I've been checking for weeks, but there is a ticket drop right now for both shows. click the choose your own seat option and you'll see all the available seats being released right now are Orchestra seats.

Good luck!

good call. looks like night one has all 4 orchestra sections with seats available, and night 2 has the far left and far right.

I'm glad that people have the opportunity to score tickets for these shows, but I've always thought that it was BS that TM did this- makes people think that if they can't get them early, go to a scalper or through a ticket broker

You mean it's BS that EV does this. This happens 99% of shows, no matter how "sold out" it is. Half of it is because an artist asks for X amount for himself to use, and if they don't need them because they know no one in the area, they put those seats on sale. In arenas it more complex. I don't believe it's a TM thing. It most likely is a band thing or a promoter thing.

this is the way to go ,

( Bruce is notorious for doing this )
alot of it is to combat the scalpers and resellers for profit.
Say what you will, but this way seems to be fairest .

    I wouldn't say it's to combat scalpers.

Let's take Springsteen for example, or any popular band playing a typical arena tour. The band gets X number of tickets for themselves to use, per their contract. Also, since each venue is different, the Production Manager doesn't know which seats will have an obstructed view because of the tour's sound system and lighting system. So, imagine an arena like a big pizza. Since the Production Manager is unsure of what will be obstructed, they simply hold the pizza-wedge from each side of the stage from going on sale. On the day of the show the trucks load-in at 8am. They're pushing cases for a few hours and sometime between 11am - 1pm they "fly the system" (hang the sound and lights from the ceiling). Once everything is flown, the Production Manager for the band, promoter and venue walk around the venue to see if any of the held "pizza-wedge" seats are indeed obstructed. The ones that are obstructed significantly are never sold - those are called "tech kills". The ones which are good enough to sell are called "tech releases". Those tech releases as well as any that the band don't need are released for sale, typically in the neighborhood of 11am-3pm, but usually closer to 1pm or so.

Now when we're talking about an amphitheater tour, 100% of the seats there are good, so typically there's less day-of tickets available, usually just what the band had held for themselves.

At MSG in '98 I was working, their dressing room was next door, wall-to-wall with my office. Funny seeing a band you really like strolling in front of the door to your tiny office, smoking cigarettes. Two days earlier I was front row at CAA with signs "may I play drums with you" (listen to the boot - that's me Ed's talking to). In '08 went to watch the soundcheck. ...had to call up that favor! :D

Thanks to Joe's tip, I was able to upgrade my seats for night one. I now have an extra pair that are still fairly decent, up for grabs if anyone's interested. I have offered them first to a good friend, but if he can't make it I want to make sure I have a backup. Here's a photo of our seats and the ones we're selling:
