...Leave your assholes at the door. I was 4th row (thank you 10 Club!!) ... The show started out great..although all I really left thinking was wow...Eddie must think Baltimore is a bunch of dicks... Charm City????
It seemed pretty clear that he didn't finish Arc because he wasn't into doing it.he said he "wasn't feeling it"...the shit with the crowd kept building up and to me...that was the ...ok fu I'm not gonna do this if none of your are going to do this. Liam looked pretty uncomfortable finishing "Hard Sun"..
Ed tries to put everyone into his world for a few hours at these shows..a chance for everyone to really "get" the experience of the songs... "We love you Eddie.., play Gone!, Eddie!!!...Yeah!!!..."... shut up! It's like picking up a good book and getting bothered every five minutes because someone keeps calling you on the phone.
Maybe the venue was to big and too many "public" tickets went on sale to people who still thinks everyone's yelling "Boo" at the concerts after Crazy Mary.

How could you possibly be annoyed with such a great setlist. I think the minimal amount of screamers were entertaining and eddie didn't seem to be annoyed. This show was incredible! Can't wait til tomorrow!
It was a friggin awesome show! Glad I broke the bank to go and that a friend suggested we go.... After the 2 philly shows I thought that was it....but ended up getting to see the best set list from awesome seats... Ahhhhhh still riding the high from the show.
Can't wait till tomorrow night!
"I'm not present, I'm a drug that makes you dream"
Comparing Philly 1 and Baltimore 1, I am leaning toward Baltimore. The venue was nicer and seemed to have better acoustics, the crowd didn't seem too bad, and I liked this setlist more for some reason. I wish Ed would have been "feeling" Arc, it is the one song I wanted my friend Joyce to experience, but she had no complaints, she is a converted newbie fanatic after tonight. Was happy to see Ed try Gone, one of my favorites from the last album, thought it would have worked nice in Philly following Atlantic City, but to no avail. Got to admit I was lost on some of the new songs, but enjoyed them nonetheless. Seemed like there was less story telling and more music tonight, we didn't get "Uncle Eddie" tonight.
Only complaint about the Lyric was that the balcony seats on the sides were not turned toward the stage, so we had to sit back in the seats to make sure we were not blocking the others' views. I actually didn't mind the no drink policy in the theater, keeps it from smelling like the morning after a keg party, like the Tower.
Hopefully tomorrow night's show will be just as good, if not better. I'm gonna need a vacation from my "concert-cation"!!
Sorry I missed meeting up with you CrazyPJFan!! One of these days we will have that damn beer!! My friends wanted to get in and get situated since we were all in seperate sections.
Just got home- great night, Great setlist. There was some yelling from the crowd, and Ed put them in their place and had fun with it. he seemed to be in a really good mood. He was pretty talkative. It was funny, the two guys in the row in front of me got kicked out right after Liam ended, they looked like the were tripping on acid or something.
Let See, Gone was great, took Ed a while to get it going and had to stop a few times, and the crowd sang a lot of it. Rise was dedicated to Phil Jackson after some people were yelling out about the Lakers. Ed said right after driftin that he may play 1 or 2 more Christmas single songs.
Society was great with Jerry.
Golden State was amazing. As was Santa Cruz
I really like the new song now that I got a better listen to it, its a sad song.
You could tell something was off on ARC right from the start, either the mics were not set up right or the machine was not set up right. But as soon as he started to sing it and loop it, it was off. patriot was played to make up for it. He did seem annoyed that Arc was messed up. He got fired up when he had guitar problems during hard sun too.
Great show- can't wait till tomorrow night. I hoped everyone did not think I was screwing around when I was sending over some of those songs.
during arc he stopped abruptly. the lights were off and he wasnt singing it was a recording. i think he felt guilty or something and went to the next song.. couldnt remember the words and got up and said godnight like he was gonna storm off stage but then finished and left quickly. justseemed like something was up i dont know ive seen pj many times and that was very out of character for eddie vedder.
Great show. A whole bunch of songs I didn't expect. Highlights were Brain Damage, Golden State (awesome hearing Ed sing with a beautiful female vocalist), Santa Cruz (very good live tune--a lot of fun), Gone was really cool though Ed needed help with the second verse. I think Atlanctic City was the highlight for me and hearing I am a Patriot was sweet. The new song for whatever reason I cannot remember anything about it; It's like it was erased from my brain. Anyway, there were some morons shouting throughout--I seriously think there are some people with Tourette's syndrome at these shows though I don't think they were any worse than many of the other shows I've read about here. Overall Ed was in good spirits throughout, but he cut Arc short because he "just wasn't feeling it and didn't want to fake it" or something to that effect.
"Goddamn Romans. Sure know how to make a ... drum room." --Matt Cameron
Wow. The show was every bit as amazing as the set list would lead you to believe. Seats were second row center; felt like sitting in Ed's living room the whole night. Thrilled to hear Don't Be Shy, and Gone was a real treat. He had to practice the chords before attempting it, joked that it was a car song and that he'd have to take it off into a ditch if things went wrong, had to stop and start several times when he forgot the words or music, and turned it into a real singalong. Golden State was also fantastic and a huge surprise. I'm a huge Corin Tucker fan, but E.J. really did the song justice.
The new song is beautiful, but seems to be terribly sad. I can only remember a few of the lyrics, but one is "I just want to grow old," and there's something about being sick and leaving you to raise the kids, and then he ends by saying I'm here but not for much longer and on the last word all the lights in the theater go black. He went from that right into Arc, and I don't know if it was the emotion from that song or the screaming dumbasses in the crowd that threw him off, but for whatever reason, he cut it short. He apologized and said he just wasn't feeling it and didn't feel right faking it; said he'd make it up to us and asked if we had any requests. When he finally started Patriot he screwed up the first chorus, cursed himself and had to start over; seemed flustered. By the second encore, though, he seemed to be in good spirits again, and Santa Cruz was excellent. I think he had a smile on his face the entire song. And so did I.
Can't wait for tonight, though I don't see how he could possibly top this.
Does anyone have the actual setlist? I couldn't keep track of some of it.

