Please help me... I'm @ the JoBros show....zzzzzzz....

  • Time for my 1st post.

Went to the Jonas Bros last week- took my daughter (she's 8). Acted like it was the greatest show ever- it was kinda funny to be honest! Worth three times the amount of money I paid just to see her face and sing and clap!

Then took my son (11) to Green day- now that show was outstanding! Seriously... big time (I'm not that huge a fan... expected something decent... but they far exceeded my expectations and were awesome).

There are some outstanding tours right now- saw Dave Matthews in Vegas (going again to the Gorge). Going to U2 in Vancouver in October.

But... like all you people... I have been faithfully checking in to the site for show updates. Contemplated Toronto. Still thinking about Calgary. Want Vancouver like a desperate, desperate man. I think we'll get them. I hope their new album is sweet.

For the record, 'Jeremy' is an outstanding tune. All you self proclaimed Pearl Jam gold medal fans who think the recordings of their farts are far superior than any 'mainstream' Pearl Jam need to lighten up just a touch- but not too much! Ten really did it for me when I was going to university. I would argue for that album over any other Pearl Jam album till late, late in the evening over beers... in fact... I think I have.

Good luck with your tickets people.
of all the times/threads to lay down your first post. LOL.

but u salvaged it somehow.... so you get a....

    nice, first, post.

    :-)

    welcome to hell.

I have to give them credit though.... They have the crowd worked up and they APPEAR to be playing their own instruments......

    Thanks for the welcomes, fellas!

thank you for the unintentional back-up. :)

To the OP: your niece will remember you texting, posting, twitting, whatever, instead of enjoying the show WITH her. If you're like 99% of most PJ loving males, you're probably watching a sports game, too. Taking her there isn't enough and shame on me for thinking people still think the way I do.

edit-so many times, people here bitch about seeing people at a PJ show that aren't doing what they're 'supposed' to be doing.

same shit here. whatever. I'm obviously getting my period. lmao!

whew, guess i'm in the 1%... don't like baseball, basketball or football... and I don't have an iphone so i couldn't watch jack crap while at the Jonas Bro's show.

edit: and just to be clear, I did my Uncle duties this weekend for sure. Drove 4 hours to watch my nephew race is quad (4 wheeler)... ended up being one of the flagmen (flag persons if you will, not sure how far holier-than-thou will go tonight) on the track coz they were short a few people... talk about getting in the action. I did however send a text or 10 to my brother who was in the pits, as he asked me if I had a good viewpoint on the race and if there were good places to pass, and if his son was gaining or losing ground in my section of the track. Now... do I get points for helping, or do i lose points for texting while at the function for my nephew?

I can't stand sports myself..... And the woman above couldn't be more wrong about my Niece... We were high-fiving and hugging the whole show..... I really can't believe she TRIED to make me feel bad about taking my niece to see her favorite band.

It's like: Take your warm milk and go to bed already.... Or at least spread your hate on another thread. Ugh.

dude, your hate for the jonas brothers fueled my words. you were high-fiving in between checking your iphone or blackberry or whatever.

    disconnect and LIVE.

edit--did you start this thread after the show was over? just looked at the time,,, you wouldn't be @ the show then...

my apologies and be more specific in the future, thanks

All the same... Here's to hoping we don't catch the same PJ shows this fall. You're not going to Chicago, right? Good.

are you serious? Yes, I'm going to Chicago. I live here so this is my territory. You stay away, ok? Really... that's not a threat, right?

I'm joking and I hope you are too. About the chicago shows, not the concert if you played with your electronics all night.

what kind of needy fuckin kids are you trying to advocate? since when is paying for tickets and sitting through a show not enough?? thats the problem with kids these days... they expect too much... :P

besides im sure she was too locked in on the jonas' to notice a couple posts from the phone... technology is part of life these days... i certainly wouldnt have thought twice even if i did notice it

You're sweet for trying to diffuse the current dialogue. There might be some truth to your words. I just think that something is lost when an electronic is involved. My 13 year old nephew didn't know where a stamp belonged on an envelope... that's crazy.

