I think Lorne Michaels said that conservatives can laugh at themselves when made fun of on SNL but the liberal politicians are uptight. Liberals want to attack and tear down anyone who doesn't toe the liberal line. It is sad.

If you're not capable of asking grown up questions to these candidates then why have them on your show, especially with just 6 weeks before the election?
And, by they way, you could've easily substituted "conservative" for "liberal" because Trump is just as insulting to actual conservatives as he is to liberals.

I just don't think it matters because no one really cares these days. Arsenio Hall's show took place when people had less the 20 sources of entertainment to choose from. Now we have probably 5,000 sources to choose from.

Letterman would attack phonies and frauds. He hated celebs that did nothing to deserve it. It had nothing to do with being liberal. He attacked Trump before any notion of him running for president this year.
