i love it alot. my only flaw with it, it sounds to choppy and underproduced
And he still gives his love, he just gives it away, The love he receives is the love that is saved, And sometimes is seen a strange spot in the sky, A human being that was given to fly
+ Can't Keep = good song
= Save You = nice solo from Mike but that's all.
- LBC = I hate this song.
+ Cropduster = good song
+ Ghost = I like this song.
+ I Am Mine = good song.
= Thumbing My Way = average track.
++ You Are = Best song on the album.
- Get Right = terrible song.
- Green Disease = I hate this song.
- Help Help = Not a fan but not as bad as the earlier two tracks.
+ Bu$hleaguer = Awesome song!
= 1/2 Full = average at best.
= Arc = N/A
+ All or None = good track but rips off one of Stone's Bayleaf song
So that's 7 good tracks out of 14 with 4 tracks I hate. Average album in my opinion.
I don´t really love the album, and I rearely put it on and give it a listen from a to z.
However some of my favorite PJ songs ar on that album. I simply love: LBC, Save You and Green Disease! and You Are and ½ Full are growing for me at the moment after listening to those two alot lately from boots.
So ??????? Why don´t I love the album??? Don´t really care - I love the songs!
I hope you meant to write worst song on the album.
Love is a Tower Love is a tower
And you're the Key.
Worst album song since bugs! yuk!
I love Mat and all, but drummers should not be allowed to write songs. Well, entire songs that is.
Sorry to sabotage your thread. It's a good album, I don't think anyone's denying that. It just lacks that standout song.(or that group of stand out songs) if you ask me. If you have a "Best song from___________album" poll, you might get a different two or three results for all of the other albums each time, but the winner will always be one of those same 2 or 3, you know?. With Riot Act, it could be any song!
Fans of Binaural and Riot Act, fans who saw shows during the 2003 > 2006 era, were witness to a certain time in the Pearl Jam phenomenon that was very unique. These songs took on a whole new life when played LIVE ... I've read so many negative posts about these two albums, but always wonder if the poster really saw these songs evolve as the band played them more and more during these years...
I think it helps to know some of the history of these songs too...I mean, to me, Save You will always remind me of a plea from Ed to Mike, and Thumbing My Way is just such an achingly beautiful love song with one of the best melodic hooks I've ever heard, and certain lines like:
Its like she lost her invitation to the party on earth
And shes standing outside hating everyone here.
Yeah, shes her own disease, crying to her doll.
But only love can break her fall.
...are the best the band has ever written...I sometimes feel that these two albums are well kept Pearl Jam secrets, and those of us who saw them LIVE during these years were witness to something very special.
I was alone and far away when I heard the band start playing!
...I was always a DeadHead, but when I first heard Winston Rodney, aka the Burning Spear, sing, I became a SpearHead too!
I saw them live, and wasn't that impressed. I like the older stuff still with intermittent bits of greatness every now and again which make it worthwhile to be as obsessed as i am.

Im stealing your idea. it looked cool
+ Can't Keep = great opener, love the drum intro. really wanna hear live
+ Save You = good song studio, even better live.
+ LBC = good song, not their best.
+ Cropduster = slightly better than LBC
= Ghost = average, nothing special but its decent.
+ I Am Mine = amazing song, lyrics are what makes it.
= Thumbing My Way = average track.
+ You Are = great experimental song, I love matt songs. Live its fuckin insane.
+ Get Right = I like matt songs
= Green Disease = average song, its ok
+ Help Help = dont understand the hate, i love it. the guitar riff kicks ass
+ Bu$hleaguer = good song
+ 1/2 Full = Like the drumming, it owns live
= Arc = not a song, but I grew to appreciate it more.
+ All or None = incredible closer, one of PJ's best songs.
I like every song except three that i dont care for. Its alwasy a toss up for me which is worse, binaural or riot act. Lately i would say riot act is better.
