When did manners become obsolete?

Just sold a "fan" one of my eighth row tickets for Boston and didn't get a thank you. I thanked her for payment...twice. Maybe she will thank me in person.

I’ve been around the fan club for eighteen years, and I’ve noticed the following:

    1. The very vast majority of 10c fans are the tops. Friendly, considerate, we’ll-mannered, easy to talk to, charming, humorous, etc. Examples: fans buying my Hawaiian shirt-clad dad beers because he brought me, who was fourteen at the time, to his first PJ show (9/5/2000).

Also, I had spare lawn seats for night 2 of PJ20, and I knew I wasn’t going to get much for them, so I offered a case of beer for the tickets. The fella that bought them from me gave me a case of beer and hosted me at his tailgate.

    2. There is a very minuscule part of this community that is only out there for themselves. Example: I had an extra ticket to the 2008 DC show. A fellow 10c fan asked to buy it, saw where my seats were, scoffed, and tossed the ticket back to at me, which fell to the ground.

So yeah, some people lack common courtesy, but most are excellent examples of what human beings are and how they should act.

Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure many of us are wondering what "Rude Fan" said or did to convince you to sell them your 8th row seat in the 1st place!!! Many of us are mega-polite and would have loved the chance to stun you with our grateful displays of thanks!

Well, initially I was going to go with someone else.  When that fell through, a friend of a friend told me I should friend her friend on FB (a guy who goes to tons and tons of shows).  So, I posted on his wall, asked him if he needed a ticket for Tuesday Fenway and he said no. Then he asked a couple of friends...I ended up selling it to one of them.

I was originally going to sell the ticket here and now I really wish I had. Not just because I'm not being thanked but because I really wanted the ticket to go to someone who would genuinely appreciate it and the value of it, if that makes sense.

What you say DEFINITELY makes sense. When I posted tix to sell I only posted them here, and then I looked at the people who responded to see whether they're active here and what I could tell about how big of fans they were.  Not that everyone who's a big fan posts here, many don't.  But I totally understand wanting to sell it to someone who is really going to appreciate it.

The person you sold to sounds like they don't at all.  Which is a bummer.  But you'll be 8th row, so you'll have other fantastic things to distract you and cheer you up... :)

Yeah, it's really bumming me out. I had a similar plan (if I had posted the ticket here) to look at who responded.  Oh well--it's done now and yes, you're right--I just have to focus on the positive!  I just hope she's not annoying, too, lol!

I was at Wrigley a couple weeks ago for Foo Fighters.  Got off the L and passed by the scalpers corner (Bacci/Sports Corner) and what did I see?  A scalper wearing the 10C Deep shirt.  We've been infiltrated by scalpers/flippers so I always check people's old posts and stuff to make sure they are fans/generally nice if I can.

I trust my instincts. I've got no experience selling, but I bought a 10C ticket two weeks ago. The person selling it to me was the kindest, most gracious I could have hoped for. Before that, I'd contacted a few other people selling a ticket, and even the one who seemed to be a genuine fan was quite abrupt. So I found that messaging back and forth makes a difference, it tells you more about how people handle things. What I mean is: for a fan who really wants to see the band, this is so much more than just a transaction. It's the biggest deal. And if either one of the parties involved (seller or buyer) doesn't share this attitude, it might be best to look for somebody else who is on the same page and can fully appreciate it. For me, there was definitely a bit of magic happening right there, and I'm forever grateful.

Having said that, I'm sorry the person who bought the ticket off you couldn't even be bothered to thank you. I hope you get to meet and have fun with some of the many awesome fans out there. Enjoy the show!
