While I wouldn't have put it that harshly, from my initial post it seemed like you were an empty vessel wanting to get filled up with knowledge. I don't know you, but it seems that the first assumption was wrong so I apologize.

This was my point. You post to a PJ board looking for info on the Middle East and every other guy is going to trot out Chomsky, who is NOT a historian and has -- as any liberal will attest to -- a HUMONGOUS LEFT WING BIAS. Nobody is to give you objective facts here -- that's the whole point of my post. Go search out the facts yourself.

I can deffinately respect that. Perhaps the opening to my response was a bit harsh. It would certainly be a shame if one were to rely solely on this message board for information on this subject, and I assure you this is not the case.

I firmly believe that while there are two sides to every story, the truth is somewhere in the middle. Like most things, you have to be critical of what you are reading. I think the American media outlets certainly provide some (also inaccurate) balance to Chomsky's "humongous left wing bias".

    Anyway, thanks for the dialogue.

You're very welcome. Not only does identifying and understanding how to deal with power plays help us observe the world stage, but understanding such concepts really help out on a message board, too. ;) And, frankly, knowing how to dodge hooks and arrows is an awesome skill in every day life situations. :)

Btw... I pose this to you... Instead of wasting your deep thinking on name calling and labeling, what is YOUR solution to the problem? Mine has been stated before.

O.k, the solution to the problem? Well, I think it's always best to start with the fundamentals. Firstly, we need to understand that we are talking about a country which is engaging in an illegal military ocupation of anothers land, and which is presently in defiance of over 60 U.N resolutions. We need to realise that the U.S is singulary alone in blocking every attempt in over 35 years to establish a peaceful two state settlement between Israel and the Palestinians. As long as the U.S stands in the way of a peaceful settelment and continues it's unconditional support of Israeli terror and occupation then there will be no progress.

As far as Iran is concerned, if the U.S stops threatening Iran then Iran will cease reacting in the manner expected - a manner which any rational person can understand - the Iranian government will cease to seek a means to defend itself from attack by obtaining nuclear weapons. And let's not forget who was responsible for bringing the Iranian regime into power:

Our PM better refute his comments to say Israel has the right to excalate their attacks...if any people here think that Israel is just targeting Hezbollah you have no idea what is happening....somebody/someone has got to get something resolved here b/c this is getting ugly....never knew that foreign citizens on holiday would ever be targetted as Hezbollah...what a joke...

Unfortunately that's what happens when missiles are fired from f16's into residential buildings. But keep in mind that according to the heads of state meeting at the G8 summit, the fault of this conflict lies solely with extremists. This is tantamount to saying that Israel are again above the law and that they are beyond criticism. So far 120 Lebanese have been killed - mainly civilians - and 12 Israeli civilians have been killed.

Sure, you can tell a list of facts and drop out others, conveniently.
Now you know a method of propaganda...

Shit, Israel abducted a doctor and some other Palestinian civilians...Hezbollah retaliated by capturing an Israeli soldier-a military man-and Israel started the offensive on Lebanon. Palestinians then responded and now its all fucked up.

I didn't hear about the Israeli abductions-but I heard plenty about the Palestinians when they captured the Israeli soldier-according to mainstream news media you'd think that's what started this particular conflict, when the facts clearly show Israel was the instigator here.