Sounds like some interesting happenings down in Baltimore last night... I cant speak for atmosphere or feel or energy or ed's mood cause I was not there...
However I think it is pretty easy and safe to say that thruogh 5 shows of this Tour... LAST NIGHT was definitely the best SETLIST so far!
Last night was amazing! I want to thank 10 club for 3rd row Center.
His voice was right on, I really like the story he told about how he wrote Elderly woman in a small town. He said that the band was recording up in San Fran all staying together before the real world was on TV. He ended up needing his own space so he was sleeping in the sauna. He had a guitar and amp in there and was playing this song that he didn't think much about. Stone was out on the balcony and said hey that sounds pretty good...Anyway that song was just incredable for me! I also really enjoyed the impromto gone. It was fun singing it kind of helping him through the song.
The new song was beautifully sad. It got that it was about a couple frowing apart. The ending of things. The guitar he played it on was beautiful.
The where many annoying drunks who kept yelling out like immature ass wholes and it just kept throwing off the vibe. Ed would start something and then someone would yell out something and he would loose his train of thought. He asked people like 5 times to be quiet. He even called them drunkin asswholes. Hopefully tonight people will show more respect and class.
He did have guitar problems on big hard sun but it sounded great to me. I went right up to the front of the stage for this!
Just when I thought the night couldn't get any better...after like 18 years of waiting...I meet him and got to shake his hand!
anybody with a memory who can describe "New Song"? Anything stuck in your mind? I'd really like to hear more.
I will search my 'memory' for the new song and post some things about it
I'll edit this post as I remember more of the song...
this is what I got so far... keep in mind they probably aren't all correct
Wonder where all those dreams we shared go
all those many years ago
What were all those plans we made now,
left beside the road
Behind us in the road
More than friends I always pledged,
because friends they come and go
People change (something something) I wanted to grow old
I just wanted to grow old
Slide next to me (not sure if he messed up here, it kinda sounded like he messed up on the guitar)
I'm just a human being
I will take the blame, but just the same
This is not me, you see.
still lots to go... i'll keep putting it up as i have time

