Amnesty without vote in Congress?

Are we not a nation of laws anymore ? What about all the people that went through the immigration process to become American citizens ? This is a slap in the face to them. What about the strain illegal immagration has already placed on every state. California is a prime example. They cant even pay some of their GOV. employees. So I guess it's just going to all go away when we give amnesty to all these people?
If Obama and his ilk try to do this against what the American people want during a lame duck session or even if they don't loose one of the houses. It will be over for Obama :x :x

‘Amnesty Memo’ Means
July 30, 2010 5:52 PM
By Rosemary Jenks
Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker Nancy Pelosi are facing a dilemma: Although they publicly bemoan the fact that Republicans won’t help them pass an unpopular amnesty . . . er, comprehensive immigration-reform bill, they don’t want to force vulnerable Democrats to vote on amnesty this close to the November elections — especially not with unemployment at 9.5 percent.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) may have uncovered the answer to their dilemma yesterday: an internal U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services memo (reported here on NRO) that outlines steps the Obama administration can take “in the absence of Comprehensive Immigration Reform” — that is, lawfully enacted amnesty — to “reduce the threat of removal for certain individuals present in the United States without authorization.”

The four authors of the memo, titled “Administrative Alternatives to Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” are political appointees USCIS chief of policy and strategy Denise Vanison (a former immigration attorney and partner at Patton Boggs) and USCIS chief counsel Roxana Bacon (former general counsel for the American Immigration Lawyers Association), and two career employees of USCIS director Alejandro Mayorkas, another Obama appointee.

The U.S. Constitution gives Congress — and only Congress — the authority to decide federal immigration law, but the Obama administration has come up with an extensive list of ways to ensure that a majority of the illegal aliens in the United States are allowed to remain here.

Here are just three examples of the outrageous proposals in the memo:

● USCIS could grant “parole-in-place,” which comes with a work permit and the ability to obtain a green card, to certain classes of aliens who entered the country illegally. Such classes would include those who entered as minors and those who “have lived for many years in the U.S.” A nice reward for those who have successfully violated the law for the longest period of time.

● For those who overstay their visas, the memo recommends granting “deferred action,” which means that deportation is deferred indefinitely and the illegal alien can apply for a work permit. The memo suggests two particular categories of illegal aliens for deferred action: those who might benefit if Congress were to pass the DREAM Act amnesty (of which there are 2.1 million, according to the Migration Policy Institute) and those “who have resided in the U.S. since 1996 (or as of a different date designed to move forward the Registry provision now limited to entries before January 1, 1972).” The “Registry provision” referred to is an actual federal law, not that it matters to the memo’s authors.

● To make sure no illegal alien is left behind, the memo suggests that DHS could simply stop issuing “Notices to Appear” (the document that starts the removal process for illegal aliens) unless the alien has a “significant negative immigration or criminal history.” Apparently, violating immigration law once or twice is acceptable. These folks wouldn’t be able to apply for a work permit, but since the Obama administration isn’t conducting worksite enforcement against illegal aliens much anymore, that shouldn’t matter.

No wonder Reid, Pelosi, and Obama seem content to avoid a legislative battle over immigration; the Department of Homeland Security is hard at work on ways to implement its own amnesty.

Is this the only country in the World where bad behavior and lawlessness is rewarded?

There are women that are known for nothing but "leaking" a sex tape. Kim Kardashian (sp) Paris Hilton Pam Anderson

They idolize idiots like those on the Jersey Shore and Lindsay Lohan and Michael Jackson.

People reward those that are here illegally, and want to throw money at them, yet charge out the butt for tuition for citizens.

But if you want to go to church, feel that your money that you work hard for is yours, and you want to own a gun then you are the fool.

It sickens me what my tax dollar goes to.
  • It sickens me to. What's funny is you hear nothing from the left on issues like these. It's obvious to me that they don't care about this country or the constituion.
  • if you are so worried about the ''strain'' illegal immigration is placing "every state" under, maybe we should be thinking about where all the money is going instead of just blaming everything on illegal immigration.

i mean shit, the US has the largest military budget in the world, more than the rest of the world combined. almost all of our "foreign aid" goes toward weapons. we are the largest weapons dealer on the planet. good old uncle sam is a weapons dealer.

but damn those illegals sending the country broke

$700 BILLION for the pentagon in 2010.
$4 Billion to israel for defense systems in 2010
$30-50 billion every few months to pay for war in afghanistan and occupation in iraq
$100 Billion to bail out wall street, while guaranteeing the same bonuses for those that almost crashed the market

and you want to tell us that illegals are the main problem?

You guys are preaching to the choir. I'm not a supporter of Iraq and I am starting to believe Afghanistan is no longer worthwhile either.

Regardless you still DO NOT reward law breakers. Amnesty is a reward.

Stop whining about the symptom and let's start working on curing the disease. Mexicans aren't taking your way of life from you, corporate greed and power is. If we can curb overwhelming corporate power, we can change anything you want. Illegal Mexicans are here to work for less than legal wages. Companies make more profit by paying less in labor. Government doesn't enforce these laws because these corporations and organizations fund campaigns. It also speaks to a bigger issue as the U.S.A. needs to keep these types of things going to sustain a first world economy and way of life. It appears to be a hole that is getting increasingly impossible to get out of without hitting the reset button of wars or revolutions.

I thought I've told you, I voted for Gore and Kerry. So yes it was an issue to me, even when Bush was President. I'm not one of those guys that started complaining when Obama was elected, I've been bitching about government waste for quite some time. One of the reasons I woke up was illegal immigration.

If amnesty does go through and this country does not enforce the border there will just be another amnesty 20 years from now. Amnesty has happened in the past and it does not work.

I would actually be open to a one time amnesty for ALL illegal aliens if other things took place and were forever enforced.

idk what the solution is to this one...all you ever hear about is amnesty or building a fence which neither will work. There is a large problem in the fact that there are tons of farmers and businesses located in the southern border that hire tons of illegal immigrants yet the govt (either side) never seems to take care of this problem...i understand people's feelings towards this issue but I really do think people should be totally up in arms over how much money we spend on our military. THAT is a real problem that the warhawks never bring up. Politicians shit themselves when the issue is brought up and never give a logical answer.
  • I never said it's the main problem, and why are you changing the subject from amnesty to defense spending. Also I was against it when Bush wanted to grant amnesty.

  • All what money is going? This has to do with a backdoor amnesty. It's not right to give these people amnesty. We are a nation of laws are we not? States are going bankrupt, our schools are overcrowded and not to mention all the accidents they cause on our roads bcos they don't know how to drive. There have been several DUI's where people have died bcos of some illegal was driving without a liscence and no INS.

all the money that is spent on foreign polices. war. money we can never get back, does that not concern you as well?

any death where someone dies due to DUI is one death too many. in 2008, nearly 14,000 people were killed in the US due to alcohol related motor vehicle accidents. 37% of the total deaths actually. every 11 minutes someone dies. that's not a statistic to be proud of is it. the idiots in the US who drink and drive and kill innocent people, plus themsleves, don't need a few illegal immigrants to kill them or anyone else, they do a good enough job on their own.

what took you so long to realize afghanistan is the wrong war at the wrong time? how many deaths did it take? what was the purchase price that made you say " i don't believe in this anymore??"

your concerns about war and amnesty are completely different and in many cases opposite ends of what you should be caring about if you are worried about taxes and financing things...

no, but you claim that illegal immigration is the biggest affront to america and the biggest waste of our resources. i was just pointing out what we spend much much more treasure on.

you were not posting when bush was talking amnesty so it is easy for you to say it yet hard for me to believe it. you have never ever mentioned that before, yet you blame obama as if it was the first time anyone has ever mentioned it....

Just so you know defesne spending is down.
Defense spending averaged 3.8% of GDP from 2002 to 2007, which is below the averages of the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, and 1990's.

    http://www.realitycheck-us.com/2008/07/ ... -as-a.html

and if you think we spend to much than what should we spend ? Do you think our men and women shouldn't get a pay check? I mean It's pretty obvious that you and some others on here hate our military. I mean there are countries that would love to invade us if they knew they could. With alll due respect I think you and others on the left are living in some fantasy world where you think that there aren't other countries in the world that would love to bomb the shit out of us if they could. So in other words I dont give a shit what it cost to keep our asses safe.

you were not posting when bush was talking amnesty so it is easy for you to say it yet hard for me to believe it. you have never ever mentioned that before, yet you blame obama as if it was the first time anyone has ever mentioned it....

So just because I wasn't posting when bush was talking about comprehension immigration reform (amnesty) your saying I must have supported it because Bush was president ?? :eh: :eh: :lolno:

    I don't think so ...

I didn't support then and I dont support it now. Nor will I ever..

The point of this thread was that there is a plan to do this without going through congress. That's wrong..
They are suppose to vote on things like this not just pass laws bcos they think they know what's best for the country. We do have a constitution you know ?

you are wrong. you need to take a step back and think about what you are saying before you make assumptions.

to you, anyone that criticises the Israeli government hates Jews and is anti-semitic. there is no hate against Jews. you see anger, revulsion, etc. against the zionist Israeli government, with all its implications, but you need to understand that defending Palestinian basic human rights and being critical of the Israeli government, does not make someone anti-semetic.

to you, anyone that criticises the US stance on foreign policy and the trillions being spent waging wars while this country has 700,000 people who go bankrupt every year due to medical bills, hates the military. being critical of the Governments spending in that area doesn't = hating the military. far from it. i want them out, and to come home safely to their families.

something for you to think about. if i used your logic prfctlefts, i'd be saying that due to your constant and unrelenting daily criticism of the Obama Administration, that you must surely be anti-American and you hate America and Americans. which i'm pretty sure you're not.

hopefully you will finally get it.
