Wow :o  - that story sounds almost exactly as mine. I finally got to meet Ed after 18 years, and it was my birthday, too. What a coincidence. It was my first solo show and I hung around the back of the venue for about 2 hours, even after the bus driver and his bodyguard told us he wasn't coming out. I had given up and was actually in my car getting ready to leave when they come out and told us that he was coming out to shake hands. (I parked near his bus - within 15-20 feet - hoping I would see him after the show) So I almost didn't meet him!! But when he finally came up to me to shake my hand, (this was not a gated venue) I was so shocked at the fact that I was actually face to face with Eddie Vedder, that I didn't know what to say to him. So I finally got the words out of my mouth "It's my birthday and you've made my birthday the best birthday that I could ever have" (something to that extent) - (which after the fact, I thought "I finally get to meet Ed and that's all I could come up with!!! ) and he responds with "Thank you, and a very happy birthday to you" Now I was really in shock - thinking "I am actually having a conversation with Eddie Vedder." After that, I couldn't tell you what I said or what he said, if anything was even said at all - because I was still in awe over the fact that he was standing within 1 foot of me .. So I TRULY understand where you are coming from. It's been over a week since I finally got to meet him, and I am still floating on clouds. I don't think this feeling will ever go away!!!!!!!

Anyways - great story, it was a joy to read . . . and Happy Late Birthday!!!:mrgreen:

Well this story probably sounds like many of the stories we’ve heard over the last 3 weeks since many people have met him at the solo shows but needless to say this was such a special night for me.
I’ve never been one to wait around the tour bus or outside the venue; I don’t think there is anything wrong with it I think it was more because I’m kinda shy for that type of stuff.

I went to Atlanta with my BFF for night 1 and we waited for a bit before the show, and stuck around a little after his bus pulled up, the venue was gated so no real access to the bus at all, we waited about 30 minutes after he arrived but he didn’t come out so we left and went to the pre-party and then to the show.
The show was out of this world! Getting I Am a Patriot and Golden State were 2 of the highlights for me that night. A few hecklers but not to to bad. Overall the show was just amazing!!

After the show we decided to wait outside the venue, we really didn’t know if we were going to have any luck as like I said this was a gated venue so he didn’t really have to mingle with the fans if he didn’t want to.
We got to the back around 11:45pm we were probably a crowd of 40 at the beginning, but then his driver and his security guard came out a couple of times and told us Ed wouldn’t be coming out, we didn’t really know what to think, so we stuck around. Some people had left by the second time the security guard came out, the crowd was down to like 20 people at that point.

The security guard came out a third time a little after 1am and told us to get on our feet and backs to the gate, we didn’t know what to think at this point, for a second we thought we were being kicked out. Then he said the rules will be no autographs and no pictures, he will come down the line and he will shake everyone’s hand, he told us we could take pictures as he walked by but no to ask him for any pictures, we got a couple pictures with my friend Amy’s phone as he walked by.

Well right at the time Ed came out everyone was silent as he walked down the line, it was surreal. I couldn’t believe that after 18 years or following this band I was finally going to meet him!!! My legs were shaking

This next part was that most exciting for me and I will never ever forget it.. (I hope I don’t sound pretentious for sharing this with you guys, but I have to because this was just SO special! ) … anyways Ed worked himself down the line got to my BFF shook her hand and then he got to me. He stood on front of me, I shook his hand and said “Thank you for coming out to say Hi to us”, then he looked at me again and said “You are gorgeous” .. and I about fucking fainted right there and then! I had to look at my friends standing next to me to confirm he had said what I thought he had said! Needless to say I was in the clouds!!!
I by no means consider myself gorgeous, dont consider myself ugly either  but right at that moment I felt my heart was going to pump out of my chest!! :D

Meeting him was worth every single second of waiting outside for almost 2 hours, the wait wasn’t to bad as I got to spend it with some very special girls, my BFF (Eddie’sMuse) and VedderGirl_77 and jecica who were just wonderful company!

I had the time of my life!! and I just had to share my joy with ya’ll as most people don’t understand what’s the big deal

    Urs,

PS: A very big thank you to Amy (my BFF) for giving me the tkt for my birthday!

Awesome story thanks so much for sharing it with us. :)
