Other Music Obsessions

I am assuming if you are a Ten Club member and get on the forum you are as obsessed as me with Pearl Jam. I was just wondering what other bands/musical acts rival your PJ level of obsession.

As for me, Pearl Jam is my #1, then the only band close is probably Radiohead. I love them as well and am an avid collector of their music/memorabilia.

Other than those two...it really drops off.

At certain points in time Smashing Pumpkins and Wilco were on this list, but the obsession level is not there. I still follow them and like them, but not like PJ or Radiohead.

Who demands your ultimate faith and devotion, in music?
PJ: 7/5/1998 - Dallas*; 9/1/1998 - Atlanta; 9/3/1998 - Birmingham; 8/7/2000 - Atlanta; 10/18/2000 - Lubbock*; 10/20/2000 - Albuquerque; 6/9/2003 - Dallas; 10/4/2008 - Austin; 4/8/2016 - Sunrise; 4/9/2016 - Miami

There are many bands I really really love, but obsess over? Other than PJ (my forever #1!), that would be DMB and Foo Fighters, in that order.

Qotsa and everything JHo related, like the Desert Sessions ...There is a lot of other music going on in my life, but PJ and Qotsa are the two bands I follow a bit more and the ones where I joined the fan clubs. But I wouldn't say I'm obsessed. I just like them a lot :shifty:

Back in the 90s I would have said Dave Matthews Band, fell out of love with them 10 years ago though. Would have said Thrice a couple years ago but since they broke up...

Probably the next in line would be The Gaslight Anthem.

What is it about Alabama Shakes? Never heard anything by them, but read a lot and heard a lot of comments, I watched their show at El Festival Mas Grande before PJ, they sounded like a cover band... I didn't like that band...

I have been obsessed with different bands, and to different levels, over time. Where I basically had to have all their studio albums, know all its band members, all their side projects, etc. Besides Pearl Jam I would say

    REM
    Tool
    Nine Inch Nails
    Neil Young
    Radiohead
    Pink Floyd
And quite a few Argentine bands

I had a big obsession with old Marillion, old Roxy Music, King Crimson, old Genesis and Peter Gabriel too. The kind of obsession that starts after you hear a song that completely blows your mind away, and you say to yourself, wait a minute, who are these guys, why have I not heard them before? How have I missed them all this time?

    Currently: The Alabama Shakes.
I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream...

I loved them at the Festival. It is hard to explain why some music reaches you, speaks to you. But I think it comes down to her voice and soul. It just got to me.

No se, javis, es dificil de explicar porque un cierto tipo de musica te llega o no, pero ese fue el caso con los Alabama Shakes, para mi.

Nirvana and The Killers. Although I hated The Killers' new album, so I haven't been listening to them a lot lately.

    Obivously PJ is Numero Uno.

The only older band I really listen to regularly is The Black Crowes. I do have a lot of The Doors, Zep, Floyd, G&R, Rush and Bruce that find their way into the rotation.

Of the newer bands, it would be:
    The Airborne Toxic Event
    Grace Potter
    Gaslight Anthem
    Edward Sharpe
    Trombone Shorty
    Zack Brown Band
