This isn't exactly earth shattering news but one more reason to love Raul. When he's coming up to bat he always plays a pearl jam song. At the game yesterday he came out to save you, then solat. Also, the fixer played down at Citizens Bank. Yeah we rock.

I didn't notice that, but it makes sense with him having played in Seattle for so long (and probably meeting the band). He fucking rules.

I wonder if Eddie would approve of his music being used for a roid head. Now Derek Jeter, thats another story

Yes Ibanez signs his last contract... guaranteed regardless of results and then decides its time to start doing roids... that makes perfect sense.

    Haters keep on hating.

Yeah, it's not like Raul was ever on the DL or has had some groin problems this year. Nope, not at all. Has been hitting .300 consistently since 2001. Yeah, toooootal roid head.

I think RAAAAAAUUUUULLLL is a product of CBP, not roids. He has been a consistant hitter his entire career, this is just a more "hitter friendly" ballpark than Safe Co (I believe thats the field, sorry if its wrong)

Dobbs used to come out to Hail Hail two years ago too

Wilson Betimet came out to Betterman every game (when he played) last year for the Yanks. The only thing I like about him is that he is pretty much all the Yanks had to give up for Swisher.

Thanks for the heads up on his choice of music. I will be at the game Saturday and it will give me something else to pay attention to. I remember David Bell used to come out to PJ too.

Unfortunately in today's baseball climate anyone producing better then their average will be looked at in a questionable way. I think a lot of it has to do with the "hitter-friendly" ballpark at Citizens Bank that he is taking advantage of. Someone should take Raul's offer to test him for PED's, I forget what the deal was, but it will either make a journalist/blogger think twice about insinuating drug use, or shed a bad light on Raul. And it should be a blood test, not a piss test.

Hoping for a Phils/Yanks World Series! It's not easy being a Yankees fan in PA lately. I like the Phils team, solid group of players, but I won't admit that to my friends that are rabid Phils fans! ;)

I was at the All-Star game last week in STL and he used Brother! I almost posted it but wasn't sure if anyone cared. Cool he uses different songs everytime, lots of guys chose a song in April and don't alternate very much.

hitting behind Howard helps also. I mean the Cubs pitched around Howard a bunch which I didn't quite understand.

He's just a solid hitter who really isn't having a career year, well maybe somewhat. If you look at his past numbers he has always had one- one and a half months where he's on fire and then is just very consistent after that. His career year is probably due to the fact that there are so many solid hitters in our lineup so there's lots of protection. He's actually hit a lot more of his homers on the road this year and his improved fielding is due to him not having much of an outfield to patrol in left field. Even Pat Burrell looked okay out there as a fielder and we know he's as slow as they come.

Probably because Pinella managed Ibanez for 5 years and figured he knew how to approach him at the plate.

agreed that he's a product of the bandbox citizen bank park. always a pretty consistant player in seattle though.

He's batting 20 points higher than his career average.

He's slugging a whopping 200 points better than his career average.

His OPS is also 200 points higher than his career average.

He has 25 HR in 71 games. He's only hit more than 25 one other time in his career.

He's never been an all star before this year.

The only other players to start dominating and having career years at the age of 37: Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens

    These are the facts.

If you read the bloggers original post about Ibanez and roids, he did not go out of line at all. All players these days are going to be questioned, it's just where we stand in baseball.

so he's on roids because none of you haters have heard of him until this season? He was the most consistent offensive producer on the mariners for quite a while before going to the Phillies.

when you give someone like him a hitter friendly park and a WAAAY better coaching staff (than what was in Seattle when he left)...you're bound to see results

Alot of former mariners are huge pearl jam fans, including Raul. He used to come out to LOM.David bell was/ is in the ten club, if I remember right. Lyle overbay, not a mariner but he grew up 1.5 hours outside of Seattle is a HUGE pj fan. I know he is in the Ten Club. Richie Sexson, may he rot in hell, said pj is his favorite band too.

To all you morons saying Raul is on steroids: it's called switching to the national leauge and not playing in safeco. He has had good power numers in the past and overall, he is just a late bloomer.... He is also the same size.... He didn't grow another neck

Add hitting in the Phil's stacked lineup to that. He's sandwiched between Howard (on pace for 40+ HR's, 125 RBI) and Werth (on pace for 35+ HR, 100 RBI) when a righty is pitching, so needless to say he gets some pretty good pitches to hit.

The guy is a good person and a great player. I can't stand the baseless roid accusations. If he gained 20 lbs of muscle and his head grew from last year, I'd say you might have a point...but that didn't happen.

Paul LoDuca was named in the Mitchell Report. You don't need to be a humongous guy to be using PED's.

Raul was a late bloomer, did not have a steady starting role in the majors til he was 30. His "career average" is probably deceiving. It probably make more sense to compare what he has done this year to his average Stats from the previous 4 years. It may not be as out of line as you think.
