The fire departments in the tri county area here did this about 2 months ago. The only difference is that it was called the cold water challenge. I jumped in 1000 gallons of ice cold water in a dump tank.

Good job guys. This is for a great cause.

This is such a PR stunt, and that it's popular sums up the vision of Americans in seeing through health conditions. I know you're well meaning, but there is no one perfect diet, a raw food vegan diet won't work for everyone.

It actually does work for everyone who gives it time and understands the fundamentals. It's our species-specific diet. Every species has one. Humans are eating dead animals and other animal products that rot inside the body when we're not designed to eat animals. Processed foods—well, it shouldn't one long to consider that cupcakes and soda shouldn't be consumed.

Some people's genes are what they are; to suggest otherwise strikes me as quite unfair and a bit limited in its logic.

Anyway...maybe you could start a separate thread on this subject?

Meat does not rot inside the body, it's broken down by stomach acid and digestive enzymes into amino acids and faty acids, which are absorbed through the digestive wall into the bloodstream, and used accordingly by the body - there isn't anything left to rot. This happens within the space of a few hours. Ironically, the only thing that does rot, is indigestible fibre from fruits, veg, grain etc. There are other options besides eating a typical western junk food diet, and a super strict raw, vegan diet.

    From ABC News Radio:
The Ice Bucket Challenge has been a tremendous success so far. The ALS Association says donations between July 29 and August 18 are up a whopping 766 percent from the same period last year. That translates into an increase from $1.8 million during those three weeks in 2013, to $15.6 million as of today.