The Sentence Above Is False
I have seen ed solo 4 times the last 2 years... and this by far was the best for me... 4th row pretty much dead center off of ticketmaster 4 days before the show... i am not a fan of arc so the icing on the top was him pulling the plug on it and playin one of my favorites which i have never heard live, Patriot. My buddy yelled out, "play Gone Ed"... so ed fucking played it and got a standing ovation for it... santa cruz was awesome... golden state was awesome... the whole set list was awesome... getting to go up to the stage for santa cruz and hard sun with ed wailing away about 2 feet in front of me was great... some friends stayed back and met ed after the show...
Thanks 10C for great seats!!! Ended up in the second row, just to the left of Ed. Closest I've ever been.
As has been said, set list was amazing. I was in Albany last week and Ed's mood was MUCH different last night than the Albany shows. He came out and sat down playing without saying anything to the crowd other than that since he was playing in an opera house to be quiet. Then proceeded to play the next 4 or 5 songs without saying anything. Then somebody yelled out play "Gone"...and he spent a few moments trying to remember how the cords began. He also asked the crowd to help him with the lyrics as he may forget (basically he wasn't planning to sing this song, so I'm sure it wasn't top of mind how to play).
As the show progressed, he did a little kidding around, but not much, pretty serious Ed. The stopping of Arc, imo, was b/c somebody kept yelling. it messed up the very first loop he was setting and you could hear him try to start over (because the yelling was so loud) and then about 10 seconds later he walked back up and told the sound crew to cut the sound. he was clearly out of sorts, basically gathered himself, said "I don't think I've ever done that before" (meaning stopping Arc) and said he would make it up to "us." He asked for requests, people started yelling all kinds of crap, and finally he heard Patriot...which he proceed to play. It was SICK. You could tell he channelled all of his negative energy from stopping Arc right into this....
Overall, I would rate this as the best set list I've heard at the 5 solo shows I've been to this year and last. THANKS ED!!!
This was a fantastic show. I went to DC 1 and 2 last year and would rate this one much better. One of the main reasons is that the acoustics in the auditorium were excellent, probably bc it's an Opera House. The sound was very warm, full, and crystal clear...really great for Ed's vocals.
The crowd wasn't especially well behaved but also wasn't as bad as other people have portrayed it. Certainly wasn't as bad as DC 1 last year. There were some drunks (e.g., the two guys behind me were barely functional and were kicked out after Liam), but overall it wasn't terrible. Ed was pretty engaged with the crowd even though people were somewhat annoying.
Ed also wasn't as moody as some posters have portrayed. Him quitting Arc was a definite disappointment. Couldn't tell if it was because of the crowd noise or because, in his words, he "wasn't into it" and "didn't want to fake it." Other than him getting pissed and thrashing his guitar during Hard Sun, he was in good spirits throughout the night.
Highlights for me were his improvised version of Gone, Atlantic City, and I Am a Patriot, which was a makeup for him quitting Arc.
Fantastic show overall. Wish I could go back tonight.
Gone was very cool because it was a request. Eddie tells everyone not to call out during the show, but then he goes ahead and plays one of them anyway. I was sitting in a box seat next to the lighting technician, so I could see the whole setlist and Gone was definitely not on the list. It was awesome the way the crowd helped him through it. Society was very cool too because Jerry Hannan who wrote the song just happened to be in Baltimore and sang it with Ed. Ed had an absolutely perfect and flawless set (no mistakes on Guaranteed or any other song) but had some trouble in the encore with Arc and I Am a Patriot, and then some guitar problems on Hard Sun which he seemed a bit upset about. His voice also cracked a lot on the new song. He added some extra songs in the encore that were not on the setlist. I think he did this to make up for Arc. It was a great show overall and well worth it.
Where were your seats? Did you like them? I'm just curious, I'm in Box CC for tonight and wondered if I'd be next to the lighting techinician.

I was sitting with my2 hands for this one ....4th row , a little off center but still FANTASTIC SEATS. I thought the venue was O.K .. something about it left something to be desired ..... NJPAC , and the Warner theater definately put that place to shame IMO from an audience perspective... After about 4 or five songs, I yelled out " Play gone , ED" ....and he said " OK " ......now before I get bashed for yelling out a song during a performence, just know that it was not belligerent or disrespectful in any way ....he was not talking at the time OR playing anything..... I have respect for this guy more just as everyone else does , and he didn't mind the request at all .... Plus,, as the night progressed he actually asked to hear some requests from the crowd anyways..
A couple of other highlights for me were definately I am mine ( one of my favorites ) , and Patriot !!! thank you Ed for a great show , and making my night with the GONE request ...
The show was amazing, Eddie was very talkative and in a great mood for most of the show but towards the end you could tell he was getting upset at the sound guys because there were a few technical malfunctions but other then that he was pretty loose. The crowd wasn't too bad (or great) kind of a normal PJ/ Ed Ved crowd with most people tying respect his wishes to keep quiet with the occasional "drunken assholes" thrown in the mix for good measure... Liam Finn is always a great live act and I really enjoyed his new song last night, sounded very different from most of the material off "I'll Be Lightning". The highlight of my night came when I got the shake hands with the man himself and handed him my phone so he could tell my cousin in California hello... I would just like to acknowledge the drunk asshole who was in line outside trying to hug Eddie and get a little too close for comfort. You sir are the reason the word asshole exists, you wait in a line to meet someone you were complaining about all night and calling him names and whatnot then you try to satisfy you need for "man love" with someone who obviously is not interested in your kind... Please do us all a favor and stop coming to the Eddie shows and Pearl Jam shows, you are not welcome anymore, this is NOT FOR YOU...

