My days of doing 10+ shows and following them around the country are over. I'm only going to go to 2-3 that are around me, so I'd just as soon get the longer sets.

I’m going with 70 dates solely because I’m thinking these would be smaller venues than baseball stadiums.
    11-2-2000 Portland. 12-8-2002 Seattle. 4-18-2003 Nashville. 5-30-2003 Vancouver. 10-25-2003 Bridge School. 9-2-2005 Vancouver.
    7-6-2006 Las Vegas. 7-20-2006 Portland. 7-22-2006 Gorge. 9-21-2009 Seattle. 9-22-2009 Seattle. 9-26-2009 Ridgefield. 9-25-2011 Vancouver.
    11-29-2013 Portland. 10-16-2014 Detroit. 8-8-2018 Seattle. 8-10-2018 Seattle. 8-13-2018 Missoula.

    Cool question.

I think the first choice is more likely but the second one might suit me better. I suppose it all depends on where you live. My hope/guess is if they'd played more (but shorter) shows, they'd hit more smaller markets - which I now live in.

I use to live very near Toronto (where I would guess they'll play two long shows again soon) but now I'm just outside of Vancouver (still got a ferry ride to account for) and I don't see them playing any mega-shows here. For this reason, I'll take a shorter show in an arena - as long as they play Hail Hail.

I’m hoping for longetivity in the band, I’d say 35 stops is probably more than enough. Ed’s voice can’t take the abuse like it used to

It doesn’t even have to be a 3 hour plus set, I guess for me I’m going to see them, I’m not really interested in whatever opener there is. Just being honest

Definitely the 70 date with shorter sets.  Would love to be able to follow them for 10 shows or so without driving all over the country.

I don’t think option 2 is feasible anymore.

Not sure their popularity would support tours like that anymore

Yup. The venues are usually way too big for these types of bands.

I prefer the 3 hour sets.  Like many have said, opening bands kind of suck.

That being said, the last handful of dates of the 2013 tour had an opening band and 3 hour+ sets, so there's no reason you can't have both :)

Plus opening bands give you a better sense of when the main event will begin.

You are living in fantasy land if you think either scenario will actually happen. Lucky to get 15 dates for any "tour" these days.

More shows, shorter sets, more dialed in tracks.  I'd rather see them play 20-25 songs in top form than 30-36 with a bit hit and miss.

I dont care about tour length, as long as they get within striking distance....

But I will not attend any ballpark shows.  Whether the tour is 1, 5, 7, 24, or 37 shows long

Can we have an option that's possible? They probably aren't doing another 35 show tour let alone 70!!!!  When's the last time they did a 35 show tour?

Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

They did 30 in 2013 when LB came out. I think 25-30 is reasonable.

no more baseball stadiums, bring back amphitheaters and indoor arenas.  And opening bands are terrible, there is no need for it.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......
