Gibson SG from 1998 - Good?
My brother has a Gibson SG from 1998. Was the SG:s from the 90s and especially 1998 good? How much would it be worth in todays market? He's looking into selling it.

Anybody in the greater Raleigh area interested in jamming?
I primarily play guitar, but can also get down on drums(begginer) or bass.

Speakers for my laptop / Vinyl player. Active or Passive?
I'm looking at getting some new speakers. Nothing fancy mind you. I've done a stack of research and got 2 recommendations. One passive setup and the other active. The costing for the 2 setups are more or less the same (approximately $160). Any ideas if Passive speaker + amp is going to sound way better than Active? For my…

Fender or Marshall?
For guitar amplifiers, which do you prefer and why? I used to be a huge fan of the Fender Deluxe Reverb but lately it's all about the Tweed Deluxe. Marshall makes some killer, classic amps too. So?

Martins/Taylors?
Can anyone recommend a Martin or Taylor acoustic electric thats on the cheaper end of the price range? Asking for a friend who wants to buy one for her husband. I know you have to go in and play guitars yourself and see what you like, but just wanted to see if there are more popular ones that aren't too expensive.

Amps, Reel to Reels, Tubes etc. for Sale
Not sure if this is the right place but I do know that a fair number of PJ fans like to use tube amps. I am helping a family friend clear out a lot of her late husband's electronic equipment. I have come across a tote of tubes, a non-working Scott LK-72 amp, 2 older TEAC reel to reel units, tube testers, etc.. I am…

Anyone know how Ed plays this? Seems different to the basic chord versions I've found online.

LP jacket "Ring wear"
Why "ring wear" in quotes? Because what I really want to talk about is dirt. I'm surprised at never having seen this mentioned anywhere but a lot of what is described as ring wear is actually jacket soiling. As a book seller, I've long had experience with working with cleaning book covers and dust jackets. It's a bit of a…

Distortion pedal for current Stone/Mike tonez?
I have a mini Tube Screamer and a Mythical Overdrive (Klon clone)... both are not cutting it.... The TS is not dirty enough and the MO is too dark sounding/muddy... To me Stone has a pretty defined dirt tone if that makes sense... single notes ring but chords also sound dirty... (Once, Go, lightning Bolt, etc.) Playing…

Professional Songwriting?
Anyone ever given a go in the world of professional songwriting? I've recently been given a diagnosis that will make being even a part time recording artist very difficult. Playing shows is most definitely out of the question. So I've got some solid tunes between my first album and the new album that is totally written but…

Turntable help
So I've had the same setup for quite some time - turntable, onkyo receive, 2 paradigm speakers. We recently moved and I had to change (obviously) the location of my set up. I've noticed that the sound seems to be louder out of my left speaker. The sound out of right is just a little softer, not distorted in any way, just…

Sound Like Soundgarden - Without Busting The Bank
I've enjoyed watching these guys videos. Oddly, they released one on Soundgarden today. "Just a few hours after this video went live we heard the sad news that Chris Cornell had passed away. I did think about taking the video down out of respect, but ultimately decided to leave it up & donate any advertising revenue that…

Soliciting Labels
Anyone here ever successfully landed a contract with a label or have words of wisdom for someone hoping to? So here's the story, I have released one album. It did fairly well in my area and has a pretty marketable sound. I've finished writing the follow up and am at the crucial point of financing the record. I don't want…

A coworker brought this wanting to know about it but I've got nothing. I looked online for awhile and can't find anything that has a fretboard like this.

Playing Even Flow correctly
I hardly ever see people play the chorus chords to Even Flow correctly. Yes Stone plays it in Open D Tuning - DADF#AD (low to high) but he adds in other notes besides just barring the 12th, 10th, and 8th frets. Maybe it's because all the tabs out there show this. Watch any video of him playing it and you'll see him do…

Anyone feel like joining a Facebook Group?
I've been wondering for a while about the possibility of starting a Musicians & Gearheads Facebook group, as an easier way for people to connect and share stuff, and also maybe to find some fans and gearheads who aren't Ten Club members, and can't get into the forums because of the pay wall. I'd be willing to moderate a…

Logitech Harmony remotes
Anyone have any experience with them? Good? Bad? Life expectancy? I'm thinking about getting one (probably the 650 model) but the reviews for every single model are pretty well mixed. A third love them, a third hate them, a third can't set them up correctly (and thus hate them).

Recently started playing the piano. Any tips?
I know Pearl Jam is guitar driven but anyone on here play the piano? I've learned a few songs so far (Karma Police, Nightswimming, Metamorphosis II minus the fast parts) but just memorizing which keys to hit is a slow process. I need to learn the chords and read music so I can learn songs faster. If anyone has any tips or…
