I tried this last year and it lasted about a week. This year is different! LIncecum, Cain, and PABLO!!!

Watch out LA, you do not have the pitching to win a best of 7 series!

Yeah that's right! Your first no-no of 2009 belongs to Jonathan Sanchez of the San Francisco Giants!
  • Im a Yank fan but must say...im really starting to dig SF Giants. Your team is fun to watch , can't help but route for them. Pitching is sick. I just dont understand Lincecum. He looks like hes 14 years old but is ridiculously nasty.

I think a lot of NYers still enjoy the giants given their ties to NY. Plus our version of the Giants dont mess around!!

I'm a lifelong Giants fan. I never thought I would see a no hitter in my lifetime. The funny thing is that we've had like 5 games this year in which a starter has carried a no hitter into the 6th inning. Timmy almost threw one the night before Sanchez. We've got a farm system that's loaded as well. Madison Baumgartner is a freakish talent and Buster Posey is the most athleticly gifted catcher I've ever seen. If the starters stay healthy and we can add one more bat we'll dominate the NL for the next 5 to 7 years. Sandoval not making the All Star squad is a joke. When will Bud Selig wake up and stop taking at least one player from each team? He wants the game to matter but yet he forces each league to take crap players from crap teams.

Another Yankee fan here, but my Dad is a huge Giants fan, going back to the Polo Grounds. Caught the end of that game last night, very impressive. i hear SF is one of the finalists to get Halladay. If that happened, they would instantly become the team nobody wants to meet in the playoffs

BIG fan....but more stressed by PJ tickets right now. Very rare that something puts my Giants on the back burner.

Life long Red Sox fan now living in San Francisco ... so, I've "adopted" the Giants as my NL team. (Don't think for a second I'd cheer for them over the Sox though)

After the Zito signing a few years ago (aguably, the worst signing in major league history) I really didn't have much hope for these guys for a while. But, they are proving what many of us knew to be true ... pitching wins.

Pablo Sandoval - Kung Fu Panda. That nickname cracks me up.

They need a bat for the stretch run ... maybe two. Jermaine Dye would be a nice add.

By the way ... if you get a chance to go to AT&T Park ... do it ... probably in my top three in parks I've been to. Just, dress warm.

I forgot to mention,,,,,a main reason for me now taking a liking to SF is because Bonds is gone. That dude was the worst. I even needed a year for him to be out of the picture before i took interest. Kinda like guilty by association.

    But thats the past!

If we get in the playoffs, which it's looking like we will, don't be surprised if we go deep. Our pitching is set up to dominate a 5, or even 7 game series.

    Game 1-Lincecum, good luck.
Game 2-Cain, once again, good luck.
Game 3-Probably Johnson, the man's post season experience speaks for itself.

Let's go ahead and say a team sneaks a win off of one of those guys. You're looking at Timmy again in game 4 thanks to the days off that are given in a playoff series.

If we can't catch the dodgers in the west I would GLADLY take beating them in the NLCS. :D

I agree with your assessment, but last night's injury to Cain (w/ Unit already on the DL) shows just how tenuous our position could be. The pitching has to stay healthy. Thankfully, Cain's x-rays were negative.

This (at least for me) is an easy team to like. I saw them last weekend and the vibe is sooooooooooo much different than the past few years. Even if the Giants were to miss the playoffs :( at least you're not forced to watch a bunch of overpaid old guys like Moises Alou, Michael Tucker, Hillenbrand, Grissom, Klesko, Durham, etc. If there was a smilie for puking, I'd insert it after those names! Panda, Ishikawa, and Schierholtz are bringing back the vibe of Robby, Will and Matty. At lot of these younger guys spray the ball all over the place and can actually run!

And even the overpaid guys..........Zito is a cool guy and is busting his ass. Can't hate him just because the Giants gave him a stupid contract. They overpaid for Rowand too, but do think Moises Alou or any of the other bums I mentioned would have saved Sanchez's no-hitter with that catch?? Hell, no!!

I'm a little conflicted about "getting a bat." a) I don't want to give up anything (other than Fred Lewis  ) and b) every "bat" to come into Pac Bell is going to see a decline. I'll guarantee you Pablo would have 20+ HR already if he played in Philly's homer haven.

    GO GIANTS! :mrgreen:HUMM BABY!

Reading all of those old players names that have come and gone the last few years is almost as painful as watching Fred Lewis play left field. I agree with you about being hesitant of trading for a bat. Our offense has really picked up the last month. Now if we could only find a way to get Armando Benitez back for the stretch run...;)

I wouldn't mind unloading Zito. Even if we have to pay half is salary for the next 4 years, that would amount to 36 million dollars as he's due 72 million. We could use that money to find a bat and give Timmy the extension he deserves. Zito's contract is holding the team back. He's taking up 20% of the payroll and he's our 4th best starter and even that's a stretch on days like today. Baumgartner is nearly ready, Alderson is another stud plus Sadowski and Sanchez are decent as well. It's time to unload Zito at any cost. Sabean needs to admit his blunder and move on. We don't want to go into arbitration with Timmy next year. He's agent could argue he's worth 20 million plus and he'd probably have a good case. We need to get his extension done soon. They did it for Cain and Lowry so what's taking so long with Timmy?

Agreed....but what other team would even pay half of Zito's salary?? I'm not sure anyone would take Barry even if the Giants picked up 3/4 of his salary. :(

Worst case scenario, to open the second half. The bottom feeding Pirate own the Giants - 17 out of the last 22.  :(

Saturday edit: 18 out of 23 :(. I'd feel bad for Zito but the $18M per year ought to comfort him a little.

To call the first ten games of the second half frustrating would be an astronomical understatement. Lucky we one three games on that road trip. Offense was non-existent. Let's hope they keep being a stellar home team.

11 games over .500.....high water mark of the season, I think.

Who's this Joaquin dude who wasted what would have been our NL leading (MLB leading?) 15th shutout in the 9th? :(