+ Can't Keep = great opener, great lyrics, love the way the music swells
+ Save You = great Mike solo, terrific Matt fills and ed says fuck a lot.
+ LBC = my first favorite song on the album, lyrics give me chills.
+ Cropduster = lyrics sound like a Keats poem to me ... which is good
= Ghost = like how the music crunches, finding hope in ways I missed before
+ I Am Mine = lyrics are what makes it. the subtle difference between "innocents" and "innocence" lost
= Thumbing My Way = RA's Nothingman, only with even better lyrics (you heard me)
+ You Are = Love the experiment, love the light show, love the lyrics
+ Get Right = This one I could take or leave. Love the ed grunts, tho
= Green Disease = Best song about Enron ever written. lyrics make it ... esp the bit about the captain making waves ... and the weeds with big leaves
+ Help Help = love when the guitars kick in on the chorus, great bridge
+ Bu$hleaguer = Interesting song. Like stone's groove. better live.
+ 1/2 Full = Like the drumming, it owns live ... and the 1/2 full of shit line
= Arc = great for giving me goosebumps on long moonlight drives
+ All or None = great stone riff, love how it builds into mike's solo at the end
Guess, all told, you'd have to say this album is kind of badass. As you can see, there's no debate. It's been scientifically proven.

ok so i came here right NOW to actually START a riot act thread. I was not aware there were alreddie a couple! :eek:
I will openly admit, i have not listened to this cd in quite sometime. Last week at the ed shows, VEDHEAD27 and i were sooooooo beside ourselves that Ed did thumbing my way. THAT is one song that has really powerful lyrics. Yes, pretty much all perl jam songs do but come on. So TODAY, its cloudy and stuff so i decide hmmm.....im gonna listen to riot act. oh man. that cd is freakin GREAT! i have said MANY times here that im more for rockin out than....into the wild type stuff. Riot Act isnt into the wild but....sometimes i think its too slow? Anyway, there are alot of really great lyrics on this cd. Like: "and the young they can lose hope cuz they cant see beyond today, the wisdom that the old can give away." AMAZING.
~~~~~~ALWAYS HAVE A GOOD TIME~~~~~~
Well, it's the only album I never listen to from front to back. I probably haven't since 2004. IMO, it was rushed and Ed mailed in the vocals. I like a lot of the instrumentals, it's just kinda....blah. I like some songs live - I Am Mine, LBC, Save You, and Green Disease. The studio version of Save You sounds terrible now - the vocals are just so much better live. I understand people liking the album, I just feel like it could have been so much better. Sure, it's good because it's Pearl Jam, but it's a sub-par effort, IMO.
+ Can't Keep = good opener
- Save You = pales in comparison to older PJ punk stuff
- LBC = I hate this song, too. Worst song title ever.
- Cropduster = moderate rock shit + second worst song title ever.
- Ghost = moderate rock shit.
- I Am Mine = guitar solo can only be described as "limp dick".
- Thumbing My Way = pales in comparison to older PJ acoustic stuff
wait! dont stop reading! it get slightly better!
+ You Are = i like the cool Smiths sound. weird but not bad.
- Get Right = moderate rock shit.
++ Green Disease = LOVE THIS SONG. much better live though.
- Help Help = fucking terrible
- Bu$hleaguer = fucking terrible
+ 1/2 Full = cool song. references Porch (+10 cool points) and has good bluesy vibe. another in a long line of PJ songs that start weak and get better.
= Arc = whatever
+ All or None = good closer
It is just not a good "album" it is an average collection of "songs" though. It feels choppy which makes it listen to all the way through. Even vitalogy with bugs and pry, to has more flow and more of a concept than Riot Act. For me, it is split into two albums can't keep to thumbing my way is the first one and then after that the album loses all steam for me and it is hard for me to sit through the rest....
I love half full, all or none and green disease but by that point I'm bored. I reorganized the songs on my itunes and it is much more listenable.
I hope you meant to write worst song on the album.
