What PJ tribute band has "best" vocals?

So I'm working on a shortfilm idea that will include one character obsessed with a rockband. It's sort of about a bunch of guys and their perspective on life, and one using his obsession with a rockband to try to explain his existence. Pretty hard to explain, but yeah... anyways.

The film ends right now with all of these characters playing airdrums, airguitar etc out of nowwhere to a song by this band. And first I thought of using Pearl Jam, but the funds I can aquire for the filmproduction won't cover using any real Pearl Jam songs (ofcourse) - being a lowbudgetfilm. Even with adequate fundings I'm certain producers won't pursue this option.

So I thought first of changing the obsession to a fictional band or Nine Inch Nails (because of them having free music (The Slip etc) which I think can be used in films without any problems as long as it's non-profit). But it sort of works best with Pearl Jam (because of my "obsession")...

... so then I started thinking about writing a song with lyrics that perfectly captures what the film is about and maybe mimicing the style pf Pearl Jam -- sort of doing a Pastiche of Pearl Jam. So then I thought maybe some tribute band could help out in recording the song or something...

So therefore I wonder which tribute band(s) that sound close to Pearl Jam and particilur the vocals..?

You could always send PJ's management your idea. There was some other dude on here who made a small production movie and I believe PJ let him used their music for his small film. Anyone recall that post? It was less than a year ago if I remember.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

The lead singer Jay from Bostons own Backseat Lover sounds amazingly like Eddie. Seeing them next Saturday at Harpers Ferry. I swear if you close your eyes it almost sounds like Eddie is in the room.

...didn't Scott Stapp try to do his best Eddie impression before he went all Mel Gibson on America's ass?

Agreed, my vote is for him. I've seen around 7 different PJ cover bands throughout the years and I still think Backseat Lover's singer and band are the best.

The first PJ cover band I seen was Itchy Fish. Anybody remember those guys. I used to love when they played Rage Against the Machine covers at the end like Bullet In The Head.

I agree. I always have a great time a tribute shows. Ive met some great PJ friends at some shows. I love the atmosphere too. Especially for a good sounding tribute band. Its almost like seeing PJ back in the day in a small club.

All I'm saying is For a band to go out and play shows as a Pearl Jam tribute band, given the fanatical nature of their fans, they better come correct...I've seen 2 PJ tribute bands in my life, 5 vs 1, and No Code. Since I'm not out to be an asshole, let me just say one kicked ass, and one sucked ass.

I'm guessing the cover band that looked like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was singing was the bad one?

Just watched a cover from both of those bands. The singer in the first one sounded like a bad Scott Stapp ripoff. The second one sounded like an whiny Danzig cover-singer, or a bit cartoony in imitation of Ed, with that "Cher" overtone used in Ed imitations. One of them had a rocking band though! If the singer of that second band worked on his voice to make it more "natural" sounding, then I'd say they are great. :)

If any of you guys ever wake one morning to find yourself in Ireland, check Pearl Jem out before you rush to an airport for a flight home! They only do a few gigs a year which sorta makes it all the much better when they do play. http://www.youtube.com/user/1234leeds75 ... T2qgtIJOjQ

Best of luck with your film OP, maybe you'll post a link when you get it finished and online.

I agree, seen them twice including this past Friday in Hoboken. Music is played very well and you never know what they're gonna play next. All-around great show, looking forward to checking them out again. :D

I have seen or heard them all and TEN is by far the best. They are great guys and produce a nice tribute.

Also, Nick, their lead singer, can sing anything in the style of EV. Awesome tribute band!!

Yeah, I'd have to agree, that Ten is the best out there.

However, they all do a great job... Tony and the guys from No Code always put in a great effort. I just say Ten because I saw them in Charlotte a few years back and they were playing some more obscure stuff and sounded dead on. They were into it, and had a rather lame happy hour crowd believing after a rowdy set.
    90 shows and counting...some of my favs: Randall's Island night 2, Milwaukee '95 night 2, Hawaii '06, St Johns '05, PJ20!
