While I understand your reasoning, I think you need to remember that not all members with high numbers are fans that only just got around to signing up etc.

How bout the next generation of fans?? The teenagers who have only just found PJ's music, and decided to become a member. It's not like they had an opportunity to sign up when, say, you did. There is every chance you have been a member for 10-15 plus years to secure that low to mid number. Some of these new fans didnt have that luxury - they would have been toddlers etc. They shouldnt be locked out of good 10C seats purely because you are older and had the chance to get membership while they were getting their baby teeth.

    Just my opinion

Anywho, the lottery is not a bad idea for additional shows in the same city - mixes it up a bit.

    Well, not quite...

I don't know why, but it's often forgotten that seniority didn't actually exist when most low-numbered folks joined up. It's only been in place since, what, 2000?

So the whole "I've maintained my 10c membership since 1992 for the tickets!" argument is pretty much bullshit. You might get that benefit now but you certainly didn't keep paying your 10c membership through the 90's for that reason.

OK, think of it this way...

Some of us have spent hundreds of dollars to renew every year.

Isn't it reasonable to think that those people should be granted better seats?

As for the "next" generation of fans... While I'm sure a band wouldn't mind "new blood"... it would be foolish to disrespect fans that have been members since the beginning. Wouldn't it?

So basically they people who were born late the "next" generation should be shafted back cause they havn't spent hundreds of dollars, only because they have been not earning money since they are too young to work, some may even be too young to even say pearl jam, yes seniority should stay, but whats the big problem in having a few rows as a lottery. woo big woop. dickheads like you will be one row behind than what you usually would be. the band probably get sick of seeing the big dick coming out of your head anyways. :D

I like the lottery idea as well. My number is higher like 324 or something. I joined the club back in 94 but lived in the middle of no where and they never played close enough for me to get to. Being young and not able to drive on my own did not help either so i let my membership lapse. I've always been a fan. Just because i don't have a low ten club number surely does not mean I'm any less of a fan. It just did not make sense for me to keep up my memebership back then

That said i do understand folks who are used to great seats and having "paid their dues" wanting to keep seniority.

I was about 11 rows back for the ed solo concert and it was so awesome. I just thought man i'll never be this close for pearl jam, but how cool would it be if it was.

I really think over the years 10C has tried to do right by us but lets face it-things got too huge! The whole seniority thing just doesn't work as well as it used to especially in venues in heavily PJ fan populated NE! Many of us have been members a long time & yet have never had good seats. I just wish we knew 1st about shows (that used to be the way!) & if I find out any non-10Cer has better seats than me-I will kick their asses

Saw Chris Cornell back in April @ E. Factory & was right up front. Course it's GA & there were some really sucky people there. It just is the popularity factor. The very thing we love about them-the fact that they are the f'in best band-makes it harder for some fans to even get to see them. Will be interesting to finally get announcement & maybe find out a new trick has been thrown in-kinda fun in a sick way. No matter what there will always be people pissed for not getting what they want. As I'm stuck home today w/no car-hope to hear today just wished my comp wasn't SOOOO slow!
