Holy shit. It just me, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. This band is so fucking good. I watched "I am Trying To Break Your Heart" and that totally sealed the deal. I was vaguely familiar with some of their material, but now Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is one of my favorite albums ever. A Ghost Is Born is right up there too. The earlier stuff is good too, but not near the last two records. Tweedy is brilliant. He just released a live solo DVD, Sunken Treasure, can't wait to pick that up.

Fav. Songs:

I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
Jesus etc.
I'm The Man That Loves You
Muzzle of Bees
Handshake Drugs

and many, many more.
Are you too good to tango with the poor poor boys?

you're from chicago and it took you this long? just kidding.

i would definately pick up all of their albums, but i would say their live album (kicking television) would be a good place to start if you already have yankee hotel foxtrot and a ghost is born.

    huh?

anyway, i watched that dvd with my gf the other weekend and she's hooked now too. it's a fantastic documentary.
  • I've been a Wilco fan from the beginning. Glad you like them. Check out the Wilco board over at Viachicago.org. It was down for maintenece the other day, not sure if it's up and going again. I saw Tweedy solo here in Champaign two weeks ago. Most amazing concert I've ever seen. A guy got a copy on CD and I just got it on Friday. I'll be listening to it for awhile.

Do you like that alternative country stuff. If you like Tweedy make sure you check out his old band Uncle Tupelo. He and Jay Fararr (Sun Volt) had a good thing going too. It's amazing to hear and see how far Wilco have come. A.M (their debut) is good but there are times I cringe when I hear the production.

Other things to check out..."The Wilco Book" got that baby signed a few years ago which also comes wuth a disc of throw aways.
  • Mermaid Avenue with Billy Bragg is one of my all time favourites. I love Summerteeth too.

I guess you can say that is an insider Wilco joke. It just means Wilco is great, the boimb, the shit, etc. etc...

There is so much to check out if you are getting into Wilco..he is also in a side project called Golden Smog as well as Loose Fur. I have to be honest, I hate the Loose Fur stuff. He collaborates with O' Yorke (Sonic Youth) There is also a book of poetry released by Mr. Tweedy called adult head, another book by a a guy from the Tribune that talks about Wilco and focuses much on Tweedy, I can't think of the title right off hand...THE WILCO BOOK looks like like and has an old school book feel to it. It is filled with pictures and essays from the band members. You picked a great band to get into! This guy could be this generations Johnny Cash.

isn't this band another bright eyes type band?
just a question, don't start shitting all over me.

i saw them at the Wakarusa Festival in 2005.. excellent show
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
  • I really enjoy the Loose Fur album as well... I just listened to it again today.

I saw Wilco here in London in July. One of the best live shows I have ever seen. I was front row in front of Nels. He is amazing. I have a huge crush on Jeff too. He is hot.
