I just sent the following to ten club...

Thumbing My Way to Charlottsville, VA

Dear Ten Club

I know this is a long shot but I thought I would give it a try none the less.

I am a fan from South Africa.

You guys probably get these sorts of stories and requests all the time. My PJ journey has been as follows: Brisbane (2006); Sydney and Brisbane (2009); Buenes Aires (2011); Manchester, Amsterdam and Prague (2012); New York and Philadelphia (2013).

I am currently in a hotel in Charlottsville knowing that Baltimore must be really rocking at this very moment! Charlottsville is my final show of this tour before I head back to South Africa.

The two songs I have always wanted to see live have been Long Road and Thumbing. I got Long Road at Philly I at my 13th show and Come Back at Philly II brought tears to my eyes because of the people I have lost in the last couple of years, like so many other people on this forum. So I don't consider myself unique or special by any margin.

There is nothing more I would love than to hear Thumbing here in Charlottsvile. I know it's weird but it's my fav PJ song-will always be.

This is a simple request. I don't really care if it doesn't happen as PJ has given me so much of joy over the years that to expect them to play one song for one fan is sometimes a bit too self indulgent. I will still have a great time at the show I know, as I have at all 14 shows I have been to around the world to date.

I just felt I had to say this. Thank you Pearl Jam for wonderful shows, in a wonderful country that I have visited for the first time and to all the friendly and wonderful people of this great land.

I fly back home on Thursday, 30 Oct and take with me irreplaceable memories I will forever cherish.

    Thanks man! Yeah I hope so too. Just announced: Bruce will be playing South Africa for the first time Jan/Feb. Hope PJ follow suit. Ed could catch some nice waves there you know ;)

    Why is it that people requesting songs to shows I'm going to always request songs I don't want to hear?

    That isn't a knock at all against the OPs request, but just a pattern I've noticed.

    Luckily "Come Back" gave me a bathroom break at Wrigley, but I only need so many bathroom breaks.
    The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

    Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.

    Those 2 would be great. I'm pulling for you. Thumbing is the best song on Riot Act. Long Road is due for either Tue or Wed once again

    This is awesome. Well done Mags.

    Thumbing back in a setlist for the 1st time since Nov 19th 2006, and this boot will be the first in my cart as a consequence.

    Let's hope this amazing song doesn't disappear for another 7 years.
