the holiday inn in philly is the closest to the venue, but there are cabs to get you to wachovia from anywhere... a large cluster of hotels around 3 miles from the venue.

Why would someone pay regular rates when there are always deals on priceline and hotwire? Usually a much better hotel for a much lower rate

In all honesty and reality, you dont necessarily need to stay in Philly. You can stay in a ton of hotels across the river in South Jersey, take the speedline into center city and then hop on something that takes you down to South Philly. There are a lot of very nice and affordable hotels in Voorhees, Mount Laurel, Cherry Hill etc. There are also plenty of hotels at/near the Philly airport, only a few miles South of the Spectrum

This is not always true....there have been plenty of times where I have called a hotel directly and got better pricing...

I've called around for a few group rates and they all seem higher than what we could probably get on Priceline or the like...

    Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Downtown
    1800 Market Street
    Philadelphia, PA 19103
$99/night (in Wed, out Sun AM)

    Holiday Inn Philadelphia-Stadium
    900 Packer Avenue
    Philadelphia, PA 19148
    $104/night (same)

    Holiday Inn Express Midtown
    1305 Walnut Street
    Philadelphia, PA 19107
doesn't have availability for a group rate those days

My advice would be to not stay at the Holiday Inn. That hotel is a shithole and there is nothing really close by except for the stadiums and some sports bars. Downtown is a much better atmosphere (restaurants, bars, shops, etc) and it isn't hard to take public transportation/cabs to the sports complex.

Hmm...any suggestions for hotels downtown within a reasonable cab ride from the Wachovia?

option 1 or 3 on the list of hotels sent out earlier are good choices. Cab will probably run you about $20-$30 from Center City to the stadiums.

Check out the Hyatt on Columbus Blvd...it is a straight shot to the stadium (tell the cab driver to take you straight down Columbus, past Ikea), but I think that hotel may be more expensive than the other options.

Good luck and feel free to PM me with any questions.

the football game shouldn't effect hotel bookings. NY is less than a two hour drive/train ride to philly.

If the NL wins the all star game I could see that effecting hotel availability...game one of the WS is saturday, 10/31. If the NL wins the media will start booking rooms in philly and LA.

I still can't believe the fucking all star game determines who gets home field in the World Series. Such a dumb rule

It's right off the subway right? So we could stay at a hotel that is near a subway stop and then just hop on to the show?

That sounds ideal if I can manage this trip - I've heard Philly is a rough town at spots, but I'm assuming that shouldnt be a problem in that area?

    thanks!!

    agreed

and philly is like any other major city...there are really bad areas and there are really nice areas. It is a great city with tons of stuff to do...it gets a bad rap because of the idiot sports fans
  • stop it. just stop it. all hotels are booked. there are no hotels available in all of philadelphia...might as well not even try for the tickets.

If they announce shows there are tons of hotels a few miles south of the spectrum airport area and there is a subway stop just outside of the spectrum for the broadstreet line septa.org has times and routes. depending on football schedule and actual dates annoucned the close hotels to the venue maybe booked solid.
So many amazing shows! Thank you.

    Married? I'm nineteen!
But at the same time, Priceline lets you choose a star rating and an area - you can end up with good results, and save money. I'm staying in Chicago with about 150 other PJ fans at the Hyatt Regency for $60 a night - a four star hotel in a great area. Give it a try - put a star rating in, and put in a bid.
