THE BLACK CROWES ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF NEW CD
AND GIVE FANS A FREE SECOND ALBUM

‘BEFORE THE FROST…UNTIL THE FREEZE’ DUE IN STORES SEPTEMBER 01, 2009

A LIMITED EDITION VINYL AVAILABLE

THE BLACK CROWES will release their new studio CD, Before the Frost... on September 1, 2009.

A second album, titled …Until The Freeze, will be given away for free exclusively through a unique download code which is included in Before The Frost… as a “thank you” to their fans for two decades of continued support.

Before the Frost..., and its corresponding free album …Until The Freeze, were recorded over a series of five nights at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY. Although both are studio albums, all the new material was performed and recorded in front of an intimate audience of the band’s fans, making them a part of The Black Crowes musical history.

The innovative technique of inviting fans into the studio as part of the process during recording is a rare experience.

Before the Frost... features eleven new and previously unreleased Black Crowes songs including Good Morning Captain, I Ain’t Hiding, Been a Long Time (Waiting on Love), and other original songs that will serve to spotlight the bands ability to make emotional connections through their music. The free album …Until The Freeze is a nine-song collection featuring eight new original Black Crowes songs plus a cover version of the Stephen Stills classic So Many Times.

A limited edition vinyl release of Before The Frost…Until The Freeze, featuring all 20 tracks, will also be available on September 1, 2009.

Chris Robinson conceived the concept of Before the Frost...Until The Freeze.
“I think we fulfilled a musical commitment to continue on the golden road of artistic independence. Approaching 20 years into our careers, we still are ambitious enough to push ourselves to create something unique that we have never done before.”

As The Black Crowes approach the upcoming 20th anniversary of their release of one of rock’s most influential records, Shake Your Money Maker, which produced such hits as Jealous Again, She Talks To Angels and Hard to Handle, they are time and again hailed as one of Rock and Roll’s best live acts.

Bad ass! The Crowes are one of the only true rock n' roll bands alive today.

This is sure to be a great album. Warpaint didn't fall short at least for me.

  • Good to hear, thanks for the heads up, still listening to Warpaint on a semi regular basis, Crowes are going to be here in town in a few days, going to see them for the third time. GREAT live band, not as good as Pearl Jam,IMO, but still a great show. :D

New song available for download on their official site.

Wow, I hope that is a joke or something. A disco song? Umm, OK. I am almost as die hard about them as PJ and I put up with and even enjoy some of their spaced out jams but I hope the whole album doesn't sound like this.

I dig the new tune. I'd say more funky than disco and it's not like they haven't done a song like it before. It's not that far removed from Lickin or Halfway to Everywhere imo.

I don't know. I guess your could call it either disco or funk. Maybe it will grow on me.

Chris said the record is very country influenced so we will see I guess.

I love it. Definitely in the vein of some of their funkier tunes. Sounds like it'd be a lot of fun live!

OK it is growing. I hope the rest of the record isn't like this but it is growing. They can do almost no wrong in my opinion.

from what i've heard "i'm not hiding" is on its own lil island from the rest of the 18 tracks coming out. i've listened to the new song about 5 times and am starting to really like it.
heard that the record has got 4 or 5 rockers and the rest are more country/blues flavored, but thats just from a few that went to cabin fever.

doesnt matter to me, just can't wait to hear it.

sept. might line up to be a fantastic month for music. i've heard tentative release dates on pearl jam, black crowes, alice in chains, and drive-by truckers that month.

i'll be seeing the Crowes one week from tonight at the VooDoo Lounge at Harrah's Casino in KC!

haven't heard any of the new tunes but that's ok because i like hearing new songs before hearing the studio cuts. :ugeek:

can't wait for next Thursday!! :D

Dallas tickets go on sale next week. Yay! I can continue my annual tradition of seeing them at the Palladium because it seems like they have played there every fall for the last 3 or 4 years. I think this will be number 16 for me. I lost count.

    Black Crowes - July 9, 2009 @ Harrah's VooDoo Lounge

    Setlist -

Cursed Diamond; Under A Mountain; Walk Believer Walk; High Head Blues; Ozone Mama; I Ain't Hiding; Young Man, Old Man; Whoa Mule; She; My Morning Song; Oh Josephine; Nonfictionl; Movin' On Down The Line; Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution; Twice As Hard.

Encore: She Talks To Angels; Pmper's Paradise.

Amazing as usual. Seen BC's quite a few times. She (Gram Parsons cover) was excellent but Chris was pissed that much of the close up crowd was yapping during the tune and after the song was over he said something like "This next one is a loud one so you can fucking talk all the way through this one too"

First time I'd seen STTA live, so it was a treat for me.

If you have never seen them live, do so on this tour. That's right, this band tours.

Those damned Black Crowes. And yeah it does feel like Warpaint just came out and what a great album that was. Whoa Mule, Wounded Bird, Movin' On Down the Line, my faves. I caught one of their handful of "One Night Only" shows: http://tr.im/s8vT

It's safe to say that I enjoyed it. It'll be fantastic to get this groove on again!

the KC show was fantastic. 1st cursed diamond in 27 shows for me. it was icing on the cake after that. thick rich icing at that. loved the return of pimpers paridise and i aint hiding really sounded good live too. only got to see 1 show when they had lions out, so both the lions tracks i'd not heard live.

olderman: i was upstairs at tables too, 2nd table on luthers side of stage. got pretty tipsy.
stopped on the way home next day to pick up my crowes in st louis tickets. ahhh, november.
