yeah, o.k. ... so he kinda fell off the sanity wagon at the end there.... Jacko still got it done in his prime, and at a level that nobody could touch. I think I'll be youtubing some MJ songs today at work....

Pearl jam took this lyric from MJ's song Ben, and used it at the end of Rats. :)

There's a reason Thriller's the best selling album of all time - and it's not because of his dancing. Genius musician, great performer, enormous icon. I'm nineteen and wasn't a fan until about a year or two ago, but when I did discover him, it did blow my mind.

I think he was a "big deal" because he was the first pop star to be seemingly unstoppable... from the first couple solo albums, to Thriller, to Bad.... he had a great run there for a while... He also was at the forefront of MTV and the music video movement. His new videos became events within themselves. These days videos are no big deal, but they were a very big deal for a while there, in the 80's. They were a way to put a face to the music, literally.

There won't ever be another Jacko, simply because the world is a much different place now. Thus, he's got a spot in history.

Michael Jackson was the first musical artists I indentified and liked when I was 4 years old. My first record was a vinyl Thriller single for my kiddy record player.

As far back as I can remember in my life, Michael Jackson's music remains one of my very first memories in this world.. I can still remember watching the Thriller video, my oldest memory in life.

Michael is with the angels now. I hope the angels have their own bed.

Just kidding...he was a rare talent and will be missed.

This whole thing is too bizarre. I can't even really take it in yet. We had a family friend who committed suicide several years back, and I still remember how it didn't sink in for weeks. These out of the blue things seem to float right by me at first, and then in a few weeks, it'll be like I just smacked into a wall.

+1 raw pixels, as sad as this is, that made me chuckle, and I vehemently think he is innocent.

I have been watching MJ videos all morning, and he had a way with melody. A true original and innovator. Plus Eddie was a big fan growing up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSqo17o2a1w

Yesterday afternoon a Belgian singer/songwriter died as well, which was already a shock being only 37 years old and then during the night the news of MJ's death reach our part of the world too.The first song played by StuBru (= national radio station) at 06.00 was Alive. Not to make fun or anything, just to say that even with all the sad news lately we are all still alive..

did i fucking say i had personal relationship with him? and do you assume that's what i need to have in order to justify my feelings of lose & sorrow?

what if it was Ed? or anyone of the band for that matter...would you feel the same?

If it was Ed, I would be weeping like mad right now. I'm sorry, but while Michael Jackson was a truly gifted person, I strongly believe he was a pedophile. If I'm wrong, then let God strike me down.

Dude. While not everyone around here really cares, some people obviously do.
As ridiculous as that may be to you, can you be civilized and try to respect that?

Anyone else sense the beauty and irony that Michael was such a troubled amazing childlike soul that he needed an "angel" (Farrah) to lead him out of this life? Their warm smiles and gentle kindness will be sorely missed.

are you insinuating that the ghost of Farrah killed Michael Jackson?

i wish every thread on this board wasn't eventually turned into a bitching match.... and i know it isn't one particular poster's fault... it'd just be nice to have a thread free of indecency is all.

MJ is gone, he may or may not have been a saint.... he was indisputably a legend in music.
  • I had an idea regarding the fact that many threads turn into attacks vs. sharing ideas and thoughts respectfully. This board is called "the porch", right? What if we asked that they create one called "the living room"? As a child, we were frequently told to use our "indoor voices"... In the living room, we could carry on respectful, thoughtful, but quiet and polite, conversations :) and the porch could be for those that want to yell with their outside voices or pick a fight :) Just a thought. :D

he was a rare talent and i was a big fan when i was a kid but innocent people don't usually pay people $20 million to go away...
