The hair is too long.
He's jumping around like a kangaroo on amphetimines.
He's head banging like he's James Hetfield.

We never really did get a good close-up of his face.

Pearl Jam is trying to sneak a fake Stone past us. Like the producers of "Bewitched" did with the second Darrin.

remember reading that interview that said the band wrote most of the new album without ed and only brought him in later to do lyrics.....i think that has a lot to do with it.

So you think Stone's just more excited about it? Is this going to be a Stone album?

i mean...he's stone fucking gossard. he deserves better than to be playing the same chords as ed (only on an acoustic) lower in the mix than ed. i don't know if its going to be a "stone" album (though i hope it is) but i think his creative output on this one will be larger than it was on the past 3 records. i love stone, by far my favorite member of this band.

Stone is dead. Stone is dead.

    The evidence is overwhelming.

I wonder how they got the new Stone? Probably went down to the local CPA office, found the geekiest guy there and said, "Hey, can you grow your hair long?"

Near the very end of "Gone" you can clearly hear Eddie say "I buried Stone."

I was up close for the Vic show in 07. During the Intro to "Gone" Stone was sitting on his amp, with his legs crossed, with his elbow planted on his thigh with his hand supporting up his chin. And a bored look on his face. (He also had those dorky ass croc sandals on).I looked at him and could not help but laugh and he noticed it and smiled and nodded his head.

My preference is when Ed does about all the lyrics and the rest of the guys handle the music. Most of the stuff Ed writes musically is much more basic (I won't say better or worse) then the main guitarists for the band. Stone may like having more free reign. Or, maybe he just felt like rockin' out that night.

Some of the best songs ever written are Ed songs. I'm just sayin'. Needs to be a balance.

i'm guessing you can't play any instruments....if you could, you'd probably realize why stone would be bored by this one.

I can play guitar some. I like playing Gone. It's a helluva lot more intricate than Betterman or Corduroy or Not For You or some of the other Ed songs. Complicated isn't always "better." And the lyrics make any Pearl Jam song.

    It's a good song.

You don't have to like it. But you're wrong. ;)

Some of my favorite songs are Ed's songs, but I really think the band is best when Stone takes the lead while collaborating with Jeff, Mike, and of course Eddie. That's what led to most of the first two albums. I considered Vitalogy to be the closest thing we would get to Eddie Vedder's solo album for many years so we'll skip that one. There are still stand out tracks on the rest of the PJ catalogue that come from Stoney. In Hiding, All Those Yesterdays, Of The Girl, In My Tree, Fatal, and I'm pretty sure Life Wasted and Comatose.

In my opinion, Stone's absence as a song writer on Riot Act is that albums biggest flaw.

Maybe Dirty Frank returned... we know they've been using a stand-in for Mike since Dirty Frank ate him... maybe he got out of the big house, drove his bus to Seattle, and ate Stone too? I'm sure Frank could whip something up - he IS a gourmet cook, after all.
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

You know what I just found out, not that it's a huge deal but.... I read an interview where Jeff said he didn't even play on the recorded studio versions of 'No Way' and 'Do the Evolution'.

My question is.., Why not? Where was he? Who recorded the bass parts on those songs? I know that nobody here can answer that but it's still interesting nonetheless.