I CAN see your point.... But the fact is technology helped me procure the tickets, pay for parking, and it enabled my niece to text her mom and thank her for letting her go to the show. Oh, and it also provided periodic amusement in between the hugs and high fives...

It's not that I care about what you do with your time... I care that what I'm teaching my children today won't mean shit when they grow up. They are going to be in the minority and that doesn't sit well. You're a nice person for taking her to a JB concert. If you had posted AFTER the show, this internet conversation wouldn't have happened.

you said it yourself--- you needed periodic amusement at a concert. the concert itself and being there with your niece wasn't enough. everyone needs MORE and they need it NOWWWWWW!!

Also, as I said earlier... soooooo many comments here have been about people at PJ shows doing the same thing. If you need and want that, fine. just don't come back here after chicago and bitch about the people around you not doing what you want them to do.

helloooo? emails require no postage... all other mail is obsolete!

on the other hand, your sibling oughta step up the parenting

on the broader topic you bring up - its definitely scary to see that todays overprotective/involved parenting is doing more damage than the stern, neglectful parenting of the baby boomer generation... i think new parents are trying to make up for that with their own kids and its making for even more mistakes... kids have no fuckin manners any more, theyre greedy, they dont know how to behave in public... i hear ya on being the minority on child rearing beliefs... scares the living hell out of me... hopefully i wont end up in an old folks home 60 years from now...

    O.K. ... so it's the day after...

Although I still regard the JoBros as more of a product than a band, I gotta tip my hat to them: they are all less than 20, but they seemed to be having a good time up there, and their ability to play multiple instruments was impressive. My niece had a great time and that was really the whole point.

    So.... thanks JoBros. : )

I just want to say I think it’s sweet for a dad, uncle, cousin whatever to do this. I know for damn sure my dad wouldn’t have taken me to like a new kids concert. Girls need their dad’s just as much as boys.

I don’t see the problem with what the guy is doing. He was in tween hell that night and needed an escape.

thanks dude(s)... it seems as though it was really just the one person who somehow had a problem with it, and from about 6 hours away with no prior knowledge of... well... anything. i guess she was just bored and needed to vent. i'm over it. i'm sure she is too.

but it did feel pretty damn cool that i was the only male in my entire section... think of all those dads who couldn't even bring themselves to be there... it was literally just soccer moms and their 6 to tween year olds...

coverd in bliss - I totally feel what you're saying. I hate it when I'm trying to have dinner, watch a movie, BE with someone, and they're busy talking to someone else on the phone, text, internet what-have-you. LIVE IN THE MOMENT. I'd feel sad if I was at a Pearl Jam concert with my boyfriend and I was stoked and he was looking at his phone most of the time unhappy. Yeah.

i get what you are getting at.... but please let's not compare those of us on this board going to to a pearl jam show to listen to and feel the music.... and 25,000 screaming girls with their moms just hoping nick jonas sweats on them. it's not EVEN the same thing. they really couldn't give a f*ck about the people around them.

plus, i think coveredinbliss painted this picture in her head (and subsequently all of your's) of me laughing and texting away while my niece looked up at me and cried because i was ignoring her. i literally posted ONE of those messages while the JoBros were onstage, the rest of the time i was "enjoying" the music with her. i think that's why i was so taken aback by what she was saying.... she didn't have the foggiest idea of the situation yet she was passing judgement. (and fairly harsh jusgement too.... "just taking her to the show isn't good enough") to say nothing of the fact that i got done with work that night, drove an hour and twenty minutes across state lines to pick her up, drove directly to the Target Center for the show, then got up at 6 the next morning to make the hand-off back to her dad before i went to work.

not trying to paint myself in golden light here, but..... ah f*ck it, i am. : ) jk!!
