/Ell are in an area that has drug issues and just people "down on their luck". Broad/Kearny I have already commented on this area above.

You should also try using google maps and its street view to look at the areas.

    Cheers.

Real cool, glad this post is coming to something. I'm still down for whatever is planned...figuring the locals know the place best.

The other Green Tortoises, let's find each other at that hostel.

Also, a bit off topic, but looking to go caving on Sat or Sun if anyone is interested.

That is what I want to know. :)

I'm going there (from Montreal) for PJ and I want to be sure to get a good spot. Since I have a high 10c number, festivals or GA are almost the only chance I have to get close to the stage.
So I'll be there early and I'll probably stay in front of the same stage during the entire day. My bigest concern is that I'll be there alone and don't want to lose my spot for natural needs... :? I'll have to make good new friends I guess.
