THAT is the question isn't it? ;)
i can wait until spring....but i also don't like the idea of 2009 passing without even 1 pearl jam show for me. so we shall see...
I continue to believe that there will be US tour this fall, including the northeast.
After all, we have to subsidize those southern shows that are allegedly planned ;);)
And I think they will play AUS/NZ after new years, and perhaps Asia in the early spring
I dont mind waiting. I have been lucky enough to see a show every year since 03 and that hartford show last summer can tide me over for awhile.:mrgreen:

me too....hate to ruin such a great streak. ;)
how i WISH they'd hit NY once more this year, would be great.,
i am reading rumors of pj in oz/kiwiland this november.
would be GREAT if they played down under after new years, few more months to save...and also the possibility of hubby getting the time off. i just hope we get a BIG announcement, or at least close together....see where/when they are playing EVERYwhere. would make things so simple. and yes i know, i'm dreaming....;)
she dreams in color ,she dreams in red,,,cant find a better.....BAND...!!!!!!!!!

most of the 11pm curfew venues are amphitheaters. don't think they'll be playing too many of those in october.

I still remember my very first concert ever. Alpine Valley (Wisconsin) on Columbus Day Weekend (October)where it was 26 degrees and I loved every moment of it! They did cut that show short though. Looking back at Touring Band 2000 I can see how Mike could barely move his fingers!

Just sayin if they don't want to do a full tour so everyone can catch them to support their new and old music then I will wait to get it free or used instead of buying it at full price.  Never thought I'd see the day they would go corporate but I guess it's how they want to roll now.  Have seen them since they were opening acts for others and now IMO they are ignoring the fans who made them and stuck with them in the lean years for no apparent reason  except cash.  Sad to me because they are a great live band and have had many good times seeing them over the years and met many very nice, solid people.  Older bands are still doing full tours including the E Street Band so it looks a bit selfish on their part.  If you think it's just about my high 10 number it's not. My membership has been lost  twice already even though they can find stuff I purchased from many years back, but I am not the only one this has happened to from talking to other older fans.  Been to the Spectrum before and all that comes to mind is WC Field's epitaph.  Have fun to those going but the added expense of another out of town trip when our kids are back in school and the high price of gas, tickets, and use of vacation time aren't worth it to me for this venue.  My sister lives near Cherry Hill but I won't try very hard.  I could rationalize MSG better. To each his/her own. Good luck to those vying for the couple hundred seats available and the thousands of people from all over trying to get them.  Guess we'll know definitively later today how they really feel about ALL their fans.

Just letting it vent Dimitri. Have an abcessed tooth that hurts like hell and a released public announcement struck an already painful raw nerve. Nothing a few meds, sleep, and better tour management won't ease.;-)

I would prefer no opening band w/ two sets too. For some shows I don't mind opening bands, but I'd love to not have an opener for PJ, even though I have enjoyed so many of them in the past.

    but at the least
PLEASE STOP PLAYING VENUES WITH STRICT 11pm CURFEWS.... lets call a spade a spade ED doesnt like hittin the stage before 8 45 for solo or band shows... please stop the 11pm shit... the band has 30 songs on the setlist every night IT SUCKS when you know they have to cut it short!!!
I was at a show in Irvine Meadows when Eddie said, "Fuck the curfew - we'll pay the fine!" He had so much more to give and so did the band - you could just tell they weren't done for the night. And the band played on.... 8-)

The more PJ the better so I'm all for eliminating the opening act.

who thinks that for the Backspacer tour next year that PJ should not have a opening act !!
I would love to see 2 sets w/ an encore, give a 20 min break between the first and second sets.
more PJ !! less worry about curfew at certain venues and we get a solid 3 hour show.

I agree. The more PJ the better

 If Chicago doesnt have and opener it will be a 3 set night the boys always support acts. Do a acoustic set ala STL 04 VFC in the middle then finish with the punch. Hope to see a new mix of old like Rival, All those Yesterdays, Pilate, Brain of J., Wash, and more Covers to make the setting more unique. Santa Cruz for a pre set would be awesome. Hope to make it back home to see the boys Rock whatever. Party On friends!

don´t know if this was asked before, but since backspacer just have 36mins do you think the play the entire album at their shows?

Pearl Jam doesnt need an opener. Once you have reached the status of a Pearl jam or an AC/DC why have an opener.
Anyone else pissed about the tix for this 4 city tour? getting skunked on all angles trying to get tix.

Yeah, curfews used to be mainly in amphitheaters so they weren't keeping the neighbors up all night. But now a lot of arenas have them, mainly so the people working the show can go home at a decent time. Lazy asses.....

Curfews are indeed a UNION thing, its not only a noise ordinance thing. You'll find arenas in very heavily populated areas are also more prone to curfews because it's also usually more of a unionized area. Areas which are less populated are typically less likely to have unionized IATSE, IBEW, Security, etc, so if the union doesn't have a curfew, then they can play longer without much penalty.

    Here's a good test.

Go to a show at MSG and ask the security or usher "what's the curfew?" Chances are they'll know.

Go to a show in a less populated area and ask security "what's the curfew?" Chances are they will stare at you, wondering what you mean.

Now... that's more of an indication of whether the security has a union, because the stagehands might be unionized, but security may not be. Some venues have IATSE (stagehands) who are unions, but not the other employees. EG: When I worked at Jones Beach, the stagehands were union, but the truck loaders were not... so my old boss there would hire Hofstra football players to unload the trucks in the morning, do backstage security during the day, and load the trucks at night, all for a fraction of what unionized loaders worked for.

...anyway, um... Curfews have to do mostly with unions, and with outdoor venues, they also have additional sound curfews (except I don't think sound was ever an issue at Jones Beach since it's a public park, away from houses).
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)
