    B-Side of the second single.
Available on cassette single only. Cassette tapestapes will be all the rage in 2018

I like the track..... My first listen was the Dublin 2010 play of it..... I love the instrumental part of the song. It has a Half Full feel to it, which I like. I prefer the lyrics in Half Full, but I really like the jam in Of the Earth ...... so I would welcome the song on an album

From what I heard, every take the band did, they didn't like...part of the reason why it wasn't on Lightning Bolt.

I'm thinking more a Lost Dogs 2, if such a thing ever happens.

Any release of this would be awesome! It has become one of my favorite songs they've ever done. I would love to hear a studio version of it.

The version they played in Denver 2014 was really tight and beautiful. But I think the feel they had for it that night might have come from the night itself....not sure you can or would want to try to dup that in a studio....I like that they reserve some songs to just blossom when they are played live, it feels more in the spirit of who they are

I'm not enthralled with Of the Earth. I think it's pretty average in Pearl Jam terms. It's fine but nothing special. I definitely don't need it on an album. I am just wondering when and even if there will be another album!

One of their best songs in my opinion. I remember reading somewhere that Brendan wasn't a fan of the song, so he was probably part of the reason the song didn't make it onto the last couple records. Yet he wanted Sleeping By Myself on Lightning Bolt! Go figure!

Werchter 2010 is the tightest version of this song, and when it is played well it's one of their best. I'd love to hear a studio version but im not holding my breath.

Great song - would love to hear a studio version. And would love a Lost Dogs 2 - they must have a warehouse of quality, unreleased, stuff hidden somewhere!

Perhaps it is the placement in the set list for the Dublin 2010 show (preceding Porch, I believe), but the song has always sounded very unfinished. As in, the band didn't really know what to do for that middle part so they said, "what the hell, let's just draw it out like that other song we wrote, Porch."

Just too similar. Could be cool but like I said, sounds very unfinished. Finish it or leave it as a perfect b-side.

Good song but I hope it's not added on their next studio album.

Maybe it'll be included on Lost Dogs 2 - The B-Side Awakens!

Sorry not up to speed with everything! Heard it for the first time on Denver bootleg and thought it was some obscure cover from an obscure band, now I know I ll give it more listens, thanks for the thread.

Please. When songs like the glossed up Sleeping By Myself make an album, there's no reason why Of The Earth should not.

Awesome song. Was so glad to see it in Denver. With that said, as far as a studio song, it does seem like there's something missing. I also agree that it feels like it's unfinished. Or maybe not unfinished, but not polished or something. Also, Sleeping by Myself...worst decision to put on Lightning Bolt.

I got to ask Mike about this being a studio song and he said they have some takes in the studio but its just not as good as when they do it live

Ole is a weird one.......doesn't really belong on any PJ album. it's a track that they like to play in South America, for obvious reasons. They played it some in Canada 2011 as well, but I don't think it would fit on any album. it's just too.....odd.

besides OTE, does the band have any finished songs they've played live that they have not officially released from the studio? (not counting improvs)

Plenty of covers, obviously. There are a few that they could make their own nicely.
I can't think of any other original ones though.
