Pearl Jam for Glastonbury?

Absolutely with you on that, hopefully never happens.Olivavu said:Pearl Jam and Glastonbury are not a realistic combination for me.
Plus Eavis is believed to have already signed the Foos for next year so having PJ on really aint going to happen in the same year.
PJ would have destroyed Glasto in the 90s, its a shadow of its former self these days.

I really don't think they are known well enough in the mainstream and if the Foo's are there next year that would cut the odds even further, Reading is one thing but not Glastonbury. Of course I'd like to see it happen, especially if they did a warm up secret set at Williams Green.0

I am going to buck the trend and say it would be amazing if PJ played Glastonbury. It's the world's biggest music/arts festival. It's a massive anomaly that a group so amazing live has never played it.
As Dottles rightly says the ethos of Glastonbury fits really well with the band - and I am sure they would go down a storm. Also in terms of coverage - the BBC does a great job - it would give some great exposure to the band we love!0 -
I would love to see it too, especially if 10c were able to give us a little heads up in time to apply for tickets. The build up and coverage of the festival is unrivaled in the UK and it would be a shame if the band didn't play it at one point. Hopefully this would be part of a wider Euro tour so we'd all get chance to see them.
Apparently the headliners for next year have been lined up already. And it won't be the Foos, they'll have to wait until the year after.'F*** the pessimists. F*** 'em.' Eddie Vedder0 -
At Reading 2008, I was backstage and I spoke to Melvin Benn. He said that Glastonbury had tried to get Pearl Jam to play a few times but had failed.
I think the days where they would fit in there are long gone. Way past it happening now.
Glastonbury is full of mainstream, bland, commercial music in terms of the main two stages.
And there's been a big shift from guitar music to electronic.
It's a massive no from me. Not the right place for them at all. With who exactly? The vast majority would not have a clue who they are.nigel said:I am sure they would go down a storm.

Would be nice to have any UK dates. Have travelled to see them 7 times since 2006 so a glasgow show would be ideal. Especially with the HYDRO being very similar to the First Direct Arena.0

Do both and nobody will be talking about Glasto!LightYearsnow said:Would be nice to have any UK dates. Have travelled to see them 7 times since 2006 so a glasgow show would be ideal. Especially with the HYDRO being very similar to the First Direct Arena.

Couldnt care less where PJ play in the UK.. as long as I get to see them. Glasto or no Glasto, festival or venue!0

Why would people need to know who they were to enjoy them? Surely that's the whole point - the band would get exposure to a whole new generation of potential fans. PJ's live performances stand up to any of the newer batch of bands IMHO.Olivavu said:

Agree, anyone attending Glasto will be there to have fun, dance and check performances out, its not always about the die hards. Pearl Jam will smash it just as they do no matter what festival or country they play.nigel said:

Hope they never play Glasto. I'm not too keen on them playing festivals fullstop, but one where no-one from the TC will get a shot at tickets? Glastonbury is basically sold out in advance , you have to be registered to have a chance of a ticket, so it's a middle class convention of Mumford and sons fans, no offence! There's always great bands away from the main stages, but I'd rather attend a cheaper festival and see those bands anyway. So it wouldn't be a pearl jam crowd, maybe I'm wrong! Watch it on TV every year and what they show is pretty ordinary, Kanye west had some balls playing, but maybe he just liked being on a 'pyramid' stage!!0
