I remember hearing that in a behind the scenes simpsons type show....
i definitely have heard that was the episode they were approached about, and i think Bob Dylan was approached about it too. no real proof though..
would have been a good episode to be in, then again, could have been highlighting a phase of the bands career that had already been left behind.
Bob Dylan was also approached to be Homer's spirit guide after he eats the Guatemalan Insanity Peppers. He said no, so they used Johnny Cash, which helped make an awesome episode.
As far as Pearl Jam appearing I think the Homerpalloza episode would have been ok, but I think I would have prefer something a little more random, like Elton John, or Ringo's appearance.
Yeah, I guess Jerry's agent contacted Trey and Matt and said that Jerry wanted to be a guest voice on the show. So they came back and told him he was going to be turkey #5 or something...I guess it didn't go over to well with Jerry haha.
George Clooney did play the part of a homosexual dog though.

there are a few referances to pj, the one episode where selma adopts a baby from china, the citizens start questioning everything, one of the questions is "why doesnt pearl jam come here?" and of course the sign held up by jimbo in the episode where mr burns is the alien.
Small my table, seats just 3, its not crowded, its just lucky me
don't forget about smashing pumpkins and sonic youth, billy corgan sets up one of homer's best lines ever
"billy corgan, smashing pumpkins"
"homer simpson, smiling politely"
LOL, awesome line, but here's a fun fact for you: Courtney Love was supposed to be in that episode and she was supposed to be in that joke. It was orginally, "Courtney Love", "Homer Hungry." Foe whatever reason, Love wasn't in the episode and the joke was rewritten for the Smashing Pumpkins, and I think it worked better with Billy.
Down in the hole, Jesus tries to crack a smile beneath another shovel load.
from what i understand they declined to be on the show due to the fact that the creators of the simpsons retain the rights to the animated images and the pearl jam camp wasn't into that idea.
He was on the cover of RS last year, or some time. He's not so against commercialism as he once was...based on my observations.
I think the reason is that The Simpsons suck........They should be on South Park though!
WHOA let's settle down. the simpsons NOW suck. seasons 1-9 were amazing. probably the best cartoon ever made. and guess what... the simpsons were an influence on south park.... uh oh
If they did, most people around here would scream sell out so its probably best it doesn't happen. As if having some fun on a beloved american television show is selling out, its ridiculous but, thats the Pearl Jam world we all live in.
I used to love The Simpsons a lot, but not anymore, I really enjoy the old episodes and new ones from time to time, but it's not something I want to keep watching, still I recall most of their lines, in spanish of course, especially the ones from the 90's and early 2000's...
I think PJ "over-cooled" The Simpsons last century, They Simpsons are still relevant but they always catch up with current events and PJ arn't in the spotlight as they used to be in the 90's, there are other bands, artist, celebrities and the such who will fit more accurately to appear on the show nowadays, Bill Nye, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Coldplay, the kids from Harry Potter, 1D, North Korea Dictator, Lionel Messi, Nicolas Maduro, the artist formerly known as Jorge Bergoglio...
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...
Every time this topic comes up I fire off an email about the availability of this from the original production. In the past it was usually dismissed as it's too specific and a lot of non-Bart and non-Homer material wasn't saved/was ruined during production. This time, however, they offered to check the vault. Here's hoping...
