olderman: i was upstairs at tables too, 2nd table on luthers side of stage. got pretty tipsy.
stopped on the way home next day to pick up my crowes in st louis tickets. ahhh, november.
damm i was at table 5 (3rd table on Luther's side) was feeling a bit under the weather (so i did not stand much) but it would have taken a bad fever to keep me away from this show!
did you take this picture that showed up on the BC web blog?
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
Can't wait! Got tickets to the SLC show in November. Black Crowes are the shit.

Decent review in the current Rolling Stone magazine.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

Was just at my local record and the owner was playing he new disc. It sounds great, many different genres of music represented. Really shows there versatility!

'until the freeze' is 110% better than 'before the frost,' in my opinion. i think its the best thing they've done since 'amorica,' again, in my opinion.
buy the new album then download and listen to the bonus disc FIRST!!! amazing, amazing stuff.

Really?? I couldn't get into the flow of UTF, alone. The vinyl has all the songs jumbled together and it makes for the best listen, imo.
I've only been able to listen to BTF...the website for ....Until The Freeze was running a 90 year old's marathon last night so I gave up after about 5 tries...
I'll try again tonight, but I'm really diggin' Before The Frost...., so perhaps I'll enjoy UTF that much more!
I love:

The Crowes are still one of the most valuable rock bands around today.

I hope you're right...Amorica is my favorite of theirs....but Southern Harmony is a close follow-up.
I still need to get By Your Side, Lions and Three Snakes....for being such an avid Crowes fan, I'm lacking on my collection.

In the mail when I got home. So far so good. I love the direction they have taken since coming back with Warpaint. This feels like the next logical step. Love the production. Think I will throw this on while making dinner tonight.
I went to Cabin Fever for the recording...have loved these guys and have followed them all over since 10/92.
I don't like the new stuff at all.
To "country" for me and the lyrics are ridiculous to me, to say the least.
"Jolly good fellas"
"Fox jumps over a hollow log"
"There's a ruckus on the levee"
I can not relate to this new music at all. Make me feel old and that I should be sittin' on the porch in some podunk little southern town gettin' ready to go to town with paw for a square dance.
How great is the actually physical CD too? I've never seen anything like it. It's like a little LP.
Soundgarden did it with Superunknown, but it wasn't as well done as The Crowes have now done.
This album is good. I enjoy Before The Frost much more. Although they have become a bit more country influenced...it's all good. That's just the kind of band they are.
Pearl Jam claimed to have had more new wave sounds on Backspacer....

Just getting into Before the Frost last couple days. I like pretty much the whole album except maybe 2 songs. Haven't got into Until the Freeze yest just kinda skimmed over it. I love the Crowes still.

Have you listened with the vinyl tracklist?? I wasn't feelin the bonus album either, but the vinyl has a much better flow. It was a wise choice front loading the cd with the tunes they did, but the vinyl was the true vision and you can really see why after listening to it.
Been a Long Time from the Before the Frost CD is the Black Crowes in a nutshell. Dirty sounding guitars, catchy chorus, and then the long jam between the keyboard, then the harmonica, then the lead. This is closest they have come to capturing their live act on a CD so far. I guess because it was recorded live! Awesome.
And Until the Freeze is amazing. Wow.
Yes, they are going through a huge country phase right now, but at least it is classic country and not the crap that passes for country now.
