The Wachovia Spectrum (formerly known as the Spectrum (1967–1994), CoreStates Spectrum (1994–1998) and First Union Spectrum (1998–2003) is an indoor arena located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as part of the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. Completed in 1967, it seats 18,136 for basketball and 17,380 for ice hockey, Arena football, indoor soccer, and indoor lacrosse. The building will be closed and demolished following the 2008-2009 hockey and soccer seasons with the final planned event to be a concert scheduled for September 30, 2009; afterwards, the arena will be razed to make way for a new hotel in conjunction with the Philly Live! complex.[1]
The "final" date for a Spectrum show has been pushed back further and further as they realize they can milk it for more money before they finally do the deed. I believe your source is Wiki, which can be less than accurate at times.
Don't care which thread you all believe to be true, but it's happening and it will be beautiful.

Whatever naming rights one attaches to the old sardine can, there is only one Spectrum. From the gate installed to separate Paul Holmgren and Barry Beck to the wackos of section 80 , the Spectrum is an amazing venue. I'm gonna miss it. Memories ranging from the Animals tour Pig floating around to The Who's Quadrophenia tour to PJ 's 4/28/03 mindblower to 6 nights of Bruce in 84 come flowing back whenever I think of the Spectrum.

I'm going to cross my fingers, and NOT say good-bye to the Spectrum when we see Green Day there in July. I sure hope you guys are right.
It's a big cement bowl, but it's a lovable big cement bowl where I've had some of my very best concert experiences ... all the way back to the '70's.

Two separate buildings? I don't know if you read this, guy, but this is an excerpt referring all to the same building just with different sponsored names. Anyway, it's being demolished on New Year's Eve.

i just don't see the 3 nights being a reality ... they rarely give cities 3 nights ... nevermind in a row
although i guess they gave 3 nights to melbourne and San Fran in 06
they'll probably take the approach of if 2 nights sell... then 3 might happen
it's going to be tough for me to get there... but at least it's on a weekend... i can just drive down from MA on saturday at LEASHt
For the record...this is true..3 shows..I got confirmation on Friday but she didnt say what the dates were..she just said October
I just find it funny that Ed decided to mention the Spectrum at the Tower and said say goodbye for us..
Here's the email I received:
"Michael,
Hope all is well at your end! We have heard through the grapevine that three (3) Pearl Jam concerts are being scheduled for the Spectrum in October 2009. ....an employee let us know but needs to stay anonymous...You know how that goes...rest assured...its October"

Interesting. These rumours just won't go away. I just hope that it is some time during the last week of October, since I've already booked that off at work

Sorry to disappoint those planning for a weekend/Halloween, but it's mid-week, and it is 3 days. Count on it.
I don't understand why u can't say???? Does your source check on your message pit posts???? Hook a fellow bristol pa person up with some 411. Stop by Jo jo's on new falls rd and will talk about it

There is very little wiggle room with what she is saying. If you have to book the time off work, just book the week off, wince 3 mid week shows with travel factored in will pretty much kill a week.
I do agree with your basic point though. She is basically giving us 99% of the info, so why not just say it all.

Are you sure it's not just 110% official? Or 200% official?
I think they mean three shows in the same place, three nights in a row. Three nights seems like a lot. I thought Jones Beach was relatively small (compared to MSG or something) and that's why they ended up with 3 nights. Of course I have no idea how big the spectrum is. Is it a basketball stadium like United Center or something?
The Spectrum is one of the most famous arenas in the US. The building holds 18,369 for concerts. I just saw Springsteen there for 2 nights and KOL for a night. Seeing GreenDay in July. The Spectrum is a GREAT venue for concerts.
Check out the wikipedia page if you want to read about the building's great history.
The Spectrum is a sh1thole, and its wayyy overdue to be torn down. I saw Springsteen there about 6 weeks ago, and it is insanely dated. the lines for the bathroom are absurd, and the corridors are so tiny, that you can't move before the show.
That being said, I CAN'T F*CKING WAIT FOR THESE SHOWS!!!!
This is gonna be SWEET!!!
The last time I went to a sold out show at the Spectrum it was the WIGGLES!! It was the original line-up with the first Gregg (the Yellow Wiggle). My daughter and I even gave Jeff Wiggle a high-five!! Now if we could give Jeff Ament a high-five.
There is very little wiggle room with what she is saying.
Yeah. "Mid week" would either be 10/27-29 or (less likely) 10/28-30.
If that's true about Springsteen playing 10/30 and/or 10/31, as Sharon and another poster here predicted, I'm pretty surprised. He just did his Spectrum farewell shows six weeks ago.

the idea i heard a while back was that they were planning a big show bringing back all of the acts that made the Spectrum famous (Springsteen, Dead, Joel, etc). I dont know if anything ever did or will come from this, especially since they are all either playing the Spectrum or the area, but it was being tossed around back in the early winter.
Small my table, seats just 3, its not crowded, its just lucky me
