Troops in Iraq to watch Pearl Jam's set at the New Orleans Jazz Fest

Pearl Jam plays New Orleans Jazz Fest on Saturday, May 1, 2010. Pearl Jam's closing set at the New Orleans Jazz Fest on Saturday will be broadcast live to members of the Louisiana National Guard serving in Iraq.
Soldiers from the 256th Infantry Brigade will watch the performance live in Balad, Iraq, starting at 1 a.m. Iraq time.

Additionally, some soldiers will be able to speak to family, friends and fans at Jazz Fest via a two-way video and audio link. Soldiers watching in Iraq will appear on the Acura Stage's jumbo video screens via a real-time video feed

    The question here would be...Will they play "No More"?

    So they're playing to the soldiers...Great!! But are they not speaking out against the war any more? Supporting the soldiers but keeping hush about the whole act of our country STILL being over in Iraq, when we clearly should be wrapping things up does NOT make sense. ESPECIALLY when Vedder has been so outspoken in the past about it.

    christ i hope not. that song sucks. hopefully its retired for good. if they are gonna do a anti-war song they should play Masters of War or something.

    they played to a lot of injured soldiers at ACL fest too, and made a few shout outs, but it wasnt like they were supporting the war or anything. they played WWS and stuff, too,

    btw it would be awesome to finally hear Yellow Ledbetter. 6 shows and counting and i still havent gotten it yet.

    this news and actions by PJ deserves to be a sticky for at least a little bit, dont you think?

    Thank you Pearl Jam for doing this! I have been packing US Troop supply boxes with some copies of old PJ bootlegs and throwing in there some of my extra "space drummer" Backspacer stickers but this beats that by a mile and then some. Thank you PJ for your continous efforts of making this world a better place and inspiring us to do the same. Please bring all of our Troops home now and let them be safe.
