Frusciante is a great guitar player, but obviously not the musical genious alot of people think he is. Some people actually think all of his stuff is totally original????0

i think it's a coincidence, and that's about it. i don't think it's an obvious ripoff at all, i didn't even think of the two songs sounding similar until i saw this thread. i do think that the video for dani california is one of the stupidest and worst videos the RHCPs have ever put out. what the hell? i know it's supposed to be funny and all, but it gets on my nerves every time i see it.my favorite pearl jam songs: (in no order)
animal
rearviewmirror
spin the black circle
hail hail
immortality
wishlist
sad
in the moonlight
wash
dead man walking
strangest tribe
ghost
faithfull
push me, pull me
sometimes
around the bend

As soon as I saw the title I knew which two songs you were talking about. Wether or not it's intentional there's no denying the fact that the songs are the same.0

at this point i was just about ready to throw a brick through the tv. The VJ actually took the vid seriously and then goes on to talk about the stupidest most pointless shit ever. I now vow never to watch another music video on that channel again.0 -
Bummer.
Doesn't sound like something Frusciante would do, however.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

That is hilarious. I've never really liked the Red Hot Chili Peppers anyways and this just strengthens by dislike. It all sounds the same to me. Check out the riff at the end of Give It Away when the song kicks back in and then listen to the riff in Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath. Can not be arsed with life no more.0

well maybe not but I remember John saying how Sweet Leaf inspired him to come up with the riff.LIVERPOOL FC -18 time League Champions-15 time Charity Shield Holders-7 time League Cup Winners-7 time FA Cup Winners-5 time European Champions-4 time UEFA Cup Winners-3 time European Super Cup Winners-1 time World Super Cup Winners

It dosen't bother me, it's a very nice riff to listen to:DCan not be arsed with life no more.0 -
This is nowhere near a ripoff, IMO. After listening to both FULL songs, extensively, they are completely different. Honestly, you can't base this off a 10-second clip, and the Tom Petty song is sped up as well. That little segment is all that sounds alike, the rest is obviously different. Actually listen to both full songs in a row, I think you'll find they're really not alike much at all.
Either way, Stadium Arcadium is a great album.0 -
this isn't a blatant rip off, however, it should have been caught b y the producer or some one for fuck's sake that it was the same tune as Petty's. Some times when i make my own guitar stuff i'll listen to it later and find a similarity to some other song that i've heard. It's weird how it just seeps into your self conscious without you knowing.0

Either way the lead single off the Pepper's latest album is a complete ripoff. Same producer. Same song. First time I heard it I could tell the Peppers had copped the melody but it wasn't until i heard one played over the other that I realized they were f-cked.
How hard is it to change the tempo of a song you are stealing? This would lead me to believe it was an accident but with Rick Rubin in the room I can't figure out how it could be a mistake.0 -
"and the Tom Petty song is sped up as well. "
I noticed that too. It's no big deal. Lot's of songs have the same chord progressions. This one also just happens to have the same melody and beat.
Still not as irritating as Shakira's Bangles rip off. That one was just hideous.Pronounced: (mo-KAY-lay em-BEM-bay)
"So I made a mistake, ONE mistake, can't a man start over?! DO I HAVE TO KEEP PAYING?! Maybe I should make another mistake... maybe I should make two."0 -
hmmmm just sounds like shit to me.......
Refried shit? Fresh shit? Its all the same.
Tom Petty RulesNo one is Righteous.......0 -