I think I must have been sitting near you; one of those guys puked on the floor during Liam. I knew they were in trouble when that dude fell on me when he was trying to find his seat. I'm glad they got kicked out.
Thoughts, in no real order.
This my first Ed Solo show. I went with my girlfriend and we had a wonderful time. It was annoying the drunken people but its to be expected. Its funny I saw some people there that didn't really look like PJ fans or Ed fans but more concert goers for the lyric. I had been to the lyric twice before and it was great to go back a third time to see a great musician perform.
Gone was a great musical dialogue we had going on, that a concert with an audience participation at its best. When he was playing Porch that really got everyone going. I want the rest of the guys to come out and start playing!
I'm so glad he played Man of the Hour and Soon forget, I was great to hear an acoustic version of Man and I'd never seen him play his ukele live in person either!
I don't know if there's other threads about this and I know this is about Ed but just a brief mention I was extremely impressed with Liam Finn. He's stage presences, the songs, I haven't enjoyed an opening act like that in a long time. Much props to Mr. Finn and Co!
Favorite part two guys (who had clearly been drinking long before the concert) sat in their seats and neither could keep their balance and one kept randomly singing songs and playing air guitar. They got out of the seats to get programs and then were escorted out. Liam Finn comes on. I look over and see security talking and I look over they guys have gotten back in. One of them threw up in another row. Then they were escorted out again. Goodtimes.
Great show, wish I was going back tonight!
I want to thank Eddie and his crew for the front row upgrade. Golden State, Gone, Santa Cruz and I am a Patriot were incredible. Ed handed my wife a pick which was awesome. Wasn't feeling Arc so it was cut short but all in all it was the best time ever at a show.
you nailed it .... he got flustered during the song before arc and never recovered but still finished strong , i thought he was going to smash his roadie with that white guiter ( i hope he apoligized ) during sun ..... overall a GREAT show , i took a friend who has never seen p.j. / e.v. and he loved it ... ed was very intense ( in a good way ) especially playing p.j. songs .... porch was one of the best i have seen ... see you all in atl ..
by the way they sold tix at the door last night if interested ...
Last night was my first EV show and one of the best concert experiences I've ever had in 38 years. Eddie sounded strong (stop worrying folks), the set list was wonderful, & the crowd wasn't too bad (I had expected much worse). The venue acoustics were tops. You truly could hear ed when he was speaking in a normal tone (as long as some girl wasn't yelling "I love you Eddie" or a guy, "Kobe sucks"...WTF was that about??). Gone was so intimate...maybe because he didn't mind sharing with us that he had forgotten the chords/lyrics and needed some help from the crowd. So yeah, some songs sounded like we were just sitting around with him while he BS'd and played guitar....Its his "I'm just a regular guy" attitude that is so endearing. And he was witty as hell...made fun of himself for his demands. I didn't think the ARC thing was that big of deal...he said he wasn't feeling it and didn't want to fake it. Then rips it up on Patriot. Hard sun had me grinning like a fool, even with the guitar issues, it had everyone on their feet. Ed was even jumping around. I hated to see it end & didn't want to go but had a 7 hr drive back to Ohio. I wish i could be there again tonight.
Just wanna say thanks to the guy that gave me one of his programs. They were long gone by the time i got to the show. I appreciate your kindness!
Oh...forgot to mention I got lost after the show due to GPS failure and ended up driving somewhere that resembled the set of The Wire. I actually saw a guy standing on a corner with a MACHETE. I am not kidding. I was scared shitless.
Word to the wise...take a map.

Where were your seats? Did you like them? I'm just curious, I'm in Box CC for tonight and wondered if I'd be next to the lighting techinician.
A couple of other highlights for me were definately I am mine ( one of my favorites ) , and Patriot !!! thank you Ed for a great show , and making my night with the GONE request ...

I think I must have been sitting near you; one of those guys puked on the floor during Liam. I knew they were in trouble when that dude fell on me when he was trying to find his seat. I'm glad they got kicked out.
The show was unreal.
Goodtimes.
Great show, wish I was going back tonight!
by the way they sold tix at the door last night if interested ...
was it cold in there? we froze at the warner in dc last year. i brought a sweat shirt for tonight. i am coming straight from work.
8/08 - Ed solo in DC, 6/09 Ed in B'more,
10/10 - Brad in B'more
Just wanna say thanks to the guy that gave me one of his programs.
