I'm anxious every day about making it to the one in the US. I know I wanna go and I know I'll pull it off (hopefully), but it would be so much better if they did decide to honour us as fans and realise we are spread all over the globe and give all of us a chance to celebrate with them by maybe having the fest on more than one continent ...
if I keep holding out,.... will the light shine through?

ooopppss young lady soz my fingers just sort of type it out
hopefully with all this talk about E.V Australian tour and the U.S festi coming up we may hear some thing about wot we can hope for over here . as youve said we are spread around the world so it would be abit unfair not to be given the chance to go and see the band a little bit closer to home

it's all good, now you made it up by calling me young.
Being a PJ fan has left me feeling old lately
Yeah, loads of ppl in Asia, South America, the African continent, Middle East etc haven't seen PJ there at all/in aaaaaaaaages! Would be nice if we all didn't have to spend our hard-earned on travel but use it on tix, merch & beer instead

Unless I am very much mistaken, PJ20 is about celebrating 20 years of Pearl Jam. In that 20 years Europe, South America and Australasia in particular have given the band so much love. Just because they are from the US doesn't mean shit (in this context), they are a GLOBAL band.
I think we will get our love, just maybe not this year.. the individual band members are very busy. Thats fine, but the argument that they are a US band so it should be a solely US based celebration, is dead in the water frankly. For a start, many of the bands influences are very UK based. Ed often talks about The Who, The Clash, The Stranglers etc and Mike told me to my own face his favourite band of all times in The Stones. I mean, if we are to really think about it, to celebrate Pearl Jam is to celebrate all that has happened to them before and after they became the worlds best band. The events in Roskilde also shaped who they are, there is no doubt about that.
On a individual level, the band members are clearly concerned with US based political and environmental issues but this is not about the individual members. This about the band, the phenomenon that transcends the US. The last 20 years of music and activism which has touched the lives of so many people around the globe, many of us who cannot, due only to our geographic position, celebrate with the group of musicians that has had such a profound effect on our lives. Its a really bummer and trust me, if I could I would travel to fu#*in Mars to see them play.
Yes, they are a US band. Yes, its understandable the celebrations have a US focus. But to suggest it should be US based because they are from the US is just short sighted and disrespectful of fans from other parts of the world.
Finally some discussion in this thread! Not that I didn't like the smilies
Go Dimitris and MikeeJ!! Just cuz PJ is made up of Americans doesn't justify ur comments that we shd "fly our asses over" to the US (large letters not necessary ) to see 'em. That doesn't at all represent what the band stands for. I have to agree completely with MikeeJ's comments. Wake up and smell this global village we live in. Nothing is about any one nation/continent any more. Everyone realises that what affects one nation affects us all - culturally and otherwise. So if we feel like making a kind request to our favourite band to include us in their celebrations, we shouldn't be over-looked just cuz we don't fly the same flag :P
Watch youtube videos and listen carefully to your boots, sunshine, you'll hear more enthusiasm and general madness for PJ from the European crowds - cuz we're classy like that (this last bit is a joke, keep your knickers on! Everyone loves PJ and we all show it at their gigs)
if I keep holding out,.... will the light shine through?

For a 20 year festival you think an American band you probably had no clue about till 1992-1993 (as they hadn't cleanly surfaced yet) should do their celebration festival in Europe?
The people of Seattle have a complaint souley based on the origins of the band.
This isn't Erasure, The Cult, Rolling Stones. If they held their anniversary festival in the US I'd be pissed if I was from Europe.
"Honesty will always be construed as negative to a dumbass"
:-)
Now all festivals need to be set with fans screams and yells?
Maybe the 30 year could be settled by the fans who do the best wave? Or the fans who can keep the most beach balls in the air?
You mostly are passionate over nothing. The festival will be in the US, already determined. What is there to argue about?
Get on planes, fly your asses over, take a boat (non Titanic) and let's all have fun loving OUR band.

see you at labor weekend at the states...
