oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

jrd you hit the nail on the head there with the sainsburys analogy! I rang ticketweb earlier to complain about this and the reason I was given was that while the tickets may have been in my shopping cart somebody else may also have had THE SAME TICKETS in their shopping cart and put their payment details through before me! That makes no sense to me! I mean as you said its surely a simple matter of stock control- as people add two tickets to their shopping cart take 2 off the amount available and if that person doesn't put their payment through in the 15mins allocated- (which is also bullshit as I did this and when I pressed confirm order it told me there were no tickets left!)- then add the two tickets back to the number thats available. Its really not rocket science! :x :x :x

This totally defeats the purpose of the 10 or 15minutes you have to complete your transaction. When you get your tickets, they should be kept for you until your 10 minutes are up - at least Ticketmaster actually manage to do this  So then, the tickets get re-distributed to those next in the queue - hence the queuing system.

Not happy... lost out in the 10c lottery, got stitched up by HMV and then got held up on the way to work by traffic accident. Took 2.5 hours to get to work!
Called my mate and he had the same problem with TicketWeb as everyone else.
Thought he'd bought tickets then an 'error' came up, so he reapplied and the "computer says NO!" as he had already had his allocation... waited for a confirmation email (nothing so far!)
I have now paid £200 on ebay for a ticket. The seller has SIX tickets!!
    Fed up and skint!

One thing I have noticed, is that there are no LEVEL ONE tickets for sale. Who has those?
My guess is record industry plebs.

Yeah I bought one for same amount, probably the same seller. Totally gutted not getting tickets through 10C, HMV, TW etc.

Hmmm that's a valid point, I haven't seen any Level 1 tickets on sale through any of the various channels... HMV was standing or Level 2, 10c was standing, ticketweb this morning was level 2 or level 3. There are no Level 1's on eBay. Maybe there's another twist to this tale?

Guys - Shep Bush only HAS 2 levels plus standing - there are no level 3 tickets cos there isn't a level 3! :-see the seating plan here :

Sounds like ebayers saying level 3 are wrong then!

Actually Shepherd's Bush Empire does has three balconies, I know because I've had tickets for all of them (Level 3 being called "The Gods" because it is so high up). The area in front of the stage is called the Stalls and then, like I said before, there's three balconies in addition to that. Hope that helps!

I'm actually wondering if the floor itself is smaller than the Astoria's was.

Yes there are defo 3 balconys, I was one "Level 1" for Chris Cornell this year. So it still begs the question, where were the level 1 tickets sold?

One of the pictures posted lists Level 1 as "VIP & Guest Area". Could well be quite a few freebies floating around for this if you mix in the right circles. Which I don't :(
If I knew where it was, I would take you there...

There were a lot of 'industry' people (including other musicians and celebs) at the Astoria - this will be the same.

Usually you can definitely buy Level 1 tickets but it often sells out first and I'm pretty sure it's because a lot of tickets for that level go to the industry.
Level 1 is actually really cool, it's probably the best view of the stage from there.

Has anyone ever bought a ticket from a tout outside the venue on the day and got in to the concert with it ok? I am severely tempted but scared I'll spend the money and won't get in if the ticket is fake.

Advice welcome! After missing out on the Astoria, 10c lottery, HMV pre-sale and now HMV general sale I am desperate!
And he who forgets will be destined to remember
