Based on some of the posts on this board - ex. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=103380&hilit=toronto+lottery - it seems as if the lottery system is going to be the norm for shows. Even though I'm not really a fan of this, ultimately, being four rows further back doesn't really hurt all that badly.0 -

If proper LOGIC is applied to the "Random" system (for rows 1,2 and 9,10), then:
First, the 10C folks randomly select from ALL 10C ticket holders, the winners for Rows 1 and 2.
Then the 10C fills Rows 3 thru 8 by seniority from the remaining 10C ticket holders. This prevents anyone with seniority from getting Rows 9 or 10 (i.e. if they should get rows 3-8 instead of 9 or 10).
Then the 10C randomly selects from the remaining 10C ticket holders to fill up Rows 9 and 10.
The rest of the seats are then filled by seniority from the remaining pool of 10C ticket holders.Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green0 -

doesn't sound very random. if there is preference to seniority for the row 9-10 lottery, then 10c knows who is sitting where and assigns seats. random would mean every ticket pair purchased would have an equal chance for row 1-2 or 9-10 irregardless of the #.
just sayin.0 -

That's just semantics. What Olderman stated is the correct and fair way. So I guess it's not random then if it's just 4 rows technically(1, 2, 9, & 10) instead of all the seats.

all i can say reading this, is thank god in the uk, its usually standing up front, therefore no need to worry about what row your going to be seated in,(for those who want to get up front). okay seating may be more comfortable, but i'd rather be standing any dayGlasgow cathouse-1992-2-23, San diego sports arena-1995-11-06 & 07, Glasgow secc-2000-06-03, Tampa st petes times forum-2003-04-13, London O2 arena-2009-08-18, Belfast odyssey arena-2010-06-23.Leeds 2014 - 07-080

I really hope the lottery is the norm going forward. I think it is a great, great system. If you have been a 10C member since 92 then yes you have pretty much have been front row 17 years. So you may be 3rd row for a few shows. THATS STILL AMAZING. I appreciate that the beauty of a PJ show is the energy of the fans. It starts at row 1 with an intensity that is not matched at any other major live show and spreads like a contagion to row 2, row 3, row 10 people still rocking the f out and to row 30 and its so intense that it spreads all the way to the very back and top of the arena and the band feeds off of it and gives us an amazing show in return. It is a show for the fans helped created by the energy of the fans. But jaded 15 year 10C veteran, I ask you, what about the pure joy, sheer elation of someone already pumped to be seeing this amazing live band suddenly realizing they are front row. THAT IS INTENSE. Those people who were coming into the show with a level 10 intensity anyway, are now at a 13, That is the BEAUTY of the lottery. I really think its fair and you will still have an amazing show from the 3rd row, should you have gotten bumped back a row or two. Some people may have been 5 years old in 1992, but that doesn't mean they wont be ecstatic to get a random front row seat. They shouldn't be penalized to potentially have the opportunity (to sit way up close) that you have had multiple, multiple times just because they weren't even born. Some people may have gotten into the band later on, but that doesnt make them any less of a fan. The most important thing is that the 10C system gives the best seats to the real fans and avoids stiffs who scalp tickets from knocking down the level of intensity. I truly hope the lottery stays, although I've never won it, I can still hope!'98: Camden 1 '00: JB2 '03: MSG1 '04: Boston 1 '05: AC1
