Bringing kids to concerts - Experience + 10C tickets

Hi, Looking for advice from those who have attended shows with children!

My husband and I are considering travelling to Boston or NY for one of the upcoming shows. We're both 10C members but would probably just use one of our numbers and hope we get a pair. We were thinking of taking our little kid (she'll be 18 months by May) to the show with us. Is this crazy? Would she need her own ticket (in which case, we'd both have to use our 10C # and hope we both get a pair of tickets). Would an 18 month old WANT to be at a PJ show? Would she be freaked out by the noise, crowd and lights? We would buy those fancy noise blocking headphones but there's no guarantee she'd allow them to stay on for 2 hours (not to mention the show is WAY past her bedtime!)

Makes much more sense to live in the Present Tense.

Shows: 05/30/03, 09/02/05, 09/04/05, 09/05/05, 09/24/05, 09/25/05, 07/22/06, 04/02/08 (EV solo), 08/08/09, 08/23/09, 08/24/09, 09/25/09, 09/21/11, 09/23/11, /9/30/12, 12/02/13... many more to come!

Just my opinion, but yes taking an 18 month old to a rock concert is the very definition of crazy.
The show will likely be 3 hours, not 2, and way too much stimulation for a child that young.
    This weekend we rock Portland

Would an 18 month old WANT to be at a PJ show?

I thought 18 month olds are only interested in eating, pooping and playing with toys.

I would say no, not good idea. :)

    Babysitter
  • She's our first kid and we used to travel to shows before we had her so I was trying to gauge how young is too young for bringing a child to a show. Before we had her, I was thinking maybe 5 years+... But we'd love to see a show again! Just probably not worth it to pay all that money just for an experiment.

    PS: We're not idiots.

  • Babysitter might not be an option. We'd be flying from Canada and I'm not sure I'd trust a random hotel babysitter.

The first time I read it I thought it said 18 year old, Yeah that would be cool. 18 Month old no way. Last year at a Royal Blood concert there was a mother there with a baby about that age. All I could do was shake my head.

IMO that's too young to take to a show but in the end it's up to you guys so who cares what we think ;). I took my son to Cincinatti last year and we had a blast. But he was 10 at the time.

Also with her being that young I doubt she would make it the whole 3 hour show.

Child will be deaf, but you'll have that Tambourine to hang on the wall!

When I see parents and their kids at shows, I think it's awesome that they're exposing their children to great music so young. It's better than some frat boy behind me yelling "STON-Y! STON-Y! STON-Y!" for an entire show (This happened). But then again, your perception changes after you have kids. Me in my early 20s probably would have thought similarly.
