Low crowd noise on boots reduces the enjoyment!

I might be in the minority, but I actually prefer to hear the crowd properly on a boot. That's why I sometimes prefer the 2006 boots. I realise the tradeoff might be a slight reduction in band sound quality, but it would be nice to get a better indication of what the atmosphere was like at the gig.

Hope it's different for the BDO boots.

I agree fully. I was at c-ville show and it was insane. Louder then both philly nights. Then got the boot amd it was turned down alot. Crowd noise should be left alone.

Completely agree. Love to hear the energy of the crowd on the boots, but they always turn the crowd way down.

I would like if they took 1 or 2 shows a tour that were really great and do an alternate mix where the crowd was really loud and not turned down. Of course, this is also why listening to audience recordings is still fun too.

+1. Listening to the Hartford boot after being there is weird. Like in the actual stadium the crowd was so loud I could barely hear some of the shit Ed said about it... I completely missed the 'South America' comment and only just barely caught the 'this is not normal' one. But the crowd on the boot is nowhere near loud enough to really justify those comments lol so it's a little weird.

Real shame. You wanna get those chills from hearing the crowd at the show you were at.. I think we're getting a little ripped off in that sense. Seems like the crowd isn't being mic'd as they were for the 2006 tour.

Who to pledge our grievances to?

I agree. The way the official boots are from last tour, I'd actually rather listen to the audience boots!

Well I guess it depends. I know there's nothing more irritating then hearing a bunch of fans screaming in your earbuds in between tracks. But obviously you want to hear the sing along parts. So I think that there is a time for the crowd to be heard and a time for them not to be.

The singalong in Indifference at the East Rutherford show in 2006 is one of my favorites.

Absolutely agreed. I love to "feel" the crowd on a boot, and it definitely adds another factor to the boot. The quality and mixng from the 2013, 2012, and 2011 tours really have been superior and they've done an excellent job with the overall quality and mixing of the music. But they have mixed down the crowds considerably, which is somewhat disappointing.

first time this hit me was the severe lack of crowd on bonnaroo.

    boots need more crowd effects!
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.

Can, the people who want crowd noise, just get an audience recording?

Out of the 5 shows I went to, the OKC boot seems to suffer the worst with the crowd reduction. It's a true bummer. You can barely even hear the crowd doing the "oooohhh ohhhh oh, ohhhh oh" part on Evolution. And being there the place was rocking. I've always loved a good mix of the band and crowd. This tour they have definitely lost some magic on the boots.
